You know what's better?
An app that tells me how much Mist Energy my knight has now (and when it will be full), and the gate map rotations.
I'd be happy with just these. I know it's impossible to bring the whole game onto a bloody touchscreen device (the keyboard is horrible already, let alone anything else)

I'd like an Android app which lets me check mail, AH, energy and arsenal. Although i dont want it to show me as online in the social tab. (can you imagine being on your phone and getting an invite to kill vanaduke? xD)

@Asukalanforum As someone who helped make the mobile phone industry what it is today, I'm well qualified to say that there really are no platforms other than iOS and Android. There's a few minor distractions (WP7, WebOS) and a few dying ghosts (BB, Symb), but iOS and Android are the only platforms that matter.
In the interest of being device agnostic, though, I think a mobile-friendly web site that you could use to access your knight info (crowns, ce, mist, inventory, mission progress) and maybe a few game features that make sense (auction house, vendors, CE exchange, arcade gate maps) would be cool. However, such a discussion belongs in the suggestions forum, where many other similar threads can be found.

Acces to chat would be most helpfull thing, you could post on trade, talk with guildies.
And since game is made in java, if devs would make that small phone app also in java it shouldnt be a big problem i think?

There is already a mist tracker app for android and it works very well with nice features just try and search the forums or do a google search for spiral knights android mist tracker it should pull up the forum post with the apk. Good luck on the other features.

Something like the blizzard WoW app
Something like the app for world of warcraft, where I could track my mist energy, see what gear my character is currently wearing (maybe even look at what other peoples characters are rocking out) Check my mail, and access auction house.

All these non-adventuring ideas are great, and playing sk on a touchscreen is rediculous, but maybe you go into the clockworks as a supporting character? maybe just watch other friend traverse the clockworks? i dont know.

I'm a WP7
I would love a mist tracker on my phone! I would really like to be able to check out my knight and arsenal though <3 Eye candy ftw! I like these other ideas too. But as I said before, I'm a WP7, and I'd be sad if such an app only came to other platforms. I have Xbox on my phone, I'd love to have Spiral Knights, too!

It is possible
If u don't think this game would be able to convert to a mobile device. Look up pocket legends, star legends, and dark legends. Playable through AppStore, android market,google play, and google chrome. All made by spacetimestudios(spacetimestudios.com).

This game cant be adapted so easily, it was designed with java, and apple produsct dont have native support for it.
Spacetimestudios has a dfferent engine witch was planned for multiple platforms from the beggining.

Lol guys, I never said it would be easy, pocket legends took a really long time to make available to computer. And please try the game before u claim it is nothing like sk I have played both games and find it hard to compare which is better becuz both have their pros and cons. And spacetimestudios wasnt always able to be compatible with all platforms becuz slowly they started to expand the platforms in this order: android, AppStore,PSP phone thing( don't know platform), google chrome, then google play. But to do this they had to undergo major updates and reboots.

Maybe we should add some advantages
Maybe you could play a minigame on the app to earn some gear, get mist energy, get crowns, or experience, but you could only do it 5 or 6 times a day to prevent people from overpowering their characters. This maybe could implement along with a stat check, chat, and shop and auction house.

there is no possiblity to overpower characters here. they are overpowered on their own.

Multiple accounts = might not work for whatever you call "experience", but it would allow infinite money farming.

Well, They have taken a game from the computer and bridged play beyween mbile devices and computers. It's called Star Legends.... so Spiral Knights could probably do the same thing... it's not that different.......

Divergent, have you actually played Star Legends or Pocket legends? They control horribly, crash, lag, and don't even make an effort to rewrite the game for PC. The controls on PC are even less intuitive, and for god's same the tutorial still tells you to tap things. If you want an example of a cross-platform game, you're definitely looking in the wrong place.
You know there are other platforms beside IOS and Android? Or you are one of those narrowminded ppl who thing there is no world beside Android and IOS?
Besides what kind of app you are thinking of? If you are thinking about bringing SK to portable devices i dont think its possible, since even on PC/Laptops ppl get lags and weird things.
