First I crash after clicking the Purchase Expansion link, now I can't patch the damn game at all. What's going on here?

Restart your computer. After I patched I had an issue (although I haven't purchased the Expansion pack). After a reboot the game loaded fine.

Have you tried to verify the
Have you tried to verify the integrity of the game cache on steam? I also wasn't able to purchase the expansion in game and had to go to the spiral knights page on steam itself and purchase from the web browser.

What's going on is that you haven't put this in the Technical Problems section. Plus, that title makes you come across as obnoxious. I'm 101% certain that OOO didn't do this in an conscious effort to see you go to bed annoyed.
