Looking in Perspective...

In the perspective I perceive all this rage, quitting, P2P vs F2P and such.
All of this is the EXACT equal to the CE Rage Crisis Last year, about 6-8 months ago.
Have we learned NOTHING? Look P2P-ers are supporting the game by giving some $ to OOO. In return, the OOO staff gives them extra "privleges" you could say to content in the game. Makes sense right?
Not for everyone.
Those who are F2P and never gave a single dime to OOO are supporting the game as well. They provide feedback to the Devs and such and (HOPEFULLY) for the most part contribute in a positive manner to the community.
OOO just made a game where we can have fun, like any other game developing company, and in return give you the OPTION to help them out with money.
Both groups help out. Both are equal. Both rage anyway.
You make your decision on how you want to play and support the game, and I'll make mine. Don't want to give money? That's fine, don't whine about making that choice then.
And whether you think this is an intelligent thing to say or not: I don't care what you do, as long as it doesn't affect me personally. When you, the other player, make it so I can't play, then we talk.
Have a good day. I feel like buying the pack because I simply like having more content, and at a reasonable price, I might as well experience it.
If you can't afford 5 dollars for something you care so deeply about to rage about it, then don't play.
I don't care. And that is my opinion.

You just repeated the main points of my thread with a little extra and without the babble in about a tenth of the words.
Yes I jelly.

I bought the expansion to fuel the rage.

Nicely said Xylka.
I aggree that it's okay for the P2P'rs to get some things the F2P'rs don't.
The only problem I have is the fact that what the P2P'rs get is the new part of the
whole SK story. But after your post, I kind of feel a little bad about getting angry.
Maybe I'll go post in one of the Three Rings love threads XD
The one and only, Guardianknight.
things can be fixed for u guys if u really wana play the new stuff so badly
just suggest them to make the exp. packs tradable, while the only method to obtain them, remains real money
ppl have lotsa ce and nothing to buy for it, so u gotta think about methods to reward the devs for their work while at the same time reaching ur goal
after that u post the thread

Thanks for the replies! I honestly thought this was just gonna turn into another rage thread at first.
But yeah, Logging on now and getting that pack with the money left over from the Explorer Pack promo.
Thanks for support!

God, I saw this and was like: He had better not be leaving. Xylka if you leave I will find you and eat your face. I cannot be the only WHB advocate in the entire SK world and I would simply not survive without one of my best friends. No. Just. No. First Nicoya now Xylka.... and that's when I started reading ^.^ Brilliantly said, thanks for not raging too. haha... goodness you scared me there :3

I don't know you, but now I want to. Well said. WELL SAID.
*stands up and applauds*
(that may not seem like much, but im a fat guy. Standing is excercise to me, which, of course, is anathema to a fat guy)
Bravo.

Well said. I can't really buy the pack right now due to personal stuff but gosh I want it! >.<

You guys are making me smile and blush now for real ^-^
Thanks for the support.

Its a love and hate relationship which is a nice way to say its really an abusive relationship =0
I was ticked off at first that this game decided to segregate between free and paying players with the mission, but after giving it some thought (and a lot of cold drinks), I guess the expansion is not all that bad. And heck, as Xylka had mentioned, you are given the OPTION to either buy them or not. It's not like you can't play anymore if you choose not to/ have no means to/ have no extra cash to purchase them; there are other things to do around in SK.
As for me, I'm actually a P2Per, but I chose not to purchase the missions out of respect to the other side of the divide. I'll still buy CE though, and the Elevator pass (if need be), so I'll be supporting Nick and his merry gang of friends in other ways. I still prefer to do Clockworks anyway, out of nostalgia (yeah, I'm weird like that). I'm beginning to love (and hate) LD as I managed to learn my way around. Most importantly, I play SK to fill my free time after a hard day's work and be with the friends who had pulled me into this game in the first place. And the expansion mission seems to be quite ok anyway, from what I've heard.
So yeah, I'm ambivalent on the issue. And finally a breather from all this fuming and raging (it's not good for your health, mind you) ^w^
*runs off to work for that second Wolver Tail for that friend*

Personally, I don't really care. When everyone rages, I will be sitting, having a LIFE!
It's just a game.
(I haven't even done vana or SL, so I have a long way to go!)

Nicely said!
I raged about the pack for only a couple minutes on guild chat, when I minimized the screen to go on youtube.
I had been gifted the DLC.
Hehe... I don't have anything to rage about now. :D

Exactly my point. Everyone complains because they DONT have it or they think its unfair, when in reality they are just whining instead of working to save up for it.
Really. 4 Freaking dollars. If you save a dime a day, you'll have it in a month. Too long to wait? Don't care, not my problem.

I have the money, but not the credit card......
5th line......, So far away......

Ok well you do realize you can contact OOO on email and ask if you could mail them the money for it.
As in use your actual postal service.
Again, sorry for your loss, but contact them and see if you can work something out. I know the above should work since I read a thread a while back with the same issue.
And I still stand by my OP 100.99%

Separating your community is never a good idea. F2P players are not just freeloading off P2P players. They're valuable to the game because they increase the size of the community. They contribute to the forums. They create demand for things P2P players have. They make the existence of an in-game economy possible. Companies that make free to play games don't do so out of the goodness in their hearts, they do so because the value of having a lot of extra players in the game usually outweighs the negatives, such as additional server load and potential inequity. In short, while F2P players are not directly financing OOO, they're still very much "supporting" them.
Of course, you do need a certain amount of actual income in your game, so you do need to offer incentives for people to spend money. That's where things like CE come in. CE allows P2P players to advance through the game at a much faster rate than F2P players (actually, CE allows you to advance much further than possible with mist only, and that's one of the things I do not like about the model SK uses). One of the positive things about CE is that it does not push F2P players out of the game. They can farm crowns to purchase it from P2P players, giving them access to the same content. If I've spent a lot of money on the game, and I want to get my friends playing, we can enjoy the same content without making my friends spend money to catch up to where I am.
The point of new content shouldn't be to reward players who've paid, it should be to keep people interested in playing your game, because if they like it, and there's incentive to pay, they'll do it anyway. The problem with "paid-only" content is that it defeats the entire purpose of making the game free to play. It splits the community into those who've paid and those who haven't. If a group of friends has some paid and some free, then they can't enjoy the content together. You don't want to reduce the number of players who can experience the content in your game. It's a waste of development time and it turns some people who may have been considering making a purchase later anyway away from the game.
Speaking as a player who has spent money in the game and bought the DLC to try out the model, but would not do so again.

@Otaia
Your first paragraph is what I already said.
But even if they did make it pay only content, its still not much, and it allows those F2P players, who love supporting the community since they're such nice knights, an OPTION to give a bit of their money to support OOO even more, and in return get even more content.
Though it does separate it from being 100% F2P game, its not a huge difference that everyone should get worked up over.
@Atrum
I'm the wrong person to ask lol :) Horrible with time zones and conversions in general. Just Google it, there shouldn't be a huge difference (I hope)

Now, time to convice the 'rents......
Anyway, I find it odd that the weps can't be unbounded. The mask could be unbinded via Crafting. The SL items could be unbounded and s could token rewards.
I would think, crafting machine for the weps, or tokens that could be used to buy the weps.
Anyway, I really need to grow a pair and start asking that question to the 'rents:
"Can I use your credit card for an online game?"
:D
