When a squad of apparent losers are tasked with a mission involving a mass exodus of mission clockwork desiens, mostly Gremlins, in a Graveyard Stratum. To prove they are not the steriotypes they are ridiculed with (Misfit, Idiot, Nerd and recluse) and decide to take the role while uncovering a secret that remained hidden for years,

What are phantoms?

Anyway, I am currently working on this before 'Mortality', but I am in need of a couple things:

Can anyone suggest names for each of the characters?

Striker character(Misfit): HAs a impatiant, extatic personality. Very hyper as well.

Recon character(Recluse): More shy, less socialble than the group.

Guardian(Idiot): not as bright as the others.

Tech/Geo(Nerd): Typical nerd, has less fighting skill so stays back and snipes. Has a special device that I may post a pic in the future.

Anyway, just help me out with that and I will post chapter 1 after I finish the prolouge.

Prolouge: Swarmed.

Graveyard: ???????? ?? ??????? CT3: 09:00

The troop of burnt-orange, miniscule soldiers marched through the grim wasteland of the graveyards. Despite their high ranking in their clan, they were paranoid of the dangers that lurked in this place.

“I can’t belive you are going with this!?”
“Those knights need to be destroyed!”
“I know about those interlopers and their threat they are causing, but not with children!”
“They need to have a better future!”
“By sending them to their DEATH!? King Tinkinzar is becoming crazier! Kana is only 5!”
“You’re thinking like a heretic!”
“Maybe I should leave! This place is not safe for us! How can we raise children!?”
“Mummy? Daddy? What’s goin’ on?”

“Sir!” an infantryman asked. “We are approaching the energy influx.”

“Uh, okay.” I muttered drowsily. I cleared my throat and boomed:
“Prepare your arms and get ready forexcavation, if we want to finish ‘Project X’* in time!”

I stood in the front of the source of this influx, a large mausoleum. It was greyscale and ancient with peeling paint, rust patches and moss. It had this grand, powerful feel to it, yet it felt like death. The moss was dying, the paint turning into dust and the rust was spreading like a virus.

I am starting not to be so sure of this…. I pondered.

Graveyard: ???????? ?? ??????? CT3: 12:50

The Gremlins continued in their arduous challenge to extract the energy source. The noise of construction filled the air as they tried to open the titanic, ironwood doors into the mausoleum. Despite its degenerating state, these were like titanium. But akin to titanium, it’s not unbreakable, just toughened metal.

A demo was trying to fuse several shards of luminite with a Prototype Rocket Hammer and a mender was using a Crimsonite staff to help melt several joints in the door with a Scorcher.

I scribbled several notes on our progress.

LUMINITE WAR HAMMER: FAIL. SEVERAL WORKERS WERE BLINDED BY THE LIGHTS.

MELTING JOINTS: FAIL. DOOR WAS JUST HEATED.

NAPALM CHARGES: FAIL. SEVERE BURNS TO WORKERS. MENDER RESOUCES ARE STRETCHED THIN.

HYDRALIC ACTION: CURRENTLY PENDING.

I hope this works, I am losing men with several attemps on this stupid door! I will never get my reds* now! Now if…

“Lieutenant!” A knocker shouted. He was beaming happily.
“What the UNDERWORLD IS IT!?” I screamed.
The knockers smile waned slightly. “Um, the hydraulic action worked!”

I looked at the door. Water was being pumped into the Titan doors and cracks were expanding from its center.

SMASH!

The once gigantic door crumbled like biscuits and turned into rubble. We swarmed into the mausoleum like locusts and observed the building.

Bodies were in one pile at the corner of the room and a pit that glowed an unearthly blood crimson. Bones covered the floor, walls and the ceiling.

I was holding a Geiger counter to the pit and looked as the counter raised to its highest. I smirked to myself. We then trekked across the sea of skellies. Something caught my eye. At first, I thought it was a large statue, but I recognised it.

A Grim Totem.

A wave of energy swept across the room as reconstructed zombies of many variants rose up from the solid sea. Skull faces started smirking and screaming with venom dripping from every syllable.

A skelly wolver ripped my tendon out without even being noticed and hundreds of bolts of energy surged through me and I screamed in agony. I fell face first into the hands of a arising Frozen Shambler.

Excellent beginning!

I like the tenseness you maintain throughout the section; I think the first person perspective really adds to it. There are a few little details you left out that jumped at me (like where did the tendon get ripped from?), but they didn't detract too much from the piece. I'm looking forward to a top-notch bit of horror, here.

Chapter 1: Broken

Sable and her daughter walked on the streets of the dull construction zone. Small, cubed towers stood tall, holding establishment and shelter. The two were ''Movers'' to Emberlight. Despite it being a new begining, their minds were dwelling on the past.

They entered one tower and walked up to its roof, both crowded and freezing. Several other gremlins were squatting there, in fear of their possible extinction.

"Should we even go up to haven?"

"Coulden't we go to a wolver Den or a Devilish Drugery? I hear Sol' Fork is wanting labour for Shelter."

"I should had stayed..."

"If we die, I blame dad for making us do this." A voice squeaked out.

Kana the white furred knocker was melancholy and deppressed. Sable could understand that as the recent week has been hard on them.

One month ago.

A group of gremlins were huddled up on a bench as they gazed at the moving, life-like marvel of the Grand Colony. A tall, looming monitor sparked into life as the Crimsion Order Insignia popped up.

"As the knights have increased in their assault on our creation, the King now is recuiting young gremlins from the age of 9 to serve the army and construction as 'Knockers'."

The male of the group smirked as the two other murmered to each other, puzzled.

One week ago

In the household, a husband and wife were arguing about recent events.

"I can’t believe you are going with this!?”

The two were interupted by a young youth. She had a snow white pelt with cheery features that were bemused at this moment.

"Dad?" she questioned "Do I have to leave now?"
"Kana, please go up to your room, mummy and I are having a conversation." the male replied stubbornly.
The female that had aurburn eyes and fur was angred.

"This concerns her as much as us!! Kana, you have a choice. Either you stay here and risk your life for the "Common Good" or you leave here and become a outcast."

The child looked at the two figures feafully and she pondered over the choices.

Apparlently, she chose the latter and started regretting it. She had to leave a comferable life for one of darkness and fear.

Later, she and her mother walked into the main plazza in silence. Only a knight was with them. He wore a Mighty Cobalt Helm with a Cobalt Ash Tail Coat with a Vanguard crest. He was holding clipboard and had his head into it until the duo crossed their path.

"Hi! I see you are Sable and Kana!" The knight said cheerfully. "I have been looking for you! Now you may need to see someone in Haven ASAP!"

The Gremlins exchanged glances at each other.

The Gremlins sat on chairs in a interogation room. A knight of titanic poportions walked in. He was calm and orderly. He had two tech-knights by his side holding expensive equipment.

"Ma'am, the reason we have bought you here is the fact that you know Mr Hammerfang. Am I correct?" Feron asked.

"We are-were married." Sable replied.

"A group of knights were scouting a stratum where we found a live video feed that belonged to him. These were his last moment apparently."

The Gremlins tensed.

"May we see it?" Sable asked. As if by magic, the tech-knights set up a hologram screen.

Screams of agony were heard as the feed played. The insides of the Mausoleum popped up and slowly shrank as the person holding the feed got dragged out into the bleak, dark graveyard. The feed went black and the noises ended.

"Now," Feron said, "We may need to question you about your relationship with Vincent Hammerfang."

Kana was crying into her mother's robe as Sable sat there, slilent and shocked in awe.

I could have sworn I posted this earlier ...

Ah, now you had to add sad family affairs to the whole thing ...

I think it was a good choice leaving any details aside from the screaming out of the recording. Makes the reader use their imagination. I think it would have struck more strongly if you had spent a little more time establishing the relationship between Vincent and his family, but it's still quite poignant.

Interlude 1: Sable 1.

"So, ma'am, can you please tell me how was you relationship with Mr Hammerfang?"

A titanic, burly knight clad in Volcanic Plate sat on a chair, looking focused and rigid. Despite his eyesbeing covered by the cresent shaped visors, the omnious, firey glow emniating from his helm gave a serious, tempered look.

Sable sad on another chair on the other side of the table seperating the two. She had been here for the last two hours being interogated.Kana was in another room, and this made Sable worried.

"Ma'am, I do not have all the time in ther world. May you please awnser my question?" the Knight asked in a slightly annoyed tone.

Sable snapped out from her thoughts and replied morosely, "It used to be a healthy relationship. We thought things will last. I mean, we working in the clockworks, doing our jobs, yet managing to make the daily amount of crowns."

"Can you tell me how was life in the Grand Colony?"

"The Rich/poor had a large gap. In the lower depths, Gremlins will be enjoying the life, while everyone else has to live on what remaining scraps they have." Her tone then became slightly venomous as she resumed. "How are you supposed to raise a child!?"

"Before we came, how was your relationships with the other clockwork creatures?" the titanic knight asked. He seemed to be even more intrigued.

"Well, Beasts are animals. Same way as anyone thinks. Devilites we were working partners. Land for materials. Everyone else, strangers, undeads, the lot, were shunned. The Crimson Order and the King were xenophobic and lead us in that path...."

"How were your views of these ideals ma'am?"

"We both followed it blindly, and gremlin who woulden't want to be named an outcast would do th. But my faith of it wavered, and my husband's strenghtened, especially whenthey recuited children." Sable's voice started cracking up, these events had a bad effect on her.

The knight paused in his onslaught of questions. This was a senitive spot, put he had to carry on.

"Was this the reason you left for Emberlight?"

"Yes. 9 years after the birth of my daughter, they announced that they are recuiting knockers. CHILDREN!" She felt like ripping her hair at that thought. "Since Vincent was so up in King Tinkinzar's @ss, he wanted to do this! Kana hasn't even had a propper education myet being sent out into the Clockworks where it is a battlezone!"

"So, what are your views on us?"

"I don't really approve of you. Now, people are dying. Even the children. Let me ask you, do you want to fight us?"

"....." the Knight was silent.

"Look! May I please see my daughter?" She pleaded.

"Just wait outside. She will be done in a couple of miniutes. We are asking here some questions."

Sable wasn't going to take this. " LOOK HERE!" she started screaming like a harpy. "I WANT TO SEE-"

"SWARMING ME! OH DEAR GOD! VINCENT! HELP ME DAMN IT!!!!"

The two were silent as the voice continued bellowing madly as several knights restrained the mentally deranged gremlin from outside.

"Wha...." the knight tried to say. He was bemused.

This is a good section, and gives an interesting background to some of the characters and how things work in your version of the Colony.

... although, is that Sable yelling at the end? It sort of makes me think it could be, since they're yelling about Vincent, but the rest of the narration indicates otherwise. So now I'm curious.

Chapter 2: Meet the Nerd

"Morning Abbot." the Samurai Lieutenant spoke sternly. He wasn’t a happy mood.

The Bombastic Demo replied nervously as he readjusted his glasses. “Good Morning sir.”

Feron smiled slightly as he a shuffled through several Files.

“I know a lot about you Abbot, some good, yet some bad.” HE seemed to lose his faint smile and looked at the demo grimly.“A excellent bomber during the three month siege of Roxxan, helped with the reverse-engineering during a space armada assault on the Morai and recently helped several knights cross the chasm.”

“Where’s the bad? Because I don’t see nothing wrong! ” A smug smirk popped up on his face.

“Rarely participating in battle despite being a 5*, Not an Vanguard or Champion despite your history and loitering most of the time in haven instead of working to get us off here!” Feron’s voice boomed across the office; removing the smirk from Abbot.

“Look sir! I’m not fit for battle! Can’t I be a Biotech, Geo or Tech Knight!?”

“We’re out of spaces for that role, and reserves are full.” Feron’s face eased up slightly. He seemed to pity Abbot for a second. “I can’t believe I’m going to do this but, I will let you become a Vanguard.”

Abbot gasped as Feron was going to do the improbable for him.

“Under one condition,” he said, making the demo tense in suspence.

“You will have to lead a Squad for the next month, and have to do all the missions you have skipped out of.”

Abbot twirled his canteen as he pondered the offer.

Am I worthy for such a role?
Can I do this?
Will my squad mates respect me?

He seemed to sigh before saying his answer,

“Yes.”

“Lucky for you your squad mates are outside.” Abbot’s eyes widened as the two entered the main foyer of HQ.

To Abbot’s surprise, it wasn’t the dream team he imagined.

The first Knight was a Striker clad in a Cobalt helm and Ash Tail, and was fidgeting madly like he was electrocuted.

The next was a Miracle hood and Sunset and had paranoid, large eyes. She seemed like she was shell-Shocked and the third?

He was sluggish, dozing in his Ironmight, causing his voice to reverb and echo.

“So, what do you think?” Feron was smiling again, waiting for the other’s reaction.

The only words were,

“Oy…”

Chapter 3: OMEGA and Interlude 2: Scorcher....(part 1)

Chapters are not proofread ATM as I am rushing to finish homework and entertain you guys. I will correct later. Enjoy this!

"Knights!" A loud, booming voice shouted from the Spiral marked screen.

The knights sitting on the seats in the makeshift announcement hall listened with intrest.

It was odd to listen to a speech made by commander Oslo himself.

Among the seats, Abbot was sitting, on the edge of insanity.

To his left, the striker named Lance was twiddling his fingers and, poking abbot, trying to gain his attention.

He was burbling at the speed of sound, possibly light!

"IheardabboutOlso! DidhefightattehLiberationofIlssora? Washekewl?"

To his right, the Ironmight sad dazed, talking utter noncense in a calm, almost intoxicated voice.

"Isn't Olso the capital of Norway! Wait, What is Norway?"

The only one that wasn't peeving him was the ultra paranoid gunner to his far left. She didn't speak much, but apparently, her name was Ronī by the sounds of it. She was usually talking in a foriegn accent. Light and serious. Most of the knight's destinct accents were dissapearing due to our stay....

"We have recently heard of several creatures dissapearing in a strata. One of them mostly being gremlins...."

He paused to gather his thoughts.

"But now, it seems to have caused some strained relatiionships with the dwellers here. We have decided to combat the threat with our new squad."

"OMEGA!"

Cheering was heard as four knights entered the stage. Acompioning them were a Chromalisk with a beard, Labcoat and glasses, a Rock jelly with a Divine Cape and Gamer Face and a Stunned Snarbolax walking on its hind legs with a round shades and a tweed blazer.

The Rock Jelly translated for the Chroma in fluent Slime-Spiralian.

"I, Doctor Chroma, with my partner Sir Snarby, have made a breakthough after working with the Spearheads."

"Seemssofullofhimself." whispered Lance. Abbot silenced him.

"As Omega is the end, this is the end of the Spearheads' Super-Soldier projects. By fusing flesh with machinery and genes, we have created the OMEGA squad!"

Sir snarby then spoke in a posh accent. The striker came forward. He had the eyes of a wolver, warp dust fused into his grafted Booster, a visor and two strikers and a assortment of Flourish type weapons equiped.

"Light-Sonic is the result of a wolver fusion, a set of striker gear and years worth of tests."

The recon came up. More like camo'ed then reappeared. He had Scally skin, a Armour made out of devilites and a Fiery red Catalyser.

"Camo is the chroma fusion with devilite armour. He owns the one of a kind Blazer Catalyzer."

The guardian Walked up, holding a Lightning trokia that seemed to breath with every pulse in his hands. He looked like a Grey skelly with a mender rune and bubble sheild generator strapped onto him.

"Zeus is our guardian Medic. As you can see, he has mender Proporties."

And the last one Floated suddenly She had a Grafted Colbalt Mercurai Helm with Bombs strapped onto her. Several mavhines then assembled themselves in front of her.

"Technos is our Techie. Can manipulate machines with her mind, uses telekinisis and as a tactical bomber, can use several styles of demolition."

"We now hope that this problem will end. FOR THE ORDER!" Oslo shouted.

"FOR THE ORDER!" the crowd then echoed.

I sprinted madly throught the purtrified bones as I reached for the Altar. Undead after undead hounded me with Molting skin and rotting flesh. Madness was in the hollows of their eyes as they droolled at their prey. My heart rate increased as tears flown through my eyes.

"NO! NO!

The elevator was in sight at the Altar. I didn't think twice of the sudden appearance. All I was running on was instinct.

I leaped over it and head first into the elevator. Instead of the cold embrace of steel, it was only dust and clay.The flair of pain came and the warm copper taste oozed out of my mouth. My jaw was dislocated!

They didn't care about my state, but that they could feed on me. I tried moving, but I could feel myself pinned down.

I flailed and screamed in a muffled voice as I was being scrapped apart. Bared, animialistic teeth bared on me as the skellies attacked me.

With the last ounce of energy in had, my leg flew out, hopping to hit the droul, but only a Carnavon's ashened shield connected, a cold, dead feeling came over me.

It was over....
