Bomb Interrupt

Being primarily a bomber, I find it interesting that bomb placement can be interrupted. While guns and swords must be aimed to properly fire their charge, bombs need only be released. I would like to see bombs still be place-able if the bomber is attacked while setting it. I think of it kind of like a grenade - once you take the time to pull the pin, it's going to go off.

While I've noticed this while playing vs the creatures in the arcade, it has become more pronounced while playing lockdown as I try to place a bomb but a striker whizzes up and hits me mid-placement.

Thoughts?

Well

I sure Three Rings put in a lot of consideration when deciding how players should go about placing bombs, and the current system keeps things in balance, in LD or otherwise.

You have to keep in mind that you've got what gunners and swordsmen don't have: a balance between damage and range. Gunners might have range but piss-poor DPS - conversely, swordsmen lack range back pack tons of DPS. Perhaps you need to coordinate with a Guardian teammate to keep yourself protected while charging? Or, in the case of the Clockworks, a teammate to keep the enemies away until you're ready.

Not real sure what you mean.

Now if your talking about being interrupted while charging then they should keep it how it is now but, if your talking about when you charge it and let go of the mouse to drop the bomb and someone goes up and hits you and the bomb doesn't get placed then HECK YEA THEY SHOULD CHANGE IT!

That's what I mean

@ Frocus

That is exactly what I'm talking about. I've actually had latency issues where I will see the bomb placed, I get hit, and the bomb disappears without detonating. Very frustrating.

Ah, I suppose I didn't read the OP properly.
I'd have to agree that if you're already committed to the attack, it shouldn't interrupt you - on the other hand, I think you can do the same with all the weapons, it's just not as noticeable because the Skolvers swing so darn fast.

It'd be kinda cool...

If you could "pick up where you left off" so to speak. Like...

A little bar could appear that would charge up to show the remaining time before you can plant it, but if you don't plant it, the bar slowly (Not super slowly, but not instant) goes down instead of kapoot, you're screwed.

I actually tease bombers in LD this way. I walk over there and peashoot them to death with an AP and they can't do much about it. lol

I know

@ Severage

You've done it to me multiple times. ;) It's why I try to stay with a support crew. 1 on 1 vs a striker doesn't normally end well for me.

@Numnut:

Um...

I'm not a striker. xD

I'm a Guardian; I don't use Heart Trinkies so I stick to Guardian.

BUT It's nice to know that my peashooting has finally paid off.

Yea

i know that when some one charges a bomb I rush them to cancel the bomb but yes this needs to be fixed it's hapend to me too but in LD I go double sword recon because my guns are bad my bombs are even worse (exept for jk which I always take my freeze bomb ) and I have a 4 star sword other wise all 3 star

Reminds me of the short time

Reminds me of the short time i played WoW as a mage and my friend had installed a latency mod on it so that my recharge bar had a marker on it telling me when I should press fire again in order to make up for latency. VERY handy it was.

@Hex:

"i played WoW as a mage"

Not sure why you'd have any problems as a Mage, if you rolled an Arcane.

Their rotation is 11111111111111111111111111211111111111111111111.

If you did a Fire mage on the other hand, yeah latency would be a huge problem.

Yeah

It gets frustrating when I have enough time to charge, but keep getting interrupted while setting. Game's still fun, though. It's just something that I think they could change relatively easily (if they wanted), seeing as they already have weapon attacks that can't be interrupted.

YES please ... I've had so many instances where this happens .. and also times where I'm trying to place bombs ASAP and end up stopping RIGHT before it charges up ... would be nice to not have to start charging again from scratch, instead of shaking an unarmed bomb up and down like a silly-head

I like the responses so far

It looks like I'm not the only one who's had this problem. Some type of recovery placement would be nice, like Sev suggested. Also, a timer bar could be useful. I've got the timing down pretty well for when to release a bomb, but it's annoying to see my knight do the "I didn't time this right" bomb dance whenever I try to set it a tad too early.

Fixing the latency issue might solve this problem and others

Had this happen to me once recently, I can see it being annoying for a bomber. Us gunners have a somewhat similar issue of bullets hitting a target and *GASP* nothing happens.

Even with constant full connection bars, I still see a large amount of latency in this game.

@Trollingyou

Agreed. Latency seems to be a particular issue in Lockdown. It's kind of hit or miss with me when I'm roaming the clockworks.
