Looking into the scope of my gun, I swiftly put it into focus, and saw my target several hundred yards away. For a rookie, it would be an impossible shot, but I was no rookie. Before starting my routine I briefly pondered why I had taken this job. My main target was the not some random guild master. The master suddenly walked toward the Haven Bazaar, and I had to turn the gun completely to keep up with him.
I had taken this job because my employer promised me certain…. items… in return for “a turn-around.” That was a name I made up for when the employer would want him out of the way, but not eliminated. It would just be so much easier if he destroyed the fool. I snorted but quickly stopped myself when I realized someone could hear me. I quickly refocused on the target.
It was a beautiful day, not in my taste at all. In the orange sunset I could see the targets flowing skolver robes, with an Azure guardian helm, and a blackened crest slung across his back. A gentle breeze tugged against a nearby knights gunslinger armor. Haven was bustling with activity today: Even from up here, I could hear the excited ramblings of knights who wanted to find….. Well from what I heard, someone called a game master. What was the game though?
A few knights were laughing in the garden below me, causing me to blow a fuse.
“Stupid knights” I mumbled. “Don’t know anything…”
The target walked up on the stairs and waved a warm greeting to the knights, who returned with a wave and a carefree laugh.
Entering the Bazaar walked over to Béchamel and had a brief word with her. After that he started towards an abandoned alley, “The perfect place”, I thought to myself. I positioned myself on the master’s left building in the alley, just above two snipes. They were both very strange. One pulsed a light emerald green, and I can’t say what the other one was.
The one I couldn’t say said, “So Coriosis, what were you just doing?”
So apparently snipes had names. And they talked…..
“Well, I just went around Haven with some idiot knights chasing after me. One knight named Atgatg was pretty cool though. ((*Wink wink*))
Enough with the snipes, I turned my attention back to the target. He was out of anyone’s earshot, so no one would know. And when he came to, he’d think it was a dream.
I loaded what looked to be a tranquillizer dart, with similar effects, but yet it was so very different. It’s tip was specially made not to go through, or stay attached to the knight, but it would bang of said knight. The whole thing was made of a material that would dissolve after use in a time of 13 hours.
The scope was aimed at his left leg, just above the knee, and with one push of a finger the trigger was pulled. I watched for a few seconds then wondered why the target was still moving. Surely I didn’t miss.
It couldn’t this gun had technology that normal knights wouldn’t be able to purchase in decades. It had a long barrel, slick and ready. A black tube that held the darts, and of course, the scope.
The gun made noise though, and the two snipes below me looked up at me with big round eyes.
Coriosis yelled, “What the #$@! Is that! We never designed a SNIPER RIFLE!”
I aimed the gun at the snipe signaling for it to shut up, and both of them flew away.
The target down below heard us, and ran around the corner.
But it wasn’t the worst of my news, when I felt a gun’s barrel push against the back of my neck.
“Hands up, Valen” the voice hissed.
I had been working for ten years, taking jobs to earn cash for my work, and trying to avoid this guy.
I cursed under my breath.
“Frostrex…!”
A few things before I start my next chapter: Im am going to make up your personalities and don’t bother complaining. Because frankly, I don’t care.

Chapter 2: Frostrex
I stayed frozen in position for a few seconds thinking of something to say. Just ahead the sun was slowly moving down giving the red sky an even darker look. The grass looked crimson and still so beautiful.
But I focused on the man behind me, the one who had been trying to kill me ever since the plantation’s destruction.
“Anything to say?” Frostrex said in a mocking tone, and although I didn’t see him I could tell he was grinning.
“Nothing except that you’re an idiot.”
He let out a genuine laugh, and pressed the gun farther into my neck, but I tried not to flinch. Up ahead the sun had set with it’s last rays reaching up into the sky like fiery arms. By the time they had retreated to the hills, the guards had brought some handcuffs and some transportation had arrived.
“We’ve been waiting for this day for a long time.” Frostrex said.
“Thursday?” I said, acting dumbfounded. “Some wait…”
He kicked me onto my side and I groaned on the ground. I in my line of sigh was a building. But I saw that someone was hiding behind it, someone with bomber armor…..
I got up on my knees and started to get up on the dirty roof.
“No, no. You don’t get to stand.” Frostrex said. He Kicked knee inflicting great pain and sending on my knees. My head thunked on the ground and I could see some dust floating away. A young spiral knight came in front of me looking down. I felt the familiar handcuffs and heard the click. The knight retreated backwards and walked away.
Suddenly my senses felt heightened.
Now was the time.
I brought my head back, hitting Frostrex’s forehead and giving me a headache. I got up and turned towards him. Getting of one knee he gritted his teeth and unsheathed his sword.
“Same old Frostrex” I thought. Still in his skolver set….. He suddenly slashed at me. I jumped back, bumping the edge of the roof. The next time he slashed his sword I put my handcuffs in front of me hoping the sword would slice them off, but I got a much different result. His sword collided with my arm and I felt a searing pain. Looking down I saw that my arm had a huge cut in it, at least a half inch in. Frostrex jumped to my side and slashed at my legs leaving my armor leg in tatters. He swung his arm out and hit my face which got me to fall to the ground defeated.
Before anything else happened, a huge explosion took place, rocking the building and disorienting the knights. A few of them even jumped of the building and ran away thinking it’d collapse. Through the thick smoke I saw a red figure in a bomber set run next to me holding a bomb above him. He set it down, took my hand, and together we jumped off the roof and into the alley.
~
It was damp and musty down here, with water dripping somewhere. A shelf in the corner had a seerus mask that looked beyond repair, and it creeped me out…. It appeared to be looking at me Pipes were everywhere, in the ceiling and the floor, if you didn’t watch out, you could trip.
. I turned away and saw the bomber, checking his arsenal. He looked at me and said, “Another mess I had to drag you out of.”
He used a tool to snap my handcuffs.
“Hey” I put my hands in the air In front of me defensively with the handcuff chains clinking against metal. That movement caused a line of pains which made me ask for a health pill. “I didn’t mess up. They knew I’d be there.”
He scoffed. “Well next time I hope you figure that out quicker.”
I went over to the desk that sat in the middle of the room. On it, was the schematics for a warehouse. I picked it up, “What’s this?”
“Nothing!” he snarled. He plucked it out of his hands and put it in his pocket.
“Man I hate working with you…. I get no privacy to my things….”
I shrugged, and said, “Well alright. Anyway, would you do me a favor?”
He looked at me with a small twinkle in his eye. “Favor?”
I smiled and nodded, “There’s a certain knight who seems to think he can get off without paying us. Set him straight.”
He nodded happily and said, “Man, I love working with you.”
“Well, you should.” I tossed him a sack. “Atrumvindex. Go get Pow.”
