Recreation Station

With the new update concerning changing player height and eye style, I thought I would suggest something that may simplify the process of integrating this system into the game while offering up a few things that players have wanted for a while. Although something similar may already be in development, I would like to leave my input anyway.

I'm sure you can tell from the lame title of this thread where this is going to so I'll just get to it.

The Recreation Station is a place available to you courtesy of Bechamel, which allows you to recreate your Knight as if it's your first time logging in. It essentially gives you all of the options the Character Creation screen does, but charges you for what you change.
It also allows you to change the style and colour of your Proto Armor, at the cost of losing your old Proto Armor, including all attached accessories.

Each option is as follows:

  • Height Adjust
  • Eye Style
  • Personal Color
  • Proto Helmet Style
  • Proto Armor Style
  • Proto Armor Coloration

The standard price for changing your Personal Colour is used as a baseline for any change made. So the initial change will cost you 50,000 Crowns. However additional changes after this are significantly reduced, to 10,000 Crowns each.
This makes a complete makeover cost 100,000 Crowns, which I think is a fair price.
And also an even number. Can't go wrong with even numbers.

For every subsequent use of the Recreation station, you are charged an additional 50% for the appearance change. Up to a maximum of 337,500 Crowns per use. This taxation period lasts for 30 days after the first change and is put in place to stop people abusing the service. It effectively limits you to one or two complete changes a month unless you want to pay extreme amounts of money.

For the first week that this feature becomes available, every player will receive one free use of the Recreation Station. This is obviously, to placate the players who have already created characters and will not have access to the Character Creation screen like new players to get access to the changes.

Anyway, that's my idea.

+1 for unified appearance adjustment area

Pricing up for debate, but sounds good.

Although I'm pretty sure there are a few Jezebel/Susans here...

Hm...

This actually sounds kind of cool. Correct me if I'm wrong, but essentially what you're suggesting is giving existing knights one (relatively) cheap ticket for a complete makeover so that they don't have to buy each change individually. Of course, one thing that's unique to the Recreation Station is the ability to change around knights' Proto equipment, and although I rather like what I'd chosen when I started, I think this would make quite a few players happy.

I don't know if I fully agree with the price being so (relatively) low, but I do like me some even numbers. Either way, the "subsequent makeover tax" seems like a reasonable way of mitigating abuse of the price.

+1 to this, I suppose.

Seems like a nice change, and I have been longing to change my proto armor for a long time. However, what if I don't want to change my personal color? Will it let me pick the one I already have, making the 50k a base fee and the color change just an additional, free bonus? Other than that concern, I like it.

If you don't make the change,

If you don't make a change, you're not charged.

So if you just wanted to change your eye style, it would cost you 50,000 Crowns and changing your Personal Color on top of that would make it 60,000, as opposed to two separate charges of 50,000 Crowns each. Anything not modified doesn't add to the cost.

I like it, but then again Shoebox rarely posts bad suggestions so that is not really a surprise.

I picked the dumbest proto armor color when I started. My alt looks cooler than me x_x I'd gladly hand over my CR for a refresh.

Probably won't use but I like

Probably won't use but I like the idea. And since they are adding height can they also add weight/width? Having a bunch of fat knights waddling around would be pretty funny.

Edit: What if this is put into the ready room? There is already a unique view of your knight in there so it would stand to measure that's where you would edit it.

I don't think the Height

I don't think the Height Adjust option is very good. It would be a way to display inflated ego and of course the majority of players would make their character as high as possible. This is reserved for NPCs and I think it should remain that way.

Eye changing should be implemented though.

Height adjust has already been implemented. Did someone say that it was going to be changable for PCs as well?

Necro

I'm going to go ahead and take the liberty of necroing this thread, as it is just as relevant now as it was when height/eye modifiers were first released (if not more relevant).

I'd also like to suggest the ability to add one of the now-free accessories to one's proto gear, at standard cost according to the OP.

I don't think the accessories

I don't think the accessories should be included, because they come from lockboxes and the ones circulating in the game cost somebody an equivalent $2.49 to acquire. You could at least give that 10k-20k for the accessory to soften the blow for the poor Knight who opened the thing rather than making 99% of what comes out of lockboxes completely and totally worthless.

Ill just give you my

Ill just give you my opinion.

I would totally get short.

Anyway I was thinking why should we pay? We've been in this game longer, and for that we might have to pay 100k cr that the new players get free?
In MY opinion we could have something like this (Recreation station) and until.... I dunno, a week, it would be free. That would be enough time for older players to get it changed. But after that, you pay.

thats just my opinion.
