'Shoulder armor' accessory slot

The idea this is the part that actually needs to be talked about
Armors gain a new accessory slot (except Skelly, Jelly, maybe ponchos and armors mentioned below) which adds onto the upper body. I'll call them 'upper body accessories', they add onto the chest and shoulders like the guardian armor does.
It may result in slightly less 'helmet dominance' by giving armors equal slots to helmets.
I would say that some should be token rewards but that's not the point of the suggestion.

What already exists or, The 'why I think it's possible to do this already' part
There are currently 3 armors that are just a normal armor plus an asymmetrical addon. I checked the game files and the armor consists of two pieces
-Azure Guardian = Cobalt + Left arm armor, a cape and shin pads
-Snarbolax Coat = Wolver + Left arm armor with a large spike on the shoulder
-Almirian Crusader = Plate Mail + a large shoulder plate with three cone-spikes, a cape, a loose string and some fur.
Then there is the Guardian PvP gear that goes on any armor it wants

Designs for these new things or, The part you don't actually need to read
Lichen on shoulder
Mecha knight exhaust and other stuff
A gear cut in half, ripping off Almirian Crusader
Something based on Seerus's clothing
An item covered in fur like the Darkfang shield desc. leaving this here for now
Suggest more if you want.

Changing the title constantly because I don't think it's working well

Might want to upload that pic. Your thread will get a lot more attention if you do.

Doctor, are you sure this will work?

The "existing accessories" which are part of the armor are part of the armor; they are not accessories, they are supposed to be there. If there were an endoskeletal model to base what is an accessory or not then I would agree that armors do have various interesting parts, but seeing as our knights must always have a helmet and torso armor this is not the case.

Lichen on shoulder, hurr. Can I name mine Polly?

Someone already made an exhaust pipe. Look at this thread.

A gear shoulder pad, I can see that. Some armors may have clipping issues so the gear would have to be fairly large to cover anything.

Do you mean this shield? It says there is fur stuck to it, but on the actual model there appears to be none. You want an "item" for this? What kind of item? Is it a material, token, helmet, weapon? The shield only refers to having fur on it in the description; it actually refers to tufts stuck to it after you killed a gremlin to steal their shield.

As the above post suggests, post the picture for those who enjoy their ability to see.

"The "existing accessories" which are part of the armor are part of the armor; they are not accessories"
But, the game files have them separated, I can put the Snarby part onto an ash tail coat, or the almirian part onto valkyrie, etc
I downloaded spiral spy JUST to do that

"Someone already made an exhaust pipe. Look at this thread."
*grumbles that now I have to upload the drawings to have this make sense because I drew it on the shoulder*

"Do you mean this shield?"
I was referring to the shield (it's description) to try and get an idea (and I said the shields name anyway).

*update* pics: Mecha Muffler (on the shoulder and completely ruined by other rabbit droppings) and Gear and wires (the wires may be a bad idea)

I heard pictures would help get attention. Then why is a pets thread getting more attention? /e adds two new pictures in.
Lichen on shoulder
Something based on Seerus if you look closely at him
If someone talks 'the idea' to death then I'll stop drawing and shut up. /e is editing opening post, again.

Having a lichen on your shoulder is like having the snipe on the Prismatic Stranger costume but for your armor. This would be more fitting for a helmet.
The Seerus garb is nice, but it will cause clipping issues with certain armors or not appear at all due to girth.
The gear is nice. The only issue I see with it is clipping on thicker armors.
The muffler should be attached to the back as wings are, and there should be a pair to properly mimic Mecha Knights.

Overall, these are well done. Not perfect, but definitely better than the majority of suggestions. It may not be quite as good as this, but is definitely something to be proud to have created.

Long posts are how I show I care. The same applies for many forum users.

This looks awesome. So what you're also saying is that armour with an attachment already there wouldn't support the accessory?

Those wires would look better if they were a sash. But I think another armour already does that.

armour with an attachment already there wouldn't support the accessory?
It make sense, a skolver coat has an aura already, so it doesn't accept auras. /e now thinks OOO recycled skolver aura code to make the aura slot
An armour such as Azure Guardian has an attachment, so it shouldn't accept another.

wires, sash, other armour does it
I copied bits out of the 'existing ones' and put them onto the earlier designs, then regretted it (it's blue, I can't rub it out :<).

I'm more concerned with the concept but if the 'art' helps then I don't mind drawing more.

A lichen on a helmet would fit better, after all the arms move around. Not sure if knights will like slime running down their faces, but at-least the lichen is comfy.

I think Jelly and Skelly are the main culprits of having huge shoulders.
Wolver coats have a lot of fur but it doesn't stop snarby coat having a spike.
Plate mail may be problematic for smaller designs.
Shoulder plates of most armours never extend much further than a pith helm though.

The muffler was slightly based on the snarbolax coats' spike, I was just stealing ideas. It could make sense if it were a trophy and not used as a muffler, but I see your point (the 'dress up as a mecha knight' point right?).

@all
What do you think of another new accessory slot for armours?
I think helmet customisation vs armour customisation is uneven as of now and if the 'eyes update' comes out as speculated it will only get out of balance.

DO WANT.

Yes, i REALLY want this extra slot! especially since i want to be able to run around wearing both my regal parrying blade and a vanguard crest (when i get one :S).

Hwat?

Parrying blade and crest.. huh?
I'm not sure you understand the suggestion, it's a completely new slot for a different part of the armour, it's in basic terms the 'PvP Guardian armour act-a-like slot', where you wear things on your shoulders and around the chest.

/e is still having trouble getting a discussion going, perhaps it's the threads name..

Nice drawings, and, just from speculation, they WILL add a hood/upper slot. :) Look in the game folders for armor accessories. Someday, they will use that.
What you want is a SHOULDER slot I believe. And I agree COMPLETELY. Make this happen, OOO.

+1 on my own behalf and another +1 for my husband, who would very much like a shoulder slot of sorts. He wanted me to make the suggestion (as he does not use the forums) but here I find there already is one :D

Though the way you have it mapped out, it looks like there would be ONE shoulder slot for both shoulders and some accessories would use this slot only half-way? Or would there be two slots, and you would have to double the accessory if you wanted something on both shoulders?

Metrulizer's picture

@Vifig

Basing it on armours like Almirian Crusader it should be one slot.
The drawings were only to give an idea of what I was thinking, one slot should take up the both shoulders and (can) cross over the chest, it can cover arms too but it doesn't have to.
This is every part of the body that this slot can be able to take up/be 'bonemerged' to (in blue).

I want a parrot for my shoulder. It would go well with the proposed eye patch. And a flint-lock revolver/pistol that would go where the parrying blade would go on the front of the armor.
