Idea for a new weapon series

This suggestion is for a series of Whip-like weapons called Whiplashes. What this weapon lacks in damage it makes up for with an above-average attack speed and a very good reach (plus it'd give us some "fast" swords/melee weapons that aren't Piercing or Normal)
The Normal attack consists of a basic 3-swing combo (swing left, swing right, swing left again or the other way around)
For the Charged attack the Knight lashes out with the whip. Any enemy hit by this attack receives a decent amount of damage and is yanked towards the wielder.
From the basic 2-star normal-damage item the Whiplash splits into three paths:
-The Razorwind series, which are identical to the normal Whiplash aside from higher stats.
-The Helltongue series, which deals Shadow damage (with a chance of inflicting Fire.) It has a more 'Demonic' appearance and the whip itself is now covered in an eerie 'Dark Fire'
-The Gigajoule series, which deals Elemental Damage, it has a 'High-Tech' aesthetic and a whip made out of Energy.
Weapon Names
2-Star: Whiplash
3-Star (N): Barbed Whiplash
3-Star (S+F): Fiendish Whiplash
3-Star (E): Energetic Whiplash
4-Star (N): Savage Whiplash
4-Star (S+F): Infernal Whiplash
4-Star (E): Charged Whiplash (named by Schattentag)
5-Star (N): Razorwind
5-Star (S+F): Helltongue
5-Star (E): Gigajoule

" What this weapon lacks in damage it makes up for with an above-average attack speed and a very good reach (plus it'd give us a "fast" sword/melee weapon that isn't Piercing.)"
Ever heard of cutter series? fast, low damage sword that isnt piercing :p
Not saying the rest of the idea is bad, but I like to invalidate arguments ^_^

Yeah, what I meant was "Not Piercing or Normal Damage" I've fixed that now :P

I really like this idea. We've need a "pulling" weapon ever since the pepperbox bug was fixed.

We've always had "pulling" weapons. They're called vortex bombs. :)
Seriously though, this does seem like a relatively reasonable iteration of the old whip idea. For the 4* of the Plasma line, how about: Charged Whiplash, Arc Whiplash, or Lightning Lash? Unoriginal, I know, but I figured I'd throw 'em out there. On the subject of naming, is it completely necessary to have "Whiplash" at the end of each name? I feel like Helltongue is cool enough on its own.

i like this idea actually.
i love weapons that offer unique and flexible utility, while also not being super powerful. if any sword class weapon were to pull enemies, youve got it spot-on with the whip idea.

After reading the first paragraph my first thought was "Osamodas". Not that my Wakfu obsession is out of the way I may now address the content of this thread.
The attack mechanics seems simple; lash out and pull things toward you. Finally, something to grab gremlins. Do all three lines have the same mechanics or are they only differentiated by damage type and statuses afflicted? Keep in mind having a status means less damage than counterpart lines without statuses. Also, in terms of ten bars being maximum, how much damage would whips have?
For the weapon mechanics, assuming all three lines are the same, would it be fair to be three fairly long range lashes? Rapiers are supposed to be a more "straightforward" variant of "standard" sword lines (Calibur, Brandish) by trading swing width for jabbing a further distance in the direction of the attack, though the first swing is questionable; it knocks back too far. I am not referring to how it is used in Lockdown, I mean when I want to use my Final on Slags on the second floor in Firestorm Citadel and swinging twice consecutively makes the second swing not lunge far enough to meet where the first swing knocked it back; only by standing so close to it that I am trying to run through it and swinging twice does it connect on both hits.
The charge attack for this concept lassos the target and pulls them to you; Graviton/Electron is designed to do this and has siginificant nerfs to movement speed while charging and suction range. To favor balance, the charge attack must only be able to grab one target under any circumstances. Also, the normal attacks would imitate the no-strafe mechanic of Magnus lines to prevent flailing.

All 3 weapon series would work the same way and differ only in appearance and damage types
Here's how many bars damage I think they should do (comparing them to the 5-star Flourishes and Cutters) though I'm not that good at number crunching...
Razorwind: 5.5 bars
Helltounge: 6 bars
Gigajoule: 6.5 bars
I don't do PvP so I'm not sure how (un)balanced they'd be there.
I know this kinda overlaps with the Vortex Bombs (I only just realized that their damage types match up as well) but the Whiplashes can only snag one or two enemies per charge, whereas the Vortex Bombs can suck up entire groups (and linger around to boot.)

This idea is really good! Some quick adjustments to the damage though...
Razorwind: 6.5 bars
Helltongue: 6 bars (Fair chance of causing Moderate fire)
Gigajoule: 6 bars (Fair chance of causing Moderate fire)
When a weapon has special effects, it usually does a bit less damage, and has a status effect to match it. The speed of the whip should be 8 bars. The charge attack: first whip lash causes targeted monsters to be wrapped and pulled right in front of you. Second whip lash causes monster to be launched back 5 blocks (to give you a bit of breathing room) and cancel whatever attack the monster started. The entire charge attack will take about the time of the divine avenger's 2nd swing.

I agree with apophis though, and maybe the charge could be an extended version of the first and seconds shot combined, with some special effects. ._.

This is actually a very good idea... A whip:
1st attack: sideswipe (like the flourish line swipe, except with a much longer reach, maybe 4 blocks, and 5 blocks wide?)
2nd attack: overhead (a more powerful lunge from above, swinging downward with a crack, 5 blocks forward and 2 blocks wide?)
(downside of whip should be it can't lunge and stab forward...)

Good idea here... though I WILL say this: If we have a first swing thats like a flourish, and is FASTER, PVP will be EVEN MORE unbalances... so keep this in mind...
But still, good job!
Not only am I famous, but I inspire Hipster...ness... Yeah.

While I was thinking about it maybe the Gigajoule's Energy Whip could be the Knights personal colour?

Weapons nor shields are, at the moment, recolorable. While it probably wouldn't be that hard to make them recolorable, it'd just be easier to give it the sky blueish color used for energy.

some charge attacks change as the weapon advance. how would this weapon charge attack change. you said "Charged attack ...is yanked towards the wielder". so i was thinking of a way to change it would be having star 2 to 3 be able to pull small enemies like mecha knights, Devilite and so on and star 4 to 5 be able to pull big enemies like lumber, Giant Lichen Colony.
* also i was thinking the effect to pull towards you shouldn't affect bosses like the jelly king, snarbolax. and obviously it wouldnt affect roamulus twins and stationary enemies like the gun puppies and Polyp. they should not affect the trojans because they have a shield and you already have to get close to them so you can swing around their back to hit their weak point. this would differentiate the star levels so the players can feel that their weapon is leveling up. what do u think Verodius.

Yeah, that's a good idea.
2star: charge attack is a small pull that pulls smaller monsters towards you by 1 block.
3star: charge attack pulls 2 blocks
4star: charge attack pulls 3 blocks, then pushes them back out 2 blocks.
5star: charge attack pulls 4 blocks, then pushes back out 3 blocks.
All the time the whip is in contact it would do damage.

I love this idea. Sounds like a lot of fun.
I always enjoyed using whips, lassos, and the like back in the days when I played D&D.

this whiplash idea reminds me so much of the chroma monsters in the game. this weapon would be a nice combo with my chroma set.
I kind of like this idea, actually.
While the weapon itself doesn't have any particularly fancy mechanics, it does compensate with a very interesting charge attack; ergo pulling enemies towards you.
This will make it a lot easier to finish off fleeing opponents such as Gremlins and whatnot; trick is you'll need another sword or a close ranged weapon with this as a sidearm or it'll spell doom for you.
That being said though, this makes a very good utility weapon for sword and Blitz Needle users.
