Is the Omega Shell good?, and is the Dragon Scale Shield good? Which is better in overall the pure normal dmg omega or the pierce and elemental dragon better?
Is Omega Shell a good shield? Omega Shell 5* VS Dragon Scale 5*
Seems like i need to question anout Aegis is it quite nce to hold an aegis?
Aegis is a normal/piercing shield. If you are a sword user, I would aim for barbarous thorn shield instead.
Although the barbarous thorn shield has a bit less piercing and normal defense than the aegis, it makes up for it with its medium sword damage bonus ability.
Aegis, on the other hand, has no special ability and is fairly balanced in terms of piercing and normal defense. An advantage of choosing aegis is that it is much easier to obtain than the barbarous thorn shield since the recipes are given to you as mission rewards.
The recipes for the barbarous thorn shield have to be bought from basil in the clockworks.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Other similar shields you might want to consider are the royal jelly shield and ironmight plate shield. They are both piercing/normal shields like the barbarous thorn shield and aegis, but are not as conservative.
The royal jelly shield has more piercing than normal defense. It also comes with stun and sleep resistances, but they are not particularly useful.
The ironmight plate shield has a lot more normal defense than piercing defense. It also comes with stun resistance and the resistance is somewhat useful (lumbers and vana's mace both have stun damage).
This is just my opinion, and correct me if I am mistaken or forgetting something, but . . . :
Overall, if you are primarily a sword user and want a piercing defense shield: I would choose the barbarous thorn shield.
If you are not a sword user and want a shield purely for piercing defense: I would choose the royal jelly shield.
If you want a general purpose shield but also want some piercing defense: I would choose the ironmight plate shield.
If you want a cheap shield with piercing defense: I would choose the aegis.

What Rainxo said is spot on. Nothing to add.
Nuts. I got a Wyvern scale shield from one of the boxes after defeating JK. :/
If you want an opinion from someone who has both of these shields, they are both actually far from "useless."
Often there may be better options for levels, but I find that I use my Dragon Scale shield more often than the Omega.
Despite having no normal defense, the Dragon Scale shield in the right levels tanks damage LIKE A BOSS. That's all in caps for a reason.
It's not great in tier 1/2, but in tier 3 now that more enemies are doing pure damage types it can be incredibly versatile.
It excels in clockworks tunnels levels that are poison or fire themed and either elemental or piercing damage (though Owlite is better for fire/elemental, obviously.)
Often times you can and will encounter both piercing and elemental and it comes in handy in those places.
In beast or slime areans with poison or fire themes, it's good for 90% of the enemies that are in the level, so it saves you from times when you are in a beast arena and suddenly a Blight Knight cuts your thorn shield down in one or two hits. It will take that hit as well as it will take a rabid wolver bite (which is to say, quite well.)
Things to remember if you're using a dragon scale shield: Which enemies do normal damage, and which do not. It holds up great against poison and fire gun puppies since in tier 3 I don't think they even do any normal damage, same goes for retrodes and some wolver attacks.
It CAN take poison and fire lumber hits, but it's kind of poor against polyp turrets. Best not to use it against gremlins or enemies that do more normal damage or no status.
I have accidentally joined a friend in a Poison Candlestick Keep level, thinking that I would be able to re-equip in the level and been stuck using it there.
Despite having neither normal or shadow, it help up far better than I expected, and actually could take a few howlitzer hits in a row and didn't break during the whole level.
As for the Omega, it's basically just good for a stop-gap if you don't have an ideal shield for a level.
If you come up on... lets say a Freeze wolver den, it will hold up well if you don't have a shield with both piercing and freeze - generally it makes up in health what it loses by not having the ideal defenses.
Now that less of tier 3 does normal damage, it's a lot less useful than before the mission update.
Dragon scale shield biggest disappointment in my sk life it breakes so easly that sometime makes you cry
take a frienly advice don't even think about it
Drake is AWESOME it saves you from being pummled by Hammers AND Flourishes in PvP (Oh wait.)
Omega is the BEST, cause the high HP saves you from all the little flying pellets! (...)
Take it from me, A non shield user. :D (...Is she stupid or something?)

I've never used either of these shields, but I've studied their stats, and Rainxo's description makes sense to me. I would just add that, if you're the kind of player who bothers to read the Arsenal forum, then you care enough about equipment not to go for Aegis just because its recipe is free.
I'm really posting to say: Tsubasa-No-Me, your new signature is vastly preferable to your old one. Congratulations and thank you. (Consider putting it all on one line? Okay, now I'm pushing my luck.)
Mkay, I'm glad... I didn't really want to offend anyone... So I'm glad that it (hopefully) wont.

Well I have been seeing some people using Omega Shield and i assume it is somewhat impossible to break?? Thats why i am asking is it a good one... Anyways im making a swiftstrike....
If you're making swiftstrike, don't even bother trying to block attack after T2 (it's counteractive to my instincts, grr). The "shield" part ends after "shield bump".
Stone tortoise/omega shell was one of the most popular shields about an year ago. From what I've seen,it could take a ton of damage! VPS is definitely more popular than omega shell, and it's not tough to see why(fire and stun resistance). Anyway,if you are going to use swiftstrike then i will assume you aren't among the ones who take loads of damage on their shields,so omega isn't for you.
tl;dr: Skip to the third section.
The Omega Shell holds the status of having the highest shield health in the game, as well as having comparable normal defense to the Ancient Plate Shield (making these two shields two of the highest normal defense shields).
While it is true that the high health of the shield makes it very hard to break, you should ask yourself, "How long do I plan on having enemies bash on my shield?"
To elaborate, shields automatically regenerate their health over a short period of time after taking damage.
You could choose to play it chill and have enemies consecutively hit your shield, or you could move away by way of shield bumping or walking to another location on the map.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On the other hand, a benefit of this shield is that it can take hits from Lord Vanaduke's mace. Its massive health and normal defense would also be very beneficial in the Unknown Passage (area after defeating a Shadow Lair boss).
For this reason, it is also considered to be an excellent "cover-up" shield for situations in which you do not have an appropriate shield for the level/mission or for going into a random level.
It is also considered to be very fashionable by a respectable portion of the population.
Downsides include rebuttals to the benefits. Although this shield can take hits from Lord Vanaduke's mace, other shields can as well. Shields such as the Grey Owlite Shield, Crest of Almire, Volcanic Plate Shield, etc.
All of these shields have benefits for other parts of the Firestorm Citadel as well as other parts of the Clockworks or missions.
The normal protection and health can be beneficial in the Unknown Passage, but by the time most people reach there, they would have defeated Lord Vanaduke several times. So it is likely that those people will have access to an Ancient Plate Shield.
The Ancient Plate shield is considered to be a better shield for the Unknown Passage due to the greater normal protection as well as the helpful stun resistance.
Additionally, the Omega Shell lacks specialized protection and acts as a "cover-up" shield. If you craft 3 shields to cover 3 major types (elemental, piercing, shadow), you won't find much use in that shield (yes, the "cover-up" acts as both a benefit and downside depending on your arsenal).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Again, this is just opinion, but overall, if you are planning on crafting/upgrading a piercing shield, an elemental shield, and a shadow shield, I don't think you should make an Omega Shell. My reason being that you probably will not find much use in having a fully normal shield and because you will have the opportunity to pick up an Ancient Plate Shield after defeating Lord Vanaduke a few times. Coincidentally, this also provides you an opportunity to pick up the Blackened Crest (which upgrades to the Crest of Almire).
Since you are crafting a Swiftstrike Buckler (which is an excellent choice), I assume you are planning on having an assortment of shields. You are probably skilled enough to shield bump and shield cancel. So I implore that you reconsider making an Omega Shell.
However, if you are not planning on crafting/upgrading that many shields, then the Omega Shell might be pretty useful to you. It will also allow you to save up your tokens for a Blackened Crest faster.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Disclaimer: I do not own an Omega Shell. But here is a forum post from someone who does: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/48342#comment-321613

I liked Tsu's old signature, it was funny.
why did you change it, Tsu? 3:
I mean the new one works i guess.
That Omega Shield can take the Vanaduke's fire breath and turn to Cyan color.... Thats why I wanted to ask abt this shield!
Dragon Scale is too bad at tanking, rendering it useless when another shield would have withstood the hit.
Omega Shell is too good at tanking, making it quite unnecessary in a game where movement is more vital to success than extensive blocking. Also, its lack of specialized defense means that any of the three types of turrets will gun you down easily.
Yes I DO have both, cuz I'm Fancy.
Dragon Scale shield as people say is great for SOME stages... extremely specific ones. --> tends to break extremely easily, shatters if hit directly by lumber.
Omega Shell is my main shield since I'm poor, however it's still serving me well. It has ludicrous amounts of HP, and can withstand basically everything so far except an Alpha wolver 3 hit combo where it CAN withstand 2 out of 3 hits. If I remember correctly it can withstand a trojan shield rush and the sword hit ( I think), it can also withstand a direct lumber hammer - mainly because they're hits are basically full normal. It's not the GREATEST shield however it's a great multipurpose shield, tho i would recommend if you have the time and money to grab (if swordy) a barb thorn shield, or a grey owlite.
Edit: Oh and the omega shell is purple :D.
Both are not popular (because they are not that great) but Dragon Scale is particulary bad.
- Dragon Scale doesn't have normal defense. Considering there is normal damage everywhere, even in T3, it's bad. And there is very few situations where you need both piercing and elemental at the same time.
- Omega Shell is not that bad, it's actually usable. But people generally prefer to have specific defense (elemental, piercing and shadow) and take the right shield. There is a huge difference between a specific shield and a normal shield against specific damage.
And if you really want a normal shield, VPS do the job better, because it has fire and stun status resistances, while Omega Shell have no status resistance at all.
On the good side, both those shield are arguably stylish. Unfortunately, there is no costum slot for shields.
