So I saw quotefanboy's thread and I was like :0 so I decided to make my own new boss. He has put a construct in now, but at first he was lazy about it, which is where this came from.

Boss name: Mechabomination

Appearance: A huge, retrode-like robot. It seems a lot more complete than the original retrode. It has a left arm that appears to be a bunch of other construct parts thrown together, with a gun puppy for a hand. The right arm looks almost like the original, but far more refined, and it has an actual five-fingered hand for a hand. The chest area has gears assembled into an armor-like shape, and the abdominal area is actually organic, and it looks like an actual stomach, albeit more zombie-like. Its legs are lumber arms, and the knees are lumber stomach gears. The head is unchanged, but the eyes flash between different status colors, and there are six.

Mission name: Orderly chaos

Stage design:

Level 1: A haphazard area full of randomly assembled walkways. Gremlins and constructs run amok, and there are moving platforms suspended from rails overhead. One of the party buttons actually starts up a movement system for the platform it's on, rips it away from the rest of the path, and places it somewhere else.

Level 2: This level appears more refined, but occasionally, the Mechabomination will reach up and slam its gun puppy hand through the floor, shoot a few bullets, then flee. The final room consists of fending off enemies while attempting to damage the hand enough in an odd and violent version of whack-a-mole.

Boss stage: A large, open platform with random uncrossable holes in it.

Battle:

Stage 1: The Mechabomination moves around and attempts to smash or shoot his foes.

Attacks:
Puppy shot: Shoots one or several bullets along the ground from the gun puppy.
Smash: Uses his right arm to smash the ground. Does moderate damage.
Stomp: Tries to stomp a knight directly in front of him. Powerful, but very slow.

Stage 2: The boss is a bit more careful, and can now use the hand to grab and crush a knight.

Attacks: All from stage 1 plus:
Squeeze: picks up a knight in front of him and crushes it in his hand. If knight shields when he tries to grab, he is instead stunned and raises his hand up in pain.
Beam: Giant retrode beam that inflicts a random elemental status (poison, fire, freeze, shock.)

Stage 3: Loses all caution. Stage initiation includes summoning two gremlin healers.

Attacks: All from stages 1 and 2 plus:
Direct beam: Rushes to the center of the room and starts shooting beams directly at knights from his face. Head can spin 360 degrees during this attack.
Puppy machine gun spin: Places gun hand on floor and spins upper body around rapidly, shooting bullets rapidly the whole time. If knight is hit by hand or arm, they take massive damage and knockback.
Summon healers: summons 2 gremlin healers.

Death: Stumbles around, then suddenly starts to fall apart, eventually turning into a pile of parts that explodes.

Token: Flawless lens- An unscratched lens used in the Mechabomination's face. It keeps a stockpile of them inside its chest armor in case one is damaged.

Token uses: Haphazard blade: a randomly assembled sword made from bits and pieces of metal torn from the clockworks. Does extra damage against constructs.
Alchemy line: Haphazard blade->Welded sword->Refined Sword->Flawless cutlass

Puppy pistol: A pistol that uses the firing mechanism of a defeated gun puppy that does extra damage against constructs. Charge slows the user a little more than other guns, but is a little more powerful
Alchemy line: Puppy pistol->Revolving revolver->Energy driver->Turret torrent

The Haphazard blade and its improvements use a 4-slash combo. Each slash does 50% percent more than the previous, and the charge swing flings bits of metal in a scattered pattern, similar to the snarble barb. Does normal damage.

The puppy pistol shoots slow moving but powerful bullets. The clip size is 3. The charge shot releases a machine gun burst of 5 shots. Shots do elemental damage.

YOU ARE EXPERIENCING A CAR ACCIDENT.

This post is now irrelevant. Blah.

What's this about a Retrode boss?

This seems mostly alright, but I feel like a lot of the mechanics for the boss would be a real pain to implement, most notably the throw. Right now, bosses for the most part follow existing enemy AI except for special phases: Snarbolax follows Wolver except when invulnerable, Royal Jelly follows Jelly Cube except when raging, Vanaduke follows Trojan except during mask (Roarmulus isn't so much a boss as it is a puzzle). This boss seems to require a completely new AI, which is going to require a few more specifics

Do you have specific ideas for the mechanics of the token rewards? As-is, the sword idea provides no useful information such as damage type and attack pattern. If the gun shoots in a spread like Gun Puppies do, then I am against it for the fact that it would take away from gunners' need to aim.

Sorry for the brief response; written on my iPod Touch.

EDIT: added the italicized parts.

Oh look your thread got posts that weren't your own.

I was actually going to make a construct related boss in my Pay to play, no fun allowed, Expansion missions section.

Crud.

Oh well, guess I'll just have to COME ON STEP IT UP!

To give you info though it doesn't seem bad, but to actually grab and "Throw" a knight seems rather hard. By grab I thought of it like the old zombie grab, where you couldn't move. To move you around might be hard to work with.

Also: I'm unsure how difficult it is for them to work with the third dimension. Not many things jump, and if they do they don't go very high. To dangle from the ceiling might be really hard to work with.

Finally: I'm flattered you used my format.

YOU ARE EXPERIENCING A CAR ACCIDENT.

I've updated a couple of the attacks and added attack descriptions for the weapons. Still working on that AI bit.

AI MECHANICS INBOUND!

During the first stage, he acts like a regular Tier 1 Retrode. His stomp is not a special attack, it instead takes the place of the smash sometimes. The special attack is the puppy shot.

The second stage is the complicated one. He only attacks when attacked (Think Gemini Man), but when he does, he goes all out on the attacking knight for 10-20 seconds, then resumes fleeing.

The third stage he acts like a tier 3 retrode except when using a special attack (Direct beam, puppy shot, Squeeze, spin.)

P.S. Mega Man reference Hooray!

Well

I made my construct boss.
Therefore: the first thing in your post is now incorrect.
