So you spend all your mist diving and getting that last bit of mats to craft your lovely new weapon, and post crafting you don't have any energy to test it out?!

So you have a couple guns and you're not really sure which one rocks the most damage?

So you suck and you need a little practice to get your timing down?

Enter the Guild Hall Test Dummy!
These could either be static dummies used only for testing numbers and showcasing your new weapons (Maybe one shaped like a knight with no weaknesses, and then a Beast, a Slime, and a Zombie Etc. For testing different weaknesses?)
Or if you're feeling really extreme over at OOO it could be dummy robo knights with different weaknesses that knockback and down, but don't deal actual damage!

Not really sure how hostile and non-hostile zones work in the code, but it seems fun!

Supporting this idea, though

Supporting this idea, though not enthusiastic about its implementation's chance of actually occurring.

I like this idea. They could

I like this idea. They could go over on the left side of the Guild Halls. where that little barrier is :P.

Maybe even have it to where a terminal spawns a selected monster-dummy, as to save room.

Arena!

Expanding on this, what if instead of creating a "test dummy", you instead built the actual monsters? This could serve as a great material sink, since lots of guilds, and probably even some individual players, would want to build up a full "set" of monsters to put into their testing arena. And since there will always be more monsters added into the game, there will always be more monsters to build, so always a demand for materials. Even further, most likely each guild will want multiple versions of each monster, so for example they can set up a mock fight against 10 devilites, 3 pit bosses, and a trojan.

This would also add in a lot of fun stuff for guilds to do in their guildhouse, setting up tournaments to see who can beat the most monsters, or just a place to train new recruits the strategy to use against 10+ devilites. Seems like you could get a ton of use out of this with relatively little development time. All the monsters are there, you would just need to make the arena, all the interface stuff, new items and recipes for the monsters themselves, and whatever promotional stuff. It would also fit in very well with the basic structure of the game, encouraging people to try and find new monsters to fight so they can stock up their guild's area.

Perhaps to make sure you need to actually kill a bunch of the monsters you're trying to get, you could make it so that each monster drops an "essence" of itself very rarely, which you have to use as the core of the crafted version of it.

You could even do this for bosses, giving guilds a way to train new players how to fight them and practice new strategies. Of course, once you've farmed the boss enough to get it's essence, you don't need to train against it all that much anyways, so perhaps there could be a "limited time offer" sort of deal where the Spiral Knights organization (ingame) sells you a limited-use version of the boss monster to guilds in exchange for a bunch of crowns/energy/materials/whatever, which allows them to get some training against the boss before they actually go in and fight him.

2 words Danger Room

I like the lines that Argentpepper is thinking. it would be neat to have a sort of Xmen style danger room for you to practice your skills (and screen guild members) in a way that gives you no rewards, but carries no risk. Make it cost mats (and maybe some ce) to generate enemies, and enemy unit cap. After you have them made you can keep em. and make it cost a nominal amount of crowns (say 100) to run a simulation.

I really like this idea too!

I really like this idea too! I would like to test out the damage or speed I do with my sword if I was wearing the Ash Tail Coat/swiftbuckler verses if I was not wearing the ash tail coat/swiftbucker.

I like this IDEA! Add it on there!

Also, allow for several types

Also, allow for several types of dummies. Introduce a collectible aspect where guilds can compete to try and get rarer dummies, including the very prestigious stuffed Vanaduke on a post.

Basic dummies could be inexpensive or free to acquire, but still present a new task for a guild to pursue.

I would love to have weapon testing dummies! The whole making monsters to practice thing would also be really nice imo.

Oh wow, that's awesome.

Oh wow, that's awesome. Provides good ways to practice teamwork and general skill, and it would take enough resources to demand input from several people. Down the line could be a system for sharing room designs with other guilds and high score tables to see what guilds can clear what player built rooms the fastest.

Love the idea of a danger

Love the idea of a danger room. However as a newish player I would like the the guild hall to have an armory, where I can try out various weapons before I dump the mats, energy, and time into crafting, or buying from someone.
