Why should let they disappear from the game?
Many people liked it, and it can't be obtained now. There are other rare kat hats (Purring Cap, Feral Kat Hat) for only Game Masters, why can't we be happy with it? The designers shouldn't create new graphics, and it has been programmed earlier. In that way it doesn't require a lot of time them back, and a lot of players would be happy with it.
I hope somebody will do something about it.

maybe they just hadn't balanced out the hats yet? there was so many other items that the GMs have, even the devs may have their own armor etc that they have designed themselves and they wear them. I don't know, it would be cool if they brought them in though.

why not though??
there will always be minor changes and differences once a game is fully released, and just because a particular item existed in the testing phase, doesn't mean it has to be obtainable in the game afterwards.
think about it, since when did spiral knights ever have an update whereas only helmets were released?? making the cat hats obtainable would mean the making of a whole new armour set, and probably weapons as well. this requires a whole lot of work, time, and designing in general, just to satisfy a couple of players who actually are aware of this old design.
sure, i always kind of liked the cat looking hats, they were the very reason I started playing this game, because I thought it would look pretty badass meowing around all day, you know?? though I seriously doubt they'll ever release something like that, considering the vertical vents, which can be obtained through the lockbox, now are availible :v
