*PROBLEM SOLVED* It appears the servers were restarted. After that, it wouldn't work for me until I rebooted my own computer. Since I did that, I haven't had any problems. Thanks guys!
*UPDATE* if anyone sees this thread, it appears the technical issues staff is aware of this problem and is battling it out with the English havens. So far, only scoldings have been given out, but at this point, I feel like a time out is warranted, with the threat of a future spanking. Hello, I tried searching for this in the forums using the search command and did not find this problem already mentioned. If I overlooked it, please simply provide a link, and I am sorry.
I play on Kongregate (made an account here for the troubleshooting forums). My knight is named "Beast-All-Day" without quotations.
I signed on for ranked mission 5-2 "3-star certification", talked to all the shopkeepers browsing their wares, then ran back down and zoned into Haven without completing the mission. Thereupon, my screen became black. I was running full screen with slightly higher resolution settings that were automatically made after the new update to Java a few days ago. I have played at least 8 hours since the JAVA update with no problems. My account has 18 hours logged now with no problems. My computer specs are fine. I have only played on Google Chrome. I have made no hardware or software changes or installations in the past two weeks since I began playing. The problem literally seemed to occur out of nowhere. I was moving in and out of Haven just fine, and then I accepted that mission and suddenly could not return to Haven anymore.
Steps taken to address the problem:
I have since restarted my computer
I did everything in the registry from the troubleshooting FAQ except the last 3 steps because those registry files did not appear in the xproject folder.
I did not download and install Spiral Knights, so there is no file to reinstall.
I am running on 64 bit Windows 7 with 2.4 GHz processor, 4.0 GB RAM, and NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M graphics card.
I am now at an impasse. I can still log in, check all of my links/emails, sign up for missions, etc. but only I cannot enter Haven. Missed out on an auction, but at this point I'd really just appreciate any help I can get from the troubleshooting team on this issue. Thank you very much for your time and assistance! EDIT: NEW INFORMATION
I have since taken the knight on this new account, "Havenihaveaproblem", to Haven. Haven loaded properly with no problems at all. I tried it after this on my main account and it still did not load. Therefore, it is either related to my account on Kongegrate or to the actual champion file. If there is some possibility of a switch away from Kongregate while keeping my champion and assets intact, I'd be fine with that. Otherwise, I'm open to ideas!
EDIT 2:
It worked when I used the "join friend" option when the friend was located in Haven. I ran into the Bazaar, then reentered the town square. I restarted the game and again got the black screen when I tried to enter Haven. Seems like this method is not a permanent fix.
EDIT 3:
It mysteriously worked a second time, this time without using a friend, after I sat in the ready room for about half an hour. I submitted a bug report, then I just tried it on a whim, and it worked. I ran around, went to the arcade zone, did some auction bids, but upon closing the client and starting it up again, I got the black screen again when I clicked to enter Haven. So, I guess it is randomly working now? Maybe.... I don't know how reliable it is right now. Would really prefer a more sure fix. Thanks.
