What weapons are not commonly used or seen? I most have common weapons but I want to have an uncommon weapon.
Uncommon weapons
Probably the most uncommon weapon is the Big Angry Bomb. It does slightly more damage than a Nitronome, and has crazy high knockback. Like smash through a wall knockback. BUT has almost a doubled fuse time and it cuts your walking speed dramatically, making it is a crappy, yet funny (because of the knockback) alternative to the Nitronome.
Pokenuevo forgot a few that I can think of real quick like...
-Irontech Destroyer
-Heavy Deconstructor
-Venom veilor
-Winmillion
Iron slug I actually find to be almost good. Depending on what way it gets buffed, it will become either amazing, or usable.
Currently, Iron Slug relies on flinching enemies. Its good as a side gun, if you've got a damage bonus for it. A damage bonus is needed for it to be able to shoot hard enough to stagger them into not attacking, and a speed upgrade is needed for you to be able to switch to something that deals more damage to beat the crap out of the staggered enemy. A good example of this is when fighting turrets with a sword. Normally, your gun won't be able to flinch the turret so easily- but then you whip out iron slug as the turret is charging up to attack, shoot it once to make it flinch, and then are able to attack it some more. Alternatively, it is possible to hide in the corners of arenas and shoot things with the slug. If you plan to use the slug, you'll want to use it alongside a sword or two- if you really want to be a hipster, use it with winmillion.
If the devs are listening to this, here is a generalization of what I'd like to see changed-
-Fires 20% faster
-Deals 75% more damage
-Reloads 20% faster
-One shot in clip
-Increased ability to stagger
This would take the current strategy towards using the gun, and make it actually work. Why doesn't it work? Because it doesn't always stagger things. If you fail to deal enough damage, you just fail. The thing you're trying to stagger does not stagger, and instead shoots you in the face. Its terrible.

Realistically, if you're hoping to use a hipster weapon, I'd go for the volcanic pepperbox. If I had to choose 2 weapons to beat everything with, I'd go with Radiant Sun Shards and Volcanic Pepperbox. They aren't my favorites, but they are possibly the most effective over the largest range of bosses and enemies in my opinion. Shameless self promotion.
Witty ripostes.
If that fails, a Lovepuppy kiss to the face.
Bam, they're down.
...oh, right, standard weapons. Hurr.
Actually, a considerable number of people make use of the Toxic Needle line (I can name at least six in my guild of 30ish), and Dark Retribution and Fiery Vaporiser line bombs are not uncommon amongst bombers... admittedly, bombers don't seem to be particularly common these days, though.
In addition to the ones previously mentioned, the Flamberge and Rigadoon lines are fairly uncommon, as is the Valiance. I don't see a great number of Gran Fausts around, although that might be because I don't play t3 LD much. /shrug
I would get Supernova, because it is very useful as an utility gun at herding enemies or suppressing turrets (but for the love of god, don't spam). A Flamberge is actually my weapon of choice in t2 LD, losing some of the raw damage for a small chance at fire status... I only got this one because it was amusing watching Recons attempting to shield after being set on fire, actually. Dread Venom Striker is okay as well, due to its staggering ability. Just... don't expect any particularly epic damage output, unless you're some kind of bawss.
If I had to choose 2 weapons to beat everything with, I'd go with Radiant Sun Shards and Volcanic Pepperbox.
I would normally agree, but Sun Shards is going to be removed. :\
During the whole time I've played (about a year) I've seen the following weapons in-game:
-Not a single person using BAB, Irontech, Volcanic Pepperbox or Triglav (I plan to get all of them)
-Nobody using Hunting Blade, Cautery Sword or Iron Slug
-No one but myself using ISB or Venom Veiler (and even I haven't used ISB much; it sucks)
-Myself using Heavy Deconstructor people often stopping to ask me what this mystical, unknown weapon I'm using is. I was actually pretty happy with it for quite a while but only because I didn't have a Nitro.
-Myself and one friend using Callahan after I recommended it when I discovered it was superb against fiends and undead turrets
-One friend using Winmillion
-One person in Lockdown using Sudaruska
-Two friends using Plague Needle and Cold Iron Carver
-A friend and some people in Lockdown using Supernova and Dread Venom Striker
-Myself and several people using Ash of Agni (it kicks butt in arenas)
-Several Dark Retribution users in Lockdown during the no-invinsiframes week (good times)
I've not necessarily seen the full upgraded versions of these.
There's really not much benefit in using Iron Slug instead of Valiance.
Slightly weaker, but more mobility and speed. You even save money on recipes.
There really is no reason to use Iron Slug as Callahan does the same or more damage to 4 families and has more consistent stun. Valiance is more mobile, has more dps, has a nice little knockback per hit, and can also stun turrets on the charge attack (the timings a little finnicky, but it works).
Most weapons that aren't used a lot are not used for a reason... they aren't that good, especially when compared to other alternatives.
As for uncommon weapons that are decent/good-ish:
I use the Callahan a lot. People seem to think that a Blitz is a good enough all-round piercing gun, which is far from the truth. The Blitz Needle is a very situational gun, but people use it all the time as their Piercing Gun. The Callahan will hit just about anything that will dodge, reliably, and knock said thing down. The Beast and Fiend monster lines are known for their speed and dodging, which is what the piercing Callahan excels at.
The Toxic Needle -> Plague Needle is a bit more underpowered than it's pure piercing Counterpart, the Blitz Needle. However, it is adequate and is a good supporting weapon if others have their own Blitz. The problem is how hard it is to get the recipes from Sullivan (Krogmo Coins).
The Flamberge and Rigadoon do inferior damage when compared to the Swift Flourish line. However, they still do good damage and have all the speed of their more common counterpart.
BTW, why are people complaining about Dark Retribution? I've seen two bombers with Dark Retribution (Post-Nerf) pretty much annihilate the entirety of the Ice Queen Shadow Lair, from the first room to boss. You don't see it that often because it does Shadow Damage, and people are too busy doing FSC to try something else.
Iron Slug is getting a boost, though! Sometime in the future!
It's getting buffed 'soon' just like how the core is coming 'soon'.
I hope the RSS change comes simultaneously with the core.
Searing Edge (http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Searing_Edge) and other gears with alchemy path ending before 4*.
Hot edge is common because of the missions. But then people quickly realize its alchemy path is not a complete one, ending in 2*. Most sensible people would quickly switch over to other weapons.
I got one only because it dropped from a box. It looks and sounds great for a low star weapon.
Just like the Steam Summer Sale is coming "soon".
Damn you, Valve Time!
Actually I must be very uncommon ;-) because those are weapons I and at least some of my guild mates use often:
- Callahan
- Dark Retribution
- Dread Venom Striker (upgrade of Cutter)
- Venom veilor
I also see those two quite often:
- Troika
- Fiery Vaporizer
Honestly, unless you're a member of some totally cookie-cutter gang, above weapons can't be consider uncommon.
Really uncommon ones (uncommon even in such hipster guild as the one I belong to) are:
- Irontech Destroyer
- Heavy Deconstructor
- Big Angry Bomb
- Winmillion
the Leviathan Blade is pretty rare, since everyone hates Normal damage.
Levi is used by non-swordies that need a sword. It's a fancy way for demos to break blocks and finish off healers.
The venom bomb isn't uncommon, right? It works well with recons, the defense decrease they each give makes you really prone to attack.
The Civ Is even more rare than levi
Glad to see my Triglav, fierce flamberge, virulent catalyzer, and fiery pepperbox are uncommon! I like to try the less common weapons and gear, which is why I'm going for the mercurial set as a piercing defense set instead of skolver.
-Magnicth the Dragon Mage
Unused or barely used? -3* and up-
-Magnus (and upgrades)
-Cautery Sword
-Troika (and upgrades)
-Catalyzer (and upgrades)
-Heavy Pulsar (and upgrades)
-Big Angry Bomb >:l
-Pepperbox/Toxic Needle (and upgrades)
-Ironized Salt Bomb
-Dark Retribution
-Cutter (and upgrades)
-Haze Bomb/Fire Vaporizer (and upgrades)
^Those are at the top of my head.
