Simple suggestion:
Have a console next to elevators where players can input 3 energy to make the elevator skip a cycle. This would let people wanting to go somewhere specific do so faster, but at a cost.
Simple suggestion:

This seems like a fair idea, and as regular floor payouts are roughly the same, I see little room for abuse.
I assume that when you say "players can input 3 energy" you mean something akin to other small, energy-powered mechanisms such as gates, Mecha Knights, and Turrets. That is, one person pays for the elevator to change for the whole party?
As much as I'd love to see this happen, I'm not sure if it's possible. I can't really explain it, but I bet someone who knows what I'm talking about can explain.
That is entirely correct.
I'm not sure why it'd be impossible, Sourix. Are Clockworks cycles global or something?
Admittedly, this comment may be unnecessary. However, I want to make it known that I have no idea what you're talking about.
As far as I can tell at the moment, there's nothing terribly wrong with this suggestion. I'm fairly sure that levels within the Clockworks are generated on a per-party basis, and all related elevators cycle specifically for each party as well. In other words, it would be perfectly acceptable for one party's elevators to cycle as a result of the suggested energy stimulus because it would not affect other parties in that gate.
But if the elevators cycle on a Global basis i.e. every x minutes the levels cycle for everyone... Well, I'm sure you can figure it out.
Yeah, I was talking about global cycles. Ghret explained what I was trying to say (but I failed at trying to explain it). I'm pretty sure the Clockworks runs on global cycles, but if the levels cycle individually for each party, then this is 100% possible.
Yes, gates cycle globaly at same time for everyone, but that doesnt necesarily mean an instanced elevator cant change it individually for the next level.
Only developers will be able to answer this.
If I had more time and more friends who still played, I'd test this myself, but it seems the sentiment is that elevators do cycle globally.
Either way, this appears to be the only thing questionable with this suggestion.
Can't you just get two people to wait in emberlight until the gate changes? Jeez, you don't need a dev.
Surely people know that it's possible to test things on their own granted that they have time and extra players. They just wanted to lure a dev into responding. Now you've both ruined it!
...That was the plan, right? Right?
Seems legit, however, it should be disabled on missions and boss stratums.
I can see people in the clockworks simply skipping certain levels to maximize payout, but, then again it costs energy, so I guess its fine.
Edit: WAIT DERP MOMENT. I looked at it 5 seconds after I posted and realized it was skipping CYCLES and not DEPTHS. So please disregard what I said earlier. Also I see potential in people trolling by skipping it away from good levels. Also what happens if you pay to skip, then it cycles on you right afterwards?
Missions are usually thematic enough that it doesn't matter too much what kind of floor cycles in. The exception is Prestige Missions (not Danger Missions), where different status effects can have a big impact on success. It also seems like no matter how long you wait in those, the levels never cycle (always Poison then Fire...), so I'm not sure what the deal is there.
Boss strata don't even have levels to cycle through, unless you're referring to the pre-dungeon floor (e.g. an arena before Ironclaw Munitions Factory).
EDIT: Simple enough, really. Assuming levels do cycle on a per-party basis, just have the timer reset if the party pays to cycle. If the levels cycle just before the party pays, that's just too bad. It equates to the situation where levels cycle just before the last party member steps on the elevator.
this doesnt seem like a bad idea as long as its not a global cycle system. i would love to pay some mist to skip waiting half an hour just to get an arena.
* also what about skipping depths, cant that be implememnted?
Yes, I'll just build up my Mist Energy for the day and skip straight from Depth 0 to the Core!
Think about that for just two seconds, then tell me, what about skipping depths, cant that be implememnted?
wow, u really have no imagination. u think so simple that u cant even think that there would be limitations inputed on skipping elevators. why cant u think a little more complex or do u have some limitations yourself?
and seriously to the core! what u gonna do there, talk to the npc's. wow!
100 mist wont even bring u to the core from 0 to 29, wow! u made a lot of sense there.
an example of skipping depth is having a rule that allows 1 skip or 1 level and of course u need the requirements like being the right star to be able to be allowed to skip. for example i see devilite level next and i don't want to wait for the next elevator, so i pay 20 energy to go to the next level after it. pretty simple.
Bloody hell... don't try to be witty if you don't know what you're talking about.
DAUNTLESS DELVER AND CRADLE AND ALL.
As well as recipe running, arena runs, mat runs, everyone's favorite fiends and CSK, etc.
how are u suppose to get dauntless delver if u don't do each of the 29 levels. did u read the requirements for the achievement. seriously. it says to not die even once from 0 to 29. not from 0 to 29 and skipping a level. i mean what are u talking about?
It's hard to take you seriously with your horrible English...
@OP Doesn't sound bad. Why not? +1
ty i didn't know i was in school to be judge for my English. do u think i care what u think about my English. speak all the thrash u want, cause i'm not listening.
"ty i didn't know i was in school to be judge for my English. do u think i care what u think about my English. speak all the thrash u want, cause i'm not listening."
Yes, you should care. Do you want people to take you seriously or not?
if u want to take me seriously then take me seriously, then ill take u seriously.
the minute u start to talk thrash to me, then ill treat u like thrash. its simple is it not?
* and your opinion doesn't count as a consensus. u think i have bad English so u don't take me seriously fine. the next guy thinks so too fine, until every last person says fine, why should i care.
"the minute u start to talk thrash to me, then ill treat u like thrash. its simple is it not?"
I'm not talking trash, I'm trying to help you. You look really, really stupid when you type like that.
"* and your opinion doesn't count as a consensus. u think i have bad English so u don't take me seriously fine. the next guy thinks so too fine, until every last person says fine, why should i care."
I'm pretty sure most everyone can't take you seriously when you speak like that.
You all need to understand what Zeddy is saying. He wants to skip a CYCLE, not a depth. This has nothing to do with Cradle and All or Dauntless Delver..
Basically, if there are 3 different depths you could go to, you can sink in 3 energy to switch the depth level instead of waiting for it to cycle to your desired depth.
but most is not ALL. and that is what matters to me.
this is not a professional workplace nor a company i work for nor anything that have specific writing format rules. so i can write ( not talk) however i want.
If you want to skip a depth, then it should cost 30 energy to skip the depth.
@spinception: yeah i already agreed with zeddy that its no problem up there on my post as long as its not a global cycle system. i suggested a different topic saying why cant we skip deoth, then malicious disagreed. then this stupid argument started, just a briefing for u.
Blandaxt has a history of doing stupid and obnoxious things regardless of how unprofessional this forum may be, earning them the position below wild fungus in my personal respect for others. I know Blandaxt has used alternates and made attempts to redeem themself from this behavior but has reverted to past necrophilia and garbage spewing following every occasion.
No one will respect you until that stops. Not the typing style, your behavior.
You have the ability to write however you want. Go ahead, present yourself as a 5yr old. Not only does it make it hard to take you seriously, but sometimes it's impossible to understand you. Which just makes getting your point across harder. But if 99.9% isn't enough for you, fine.
fr always giving a very thorough examination of me. just a question for you? where u friendly with me when i first started posting on the forum mr. luguiri? are u a friend of mine? do i know anything about u besides on how u like to look down on people? no
so tell me why should i care about opinion? huh. Mr. luguiri, tell me one reason why your opinion of my behavior means sooo much to me.
@serell: we finally can agree on something, so can this argument cease now cause i just feel i just wasted 30 minutes of my life talking to you about this.
You choose to continue being idiotic.
Not even going to think to give you another chance.
You are dead to me.
Good riddance.
like i was anything else to u. if i was anything else, maybe u would have been nicer.
It looks like I may have inadvertently started something that's gotten wildly out of hand, but I'll comment on the relevant matter. Not only would skipping levels allow for significantly easier achievements, it begins to simply defeat the purpose of the game in my opinion. Why bother playing through the Arcade (or even Missions) if you're just going to skip an entire depth?
Anyway, I've been able to run a test, and it does seem that levels cycle on a global scale. Although level themes are all the same globally, each level's exact layout is generated on a per-party basis.
Even if it would mean sinking energy.
Then again many energy sinks are to save time.
