Simple as that.

-Who will have most caps?
-Who will have most damage?
-Which team will win?
-Who got most defends?

Things like that.

There's always room for scams.

Player A bets team 2 will win. Player B is a friend of A, he'll go afk so his team loses and A wins the bet. Unless the bets are for less tahn 200cr, they can sahre the loot.

I think this is a wonderful

I think this is a wonderful idea. However, I have seen in the past that it's been a little controversial to have games with minors that includes an element of gambling. I am not sure if Three Rings will want such an element in their game. I believe it can affect the game's rating in a few countries, but I am unsure.

Sounds good

If video games have to deal with gambling charges, I don't think they shouldn't be allowed to have any probability-based mechanics. You gamble with punch, you gamble with lockboxes, and you gamble when you buy an item in a promo. You even gamble when you stand the same distance from vana when he hasn't been attacked. I can't see the logic in pressing charges against minor gambling of virtual currency, though I can imagine someone would want to.

I'm not talking about

I'm not talking about pressing charges, I'm just talking about the controversy in general. There's a difference between taking a chance like a UV and actually running bets. I'm just saying that it can have some ethical implications to have betting available for minors. Then again the last time I heard about the gambling controversy in kid's games was in Neopets. In some places it's still taboo so to include it in a game that has minors could be problematic for the company. I'm just saying that it could upset someone's parents. :b

AFK finder

Unless the person is actualy just running up and getting killed on purpose you could lose a percentage of your crown winnings if the person is afk or dies too much? keep from fixed games.

Depends on what the chips count for.

Would people be betting crowns, energy, materials, pride (not an actual item), or something else?

There could simply be an untradable accessory or a counter that tracks how many bets you win and lose. By having a high score you get some special accessories at high rate counts, untradable of course.

If the bets are taking something worth crowns (energy, materials, equipment, actual crowns) it could use the race horse betting system: all the money placed on bets is set on a table with the house, the house takes some of it, winners split the remainder. The total given to winners is less than was originally placed on the table but the house keeps some of it. Obviously the house would be an NPC/system to prevent the middle man scam.
