Changing The Names Of Ranks In A Guild

Heyas fellow knights, I was just wondering today about the guild ranks, you know recruit, member, veteran, officer and then GM when i though, "hey they are so simple but we should be able to change them."

It came to me after i made my new Guild (The Midnight Mafia) because in a Mafia you wouldn't call people those ranks. E.G. the GM(s) would be the Godfathers, the officers would be the Mob Bosses, The Veterans would be the Mobsters, the Members would be the Gangsters and the Recruits would be the Goons. That's just for my guild. For others it would be completely different. (well probably)

The way this would work is that ONLY the Creator of the guild could change the names. It would be on an extra panel when you click on "Guild Options" and the extra panel would be called Change Display Names. If the creaotr of the guild left, the control of the names would be dictated by the first person the creator made GM, and so on. (or whatever you have re-named it).

Hope you like this idea, Aced-acer. {Creator of The Midnight Mafia} (Sorry if this idea has already been considered!)

Why only the creator?

Why not whoever was at the top of the chain of command at the time? OOO has indicated that they'll add more functionality to guilds, I'd be very surprised if this hadn't already been implemented.

@Addisond

If its not only the creator one minute the GM's could be called Rainbow ponies and another they could be called Jack of all trade etc...

And if you read completely it says if the creator left, the next in line, the next main GM would become control over the functon

Also, i forgot to say sorry if this idea was already considered.

Well

Will there be a rule where you cannot put anything inappropriate in the names?

As of now, it doesnt matter. Unless they put a giant sign with your rank on your head.

Yea, point taken...

Yea, point taken Benightz, I guess there wouldn't be anything inappropriate it it, so it would have the same chat filter as the players speaking itself. Also, with Little-Jaunces at the moment, it wouldnt matter but point taken from the both of you.

Why can't the names be approved by spiral knights?

Or if you put something censored, it won't change. Only appropriate names are allowed

Subjecting the new names to the chat filter would probably be best. Would save OOO getting spammed up with thousands of pointless and useless name changes and deciding whether to accept or decline them.

If the chat filter doesn't like it: "This word is inappropriate. No changes have been made"?

gr8 idea!

i would like to see this implemented

Addisond's picture

...why not?

The ranks should just be subjected to the chat filter for those who HAVE the chat filter on, there's not reason to prevent people from naming themselves obscene things.

Approveee.

Not a bad idea actually. Even if it is just for people in the guild, it allows for a bit more immersion in the game for the guildies. Like the mafia/gangster thing you guys are rolling would seem at least one notch more complete with a feature like this. Just gotta figure out a way to remember what's what (so the GM doesn't start forgetting which rank is which and ends up giving officer to those who should be recruits or members, haha).

Maybe the GM could open up a box for guild edits and a list like this would be there. Like so:

Guild Master: ________
Officers: _________
Veterans: ________
Members: _________
Recruits: __________

great idea

the way i see it it's a bit the same as the wow-ranking system where the GM's could add several ranks and give more or less priveledges to certain ranks.
i would love to see this in the game and thus i say thumbs up :)
