Hi!

Just like Mistreil, I'm opening up an art thread where I'll be dumping pictures and whatnot. We started Spiral Knights together about three days ago and I find it to be very enjoyable so far, so why not draw some stuff from it? Anyway, I stink at drawing actual mechs and such, so I'll be drawing characters as.. humans / humanoid things.

I'm hoping to improve by forcing myself to draw this complex armour stuff, since I don't have much experience drawing armour and weapons.

Here's a quick sketch I whipped up of my character: [x]

A bit of advice

Kozma is actually pure evil D:

Other than that, nice art! As for pricing it really depends on you
some people do it for 150 ce, some as much as 4k ce, some even do it for free

Thanks for the input! That's a really big range, haha.
I wouldn't mind doing free sketches, really. Maybe I could do free sketches in the same style as the above samples and then charge for coloured pictures?

Collab art shop would work I am sure! Tev and Td would both commission you for sure! And Tev could probably help you with pricing if you hit her up in game -volunteers Tev without asking-.

I always want to commission but never have enough money xD So I am a free sketch gatherer... But you guys could both add me in-game! Maybe I could help with some extra 2 star gear.

What I've posted definitely wouldn't be what I'd be selling. Those are really quick sketches that aren't worth much at all and I'll probably be doing free sketches.

By "buying" / "selling", Mistreil and I mean we will be selling pictures that are completely lined and in colour -- things that take a lot more time and effort.

Here's an example of what it would look like: [x]
(I drew this a while ago, so it's kind of outdated. I'll probably make a new sample if I decide to open up the art shop so people have a better idea of what to expect.)

Prices would vary depending on whether you want a picture that goes from the waist-up, or full-bodied. The example above is of waist-up and would be cheaper than full-bodied. :)

Also, don't worry, you aren't mean at all! It's probably just unclear, and I'm happy to explain things to people.

Since both of you seem to hang out in this thread ...

If I were you, I'd charge between 1200 and 3k CE for your color work, depending on how long they take you and how comfortable you are charging for whatever. That would be comparable to what others are charging for pieces on a similar skill level. You might also want to have separate "add on" prices for additional characters or backgrounds, since most people tend to do it that way.

Sol (my husband) apparently has CE on his account and has volunteered it for my commission whenever you've decided what you'd like to charge (although I'd prefer to wait until after the weekend anyway. XD)

Just as a placeholder, I'm going to put my commission request up and you can price it accordingly. XD

If you could draw one of my knights with one of Sol's, with Sol's knight giving/offering mine a flower, that would be great. We have lots of costumes, so pick the ones you feel most comfortable drawing from these.

I can pay with CE, crowns, or items, whichever you prefer. Feel free to add me in-game if you want to talk about the commission or even just chat about whatever. ^.^

Just as a test for drawing hooded characters. I bet that you CAN do a hooded character (seeing how you managed helmed characters easily). Remember, you don't have to draw this, but this serves only as a test for your drawing skills.

w00!

I'm back and have a computer again! Starting on Sir-Wuddle's sketch and then I'll try out Vinnydime's. To be honest, I'm not actually that good with helmets nor hoods, but I'd gladly draw what you've given me for the sake of practice.

I'm thinking of opening the art shop later tonight at the earliest and finishing as much as I can before Monday, since I have to start preparing for an exam on Wednesday. After Wednesday, I'll have tons of free time, yay!

Will work on the details after I finish these two sketches. :>

I did these sketches using an actual pen tool instead of the crayon tool so you have a better idea of what my pictures actually look like. I just thought the crayon tool was cute, haha.

Consider sketch requests closed for now while I finalize shop details with Mistreil; sketch requests will probably be up then.

It's just my art style and something I have to work on. I draw a lot of females and don't usually draw males, so my males tend to look more.. feminine..
