new bomber
I need some help with my 2* bomber's gear. I am upgrading to get a valiance a DA and a polaris( maybe a archeron to) as my sidearms. Though i would like some help shorting that down to only a sword and a gun. I am also not sure what bombs to use Right now im working towards a shiver a 5* dark matter bomb a nitro and maybe an Ash of agni. If there are any pro bombers out there that could give me some help it would be apreciated. I ussaly play with 2 slots can upgrade to 3 if needed, i am currently have a demo set and not clear what 5* version i will get. Thankyou in advance.

We have a handy Bombing Guide that's getting a bit bloated over the ages. Luguiru mostly has you covered, though.
If you're thinking about a blast bomb line, I have a topic on that. Give Irontech some serious thought! It's basically some fuse time and walking speed traded in for some damage.
I would highly recommend Shocking Salt Bomb over Deadly Dark Matter Bomb, for the same reasons Luguiru stated. Do not craft a single shard bomb as your only damage bomb, though! It's a complementary weapon.
If you can't decide between the safety of Volcanic and the power of Mad Bomber, a valid option is to go with one piece of each. You'll still get that max CTR (essential), while still getting a little damage boost. From there, two boom modules will still net you max damage.
For sidearms, consider getting just Valiance and Pepperbox. Pepperbox mostly for damage against bosses.
@Luguiru
Your help was greatly apreciated but the only reason i got the dark matter was for the shadow damage part of it. Im still not sure on the guns. valience can deal nice nock back is fast and does nice damage to all monsters, but polaris has better nockback and better for FCS wich i will have to grind to get five*. For bombs im thinking of getting ash for dps a shiver for crowd controll but not sure about other bombs. The only reason im looking at a sealed sword line is because of a very helpful thread between 3 bombers(and bop) talking about the best sword side arm for a bomber. I have also recently gotten the piercing bomb for the tokens. I think for starters i will work towards a volocanic set.
@Zeddy thankyou very much for the links aspecially the blast bomb.

For Valliance vs Polaris, you may want to consider that Polaris knockback doesn't have a fixed angle, which results in unpredictable knockback. Generally, that means unless you really aim well, it can be harmful to your party. On the other hand, it's great at shutting down turrets.
On the other hand, Valliance doesn't have any real weak point, it's just not outstanding in any situation.
As for bombs, Ash of Agni is great. I personally love pairing it with Voltaic Tempest for maximum status dps. The Snarby bomb is great as well, and makes for a great blast bomb replacement in parties.
As for Sealed Sword, it mainly depends if you want a sword or gun side-arm. Doing a DA would have the other advantage of having a great sword for FSC.

Valiance doesn't have any good point either.
If you MUST use only two weapons, consider either choosing a gun type that complements your bomb (dark briar barrage and shadow driver, for example) or else a good sword that can keep enemies at bay (glacius, sudaruska). Even though guns are generally preferred for turrets, you can often get behind them while they're shooting and clobber them before they hit you. Fast sword combos (again, like glacius) will interrupt their shots too.

Don't worry about shadow damage right now. The shard bombs are not all that great, so it's not a good place to start. When you are a bit more experienced, you can look into them. You need shadow for jelly and gremlin. Well then take a shadow sword as a side. Or, use nitro on jelly's which tends to kill them fine, actually Ash of Agni plus Voltaic Tempest tends to do them in quite fine as well. And for gremlins, I find that Dark Briar Barrage works really really well, and shards are suicidal. With the knockback randomness of shards, plus the way gremlins slide around and block anything to their back, and their very rapid attacks, shards are a good way to end up dead fast. DBB knocks them down, and lets you deal with them while they're totally useless. Spam that baby and impress all your friends.
Yes, you also lose out on an energy bomb. But pick up electron vortex, and that's fine. As a starting bomb, don't try to solo bomb fiends, and don't worry if you aren't the fastest killer on the team. Nitro, DBB, Electron Vortex, Ash of Agni, Voltaic Tempest, and Shiver. Those are my recommendations.
I find it very hard to be a versatile bomber with only two weapons. Take a sword, and a status bomb. When you can afford weapon slots, life will be much better. Also bombing doesn't get really really fun until you hit 5*, in my opnion.

"Also bombing doesn't get really really fun until you hit 5*"
Cold Snap and Firecracker are viable bombing options even in T2! Since you get them with CTR med UVs from missions, you get to enjoy the taste of Max CTR way ahead of time.
For sidearms choose between Valiance and either Pulsar to start for guns. A sword sidearm depends on how you use swords. When I was shifting from swords to bombs my main sword was GFaust and I obsessively used its basic combo. Not by spamming the basic swings around, I learned how to time it and everything. Nets a lot of knockback and if its second swing curses the group of enemies you hit you can bomb to deal damage while they hurt themselves. I heard you like dealing damage to multiple enemies so we took a status that deals damage when the enemy attacks and let you choose to use other weapons that inflict statuses and/or deal raw damage at the same time. With gun sidearms it depends on whether you want knockback from close or far range since both can get turrets. If you try to face T2 and T3 turrets without enough experience in evasion Pulsars are easier but eventually you get to the point where you can use Vaporizers to fight turrets and not give a shi-
For your bombs it also comes down to preference and filling desired roles. Agni and Nitronome both fill neutral damage but both have a disadvantage: Nitronome has an obnoxious animation which can annoy allies and Agni is useless against fire resistant enemies. If you absolutely have to get a shard bomb I recommend going for one of the two original lines, Scintillating Sun or Shocking Salt. Both have a decent rate to inflict a status (stun and shock, respectively) and a big family bonus. The only downside compared to their statusless and family-bonus-less branches is a tiny sliver of damage. The element shard bomb is useful if you need to deal that damage type but that will not always be the case. Definitely get the Snarbolax bomb for pierce damage. Other than that what you get is up to you. Vaporizers help your team by inflicting statuses to a wide area, Graviton/Electron have a suction effect which pulls enemies in so your allies can beat the liquids out of them, Blast lines can either be obnoxious or helpful in knockback depending on the situation, and the Seerus bombs only available through the expansion are pretty gudd for shadow damage.
If you want something simple and practical for early bombing aim for Volcanic. It has fire resistance and gives +2 bomb charge per part at 5*. If you plan on stuffing a bunch of charge UVs in your pants for your bombs you can get Bombastic for +2 bomb damage and freeze resistance instead but as a new bomber you probably lack the green to be call Punch mean. If you know what I mean. Mad Bomber is more for bombers who can handle the status weaknesses but receive +2 bomb charge and +2 bomb damage per part. The normal defense on it is lower than the other three lines but you get double the bomb bonuses. The explosiveness has been doubled. Lastly we have Mercurial Demo which is only craftable at the end of the Shadow Lair. It gives +1 movement speed and +1 bomb damage per part, meaning it sits in the same boat as Bombastic: you have to get bomb charge somewhere else. If you can afford trinkets they exist for all weapons. You can get H10 on your bombs for +2 charge then get the remaining +4 by crafting two of these but you have to pay the constant trinket slot fee (150E a month to buy each upgrade yourself, ~6kCr to buy from other players). If you want something inexpensive and simple go for Volcanic but otherwise there are other options out there. Somewhere. Over the rainbow.
If you want basic equipment tutorials check here and read aboot stuff. Also check this place for even more stuff.
Acheron and the other Brandishes are not sidearm swords. They are primary offense weapons. A sidearm is something you switch to occasionally for a few seconds at a time to make the battle more comfortable for you. Like a pillow. I wish I could use a pillow as a sidearm. Smother enemies with it. Its softness is deadly.
