Faust is superior I feel
Faust is superior I feel because of the ability to curse and the speed of it. The most annoying enemies in the game as well (gremlins, who can resurrect fallen foes) are weak to shadow.

They're both fairly easy to get once you whet your tongue with what T2 has to offer. Unless you bought your way into T3, you'll be overflowing with Jelly tokens; more than enough to get two Sealed Swords, an Antigua and then some.
The Faust is a little faster and can Curse on every attack, even basic ones. However, its charge attack isn't as amazing and has a drawback attached.
The Avenger is better in Citadel runs and it has a fancier charge attack, but no status effect.
They're otherwise identical. Don't sweat the small stuff, eh?

The easy way is to buy a butt
The easy way is to buy a butt load of CE and spam the trade channels for a gran faust and divine avenger for CE. Otherwise you're going to be farming Jelly King for a long while (which honestly isn't that hard, just tedious) to get the gems necessary to buy the sealed swords, then buying the recipes. Recipes included, each sword is 60k plus materials and 300-500 CE.

The Gran Faust can only curse you if you use the charge, however it will still curse enemies with its normal combo.
I think their both good, and as the game will have new content coming out it's too early to say which one is better than the other. Currently, the DA is more general purpose in terms of the monsters you'll find (as well as slightly cheaper on the market), while the Gran Faust looks cooler but has a smaller variety of monsters weak to it.

Stat check before choosing
Im using Divine avenger right now,however if your wanting more damage overall I would go with gran faust.However If your going for the Helm and Armor of the fallen(Like I am),its best to stay away from Gran faust and go with Divine Avenger.
Divine Avenger and Gran Faust all have their benfits and disadvantages.Charge wise the DA gets 3 swords in different directions which can push multiple groups away where Gran Faust's charge fires a large blade,which we can guess does more damage To anything in it's range.DA charged swords however are not the best for single target,likewaise Gran faust's charged Sword wont help you on multiple targets.
Both strike the same.GF Is definatly better for damage other than citadel where DA is more of a mitigation (survival) weapon and It generally great against Citadel

If you want a weapon with shadow to go with an Avenger I sugest getting Blackhawk/Senentza form of Antigua.I hear Acheron(Nightblade from the Brand series) is not a bad weapon either for shadow/Normal damage.Likewise with GF I would go with Silversix/Argent Peacemaker.AP isnt the best other than Citadel,Graveyards,and Constructs,etc,and ST the oppisite of that
Between Gran Faust and Acheron Its all dependent on playstyle.If you enjoy heaving a Large sword and doing massive amounts of damage per strike I would go with Gran Faust,If you like hitting alittle faster (much like the proto sword with a 3 hit combo) and/or like the realm of shadow assassins:go Acheron
Getting the right gear combos is what get people to play this game for hours everyday.Like I will have to change out of The fallen Set for citadel because everything there gives you curse damage which the gear is weak to.Ill end up having to make a valkrye set aswell.

Get both because they both have their uses.
If you want to get Sealed Sword fast, I suggest that you craft a Nightblade which deals shadow and should make your journey in RJP easier. But if you already got a Sealed Sword (and did not have a Nightblade), craft it into a Faust to help you in RJP to get another Sealed Sword. If you already got a Nightblade, craft the Sealed Sword into a Avenger first as a Faust will be pretty pointless.

Directed at Pawsmack-
And you didn't even give him very good advice... DA and GF are two tottaly different weapons. If your style of play is all heavy swords, then you'll want to get them as a set... there are very very few situations where one would even have to decided between the two. Shadow IS an endgame priority, as it is needed for C42, Ice queen and other T3 levels. I hate to break it to you, but FSC is not the end of the game any more.
Get both :D Each is useful for particular monster types.
I started with a DA because I needed something better for graveyards (undead) and gun puppies (constructs).
I have a faust now too, which will be a GF someday... Quite useful for any slime strata including the RJP. I also like to use it on T3 Gremlins for the knockback, but there might be better weapons for them.
