Time and again we've seen these threads, so during a platonic debate between a guldie and myself, I stumbled upon this idea that will make (almost) everyone happy.

Have a Homecoming Anniversary.

During which, the same things from the original Homecoming still apply, except three things.

1) Users with any one of the Honour Gear sets will not receive another.
2) There will be an 'Honour Alchemy Machine' for users to upgrade (By means of Crafting. Yes, you'll have to work at getting them up those levels) their existing Honour Gear sets in Haven for the Duration of this Event.
3) OOO can throw in whatever reskinned toys they want.

Cons of this idea:
There's the whole 'Then they're not special anymore' idea, which I respect, and agree with. However, if there's going to be an idea for getting the upgrades, I feel that this would be the most practical way to do it.

I would also like to take the time to note that while I personally would like to see the Honour Gear upgradeable for means of getting that Lionheart Blade, which I like for it's functionality and appearance (Considering it's just a better-looking Levi, which I also like as a weapon), I find OOO by no means obligated to do this.

So while you ask for something like this, keep in mind that the Honour gear was originally a gift. Whether or not it's useful to you, or that you've 'outgrown it'; whatever the case, and whatever the eventuality, the fact remains that it was a gift; a free set of gear you did not need to receive.

As such, keep request for this respectful, and considerate. No-one, and I mean no-one is entitled to getting the higher up versions of these pieces.

So even if we never get to upgrade these things to their betters, shut up and be grateful; You did not need to receive it, you did not need to give anything but your time in return. You probably didn't even do anything to deserve it either, besides play the game. Yet, you got it anyway.

It was a gift, so treat it as such.

Actually I was about to put my stand against the idea.......then I read it.
Anyways, if the things are not that you will be given a recipe......why not?
But then again, they are really supposed to be for remembering what rank you were at that time which would be another con :(
Anyways, just a compliment. I really admire your maturity and social awareness, but just a suggestion. I don't mean to be mean but, maybe you can take your rage down a notch, you don't really have to listen to this sentence XD.

Well have of your post Psycho

Well have of your post Psycho is about being grateful to OOO which is good and i like the Homecoming Alchemy Machine as we would finally be able to upgrade our Ascended Honour Blades and Mighty Honour Shiele(I think thats the name).
And on a side note you guys might find it funny that there might be more people with 5* Honour gear then those who have 4* Honour gear.

I know it's a gift, but I feel cheated there's no current way of upgrading it. I am a Vang and received the champion set at the time I was at the one-before-last HoH. I however still like these, especially the blade. Even tough the damage difference is only by a bunch of 10s, I would love to upgrade it. Not for max power, but for.. well... showoffs.

And the honour stands, are ya gonna do something about them too?

Battle Stands*. And, considering that most people give theirs away to their Guild anyway, I guess they could just toss in more. After all, there'll be more player and more Guilds by then.

I understand that feel Papaya. But this suggestion isn't about being fair; it's about giving other people a chance to get the set they didn't manage to.

In fact, it'd be more fair for them not to do anything; we missed our shot. No reason we should get another.

why an event?

I like my "you can craft honor gear from the equivalent cobalt/calibur/defender recipies" idea better. What's the point of making it a week- or weekend-long event? If we're all going to get 5* versions of it then, why not do it whenever you want?

It was the result of a special event, so it stands to reason that any continuation would be in a special event also. Not to mention that it still hold some 'special value' at that point; you'd have to be on at that time too.

I get the point of having the event be only a limited-time thing on the original date- to prevent retired/inactive knights from receiving free stuff. But if we were there the first time, and have been playing since, there's no reason to limit us to an arbitrary event timeline so we can get better versions of our stuff. Any "special value" from that event would only be that you didn't happen to have anything going on that weekend. If you got the first set and missed the second event, that's just an inconvienience on your part and shouldn't effect whether or not you get to upgrade your "free gift". You should be able to get it whenever you want.

There is no 'should' about this. If anything, it 'should' be only available on that day. The same argument could then apply for all the Winterfest, Halloween and Spiral Knights Anniversary things; you just happened to be there at the time, so you got them. Missed any, you missed it. There's no 'should have gotten anyway' thing about any of them.

The whole point is that you're there at that time. It's meaningless otherwise. If not, they may have just as well have just given a set to everyone for every-single day after, Auto-upgrading every time you rank up to the appropriate level.

Why get gifts on your birthday? You're going to get it anyway, may as well just get gifted it three months before it.

Not really. It's more being generous than fair. Being fair would be leaving it as it is. That's the most fair way; we missed it, no-one gets a second shot.

This is just being nicer than they need to be.

The whole point is that you're there the first time. After that, you have the main idea of the gear already; your only reason to want better gear is to make it more functional. You already have the "prestigious" part by getting whatever gear in the first place. The only thing that remains is a reason to pull the stuff out aside from just showing it off- a reason to use it. Maybe we could compromise- have an event where you could get the special Honor Gear recipes. That way you still have to be there, but past that point you can level them up at your leisure.

Which is why I said that OOO is not obliged to do this. What would be the point in getting recipes you're never going to need again? What would be the sense in using the recipe for another weapon as a 'base'?

If the point was that you had to be there at that time, then the whole point of this is that you're there at that time.

No, the point of this is that you were there at that time, but you want a chance to upgrade your stuff. Getting recipes instead of straight upgrades is so that you can have a chance to upgrade at your own pace, if you're not 5* by this new time. So we don't have to go through this every year.

I don't know about you, but I'm not 5* yet. There's no reason for me to use a recipe more than once anyway, and there's really no reason for anyone who even is 5*. Apart from UV grinding.

That's only if you do it separate from the event in a normal patch. If you're going to have a big event about it, might as well make them new recipes. They would be functionally identical, of course, and they would start from 3* (so you can't craft new ones)

OOO isn't obliged to do this, but if they decide to do it we're suggesting ways for them to do it that would be best for the game and community, and make the most people happy. That's the point of this forum.

No one will use theirs like Levis considering the fact that there are other weapons that are better.

It just clutters space.

...That's what I just said.

You really aren't getting it, so I'm just going to stop here. You appear to be under the assumption that the Honour Gear should be treated like every other piece of gear.

They're not the same. You had to be somewhere to get it in the first place, so why should that change for future occurrences? The event gives OOO a chance to do other stuff they feel like doing, be it an energy promo or whatever. What would be the point of having a special event for anything if the most community-friendly way would be to let us get it at our own paces?

I could get a Levi and an Aegis whenever I want (once I'm 5*). And I have my 3* honor set, which looks cool. What all of us - the ones who didn't get 5* honor gear- want from this is the ability to combine functionality and prestige. I want a sword that looks cool that I can actually use.

And we didn't bash you, we told you why the thing you are asking for, won't happen. But seems you deserve that sentence I said, because you ignored the context, and only memorized that sentence. And you didn't even answer our questions. I will do it again :

1. The weak point in your suggestion is that you only asked for the Sword, while ignoring the Battle Stand and Shield. Which means that they reason behind asking, is for own benefit, and that you want a free weapon.

2. We told you that is celebratory, and not everyone will get it, yet you ignored that too.

3. Want me to go on ?

And I am not a forum-vet. I just use facts and logic, but that doesn't mean I don't make mistakes, we all do, but the difference is : Who learns, and who go on with his/her stupidity .

Hmm...

Sounds good to have an alchemy machine to do this but to have it for a limited time beats the point of having it. Why not just have it permanently in HoH or have an NPC trade you for it?

Also I suggest everyone to mod their resorse files and get it over with.

Honestly, it was meant to be a limited time item. That, and it's just a reskinned Levi. If you want a functional sword, then don't even bother with it. There are plenty of cool looking swords that are actually functional. Triglav, FoV, DVS, etc. Don't tell me they're not functional. They all have a specific niche that they're great for. Levi has what? Its charge is outperformed by the FoV and its normal swings are outperformed by all of the brandishes. It's useless. The only reason to have it is for novelty. I use it only as a costume piece because it looks nice.

I would be willing to +1 this if there was some reward to those of us who ALREADY have the 5* versions, instead of just rewarding the ones without it.
