OOC: Thin, one does not simply goes into the sanctuary without a shadow key.
The Fangs Roleplay [FIN.]
((The above post is a later scene. This is how we got there.))
Legend spoke of four Snarbolaxes. The first lay in Gloaming Wildwoods. Two had gone rabid in the Shadow Lairs. These three were all corrupted to some degree by the Swarm. But the fourth was thought to be uncorrupted, and as intelligent as any Isoran. The first three never ventured far from their lairs, so the one that scared his friends had to be the fourth one. Jak's curiosity peaked, and left Theo and Vin to find the beast. According to the ancient tome, this one took up residence in the fabled Sanctuary. That would require a trip through the Shadow Lairs, necessitating a shadow key. Jak darted back to his lab, withdrew a little energy from his 5000-unit crafting tank, bought a key from a stranger (who wished him good luck), and took the elevator to Emberlight.
He checked that his recon cloak was working before he took the next elevator.
((OOC: that's correct, Fleet. ;) I made that scene mainly to burst Seatus's bubble. :P))
Wonderful...I hear more noise...while this probably won't end badly, I climb out of the fountain, ready for the intruder. Usually no one bothers me in Sanctuary, seeing as they seldom survive the Swarm. I look into the waters once out, and who should I see but the bomber I showed myself to. This is exactly the effect I had hoped for. I send a thorn flying into the water, aiming a little to the right and lodging it into the floor ahead of the Knight, hoping this sparks more curiosity...
OOC: @Vinnydime Well...how exactly to change my writing....?
THWACK!!
A thorn landed squarely at Jak's feet. He looked up to see where it came from, but saw only the dome. Wait a sec...no, there was something else up there. Was that...water!? He drew his blaster and fired a shot into it, just to see what would happen. Then, it promptly vanished, as if it had cloaked. It had to be some kind of teleportation method; there was no other way to explain what had happened. If he was going to hunt this Snarbolax, he would have to keep his eye on the roof.
After beating his way through some ill-tempered slimes and lazy constructs, he reach depth 23. Now he had to choose a Shadow Lair to enter, but which one? He thought for a minute, and decided that the Gloaming Wildwoods Shadow Lair was his best bet. After all, he would need all the practice he could get before hunting the fourth Snarbolax. Could he solo it? No, but he wouldn't have to - he would remain cloaked and sneak through.
He turned the key and entered. There was no turning back now as the darkness encompassed him.
((OOC: I propose that Seatus be unable to use the portal to observe Jak while he is in the Shadow Lairs, for two reasons: 1) The living darkness prevents vision through the portal. 2) Jak needs to be able to surprise Seatus a little bit.))
OOC: How do i exactly change my writing? It's already too late to be changed.
BIC:
A knight named James asked Dogish, "Isn't that you're the ones that i give you an offer? I know you need a shadow key to go to the shadow lair! Now if you ask me, my name is James. What's your name?"
Dogish quickly replied to James, "Oh sorry i forgot to tell my name! My name is Dogish, it's a very bad name right?" James quickly forgive Dogish's mistake.
James and goes to the emberlight. While in emberlight, they drank a beer before descending to the clockwors. After that, they decided to quickly rushed into the elevator.
After furiously killing innocent monsters by throwing bombs and shooting polaris everywhere, they finally reached depth 23. They must pick of shadow lair but since they have not completed the T1 shadow lair, they decided to go to the T1 shadow lair.
Promptly after I shoot the thorn, a bullet flies at me. I catch it in my teeth, which scorches the tip of my muzzle. I shake off the small bit of pain this brings me...I look back to see the water is empty.
"What....happened?" I blink my eyes, hoping I am not seeing things. "But how-?" No matter. I wave my hands, hoping to see the other Knight I showed myself to....
((OOC: I will just assume the last attempts have failed....))
Clarification: Edit the post :P
Sorry I was so obscure.
Jak had just finished demolishing a Howlitzer when he heard the elevator come down again. He looked back and saw...a gremlin demo and a Proto knight?? They wouldn't survive for a minute in this Shadow Lair! Jak realized that things were about to become more difficult, since he felt obliged to protect the newcomers. Just then, a rabid Snarbolax charged at them.
"GET DOWN!!"
I could sense something...familiar. My own self stirring elsewhere. I closed my eyes, concentrating on that small pinpoint in darkness...
Them. My brothers. It seems as though something has awakened their hunger. I concentrate harder, and feel them attack. Oh well, good thing they are revivable...I send a thorn flyinf blindly into the water, only hoping this can help...
A Snarbolax lept over the group and burrowed, missing the group by mere centimeters. Jak thought he saw Dogish curse, but couldn't be sure. He ducked and rolled under another Howlizer, leaving a bomb on its chin and subsequently shooting the creature. Suffice it to say that there was no flying head. Suddenly, a stabbing pain hit him in the neck. He staggered and touched it, finding blood on his glove. All went dark as the sounds of deconstructors and Proto blasts lulled him to sleep.
I curse silently as I see Jak fall in front of one of my brother's eyes, my thorn accidentally having lodged into his neck. I desperately hold back my brother with sheer willpower, only hoping that this will open the necessary window of time to revive Jak before the Swarm takes control of my brother again...I can only pray the other brother will be kept busy...
OOC: Oh sorry i forgot to tell you that James wears sunset set and grey feather owlite shield and use Polaris (should have been called trollaris).
Dogish saws Jak fallen into the ground, but he doesn't care about it and just throws deconstucters everywhere. He ducked into under a zombie and drop his bombs to the zombie head.
James quickly shoot his Polaris everywhere, pushing monsters to death. However, he stopped shooting his Polaris when he saw a knight fell. He quickly tries to revive Jak.
Her silver hair shone with a radiance matching her glowing white delicate eyes. She seemed to be dressed in frosty raiment, but no color darker than white could be seen on it. She looked Isoran, but there were no white Isorans. Who was she?
"Greetings, weary warrior. No, you are not dead. You are here with me in my prison."
Jak sat up, rubbed his eyes, and looked around. The soft grass was greener than any he'd ever seen in the Clockworks, maybe even on Isora. The whitespace sky was bright and comforting, and quite outside of his usual experience. He glanced at the lady, but couldn't bear to look at her for long.
She beckoned him to come closer, and created a strange white ball of pure energy in her hands. Tenderly, she applied it to his neck and forehead.
"You are cured, young pilot. Now, I brought you here for two reasons. First..." she chuckled slightly, "I wanted to impress someone." They both laughed a little at that. "Second, I wanted to help you with your research. I am as interested in the curse of Vog as much as you are. I have contained Vog here in the Core abyss, but I am afraid that his influence may be enough to free him someday. I am torn between two minds; if the Core is opened, I will be freed from this prison, but so will Vog, and the Swarm will gain entry. If it is not opened, I will remain imprisoned for the duration of my existence, and will be trapped here with Vog, which will not bode well for me."
Jak thought for a bit. "I think I can help you. There seems to be a Snarbolax somewhere nearby; if he can be recruited-"
"-then maybe he can contain Vog," the lady concluded. "I see what you mean. He is already on my side, but presently ill-equipped to contend with Vog. I may be able to grant him some power, but not so long as he remains holed-up in my Sanctuary. If he can be persuaded to leave it, I may be able to bring him here."
Jak was puzzled. "Why can't you...you know...do stuff in the Sanctuary?"
She looked down at her feet. "There are people there." She then looked him in the eyes. "You need to go now; your friends need you."
Jak awoke to the sounds of Polaris explosions.
((OOC: No comment on the lady...for the safety of my fanfic...))
((OOC: did I go too far in assuming Seatus was on the Core's side, or that he was underpowered relative to Vog?))
Me underpwoered to Vog? PuhLEASE XD! We of the Wolver Collective are all pretty equally powered (except maybe my brothers and Vanaduke the exception) but the lady is a KEY in my fanfic. I will give you a hint, her name starts the "A"
((OOC: I haven't read your fanfic, so I wasn't aware you'd made the lady, too. I don't think Vog is a Wolver of any kind, however.
Now, if Vanaduke is roughly equal to a Snarbolax, and if Vog granted Vanaduke his power, how powerful must Vog be relative to the Snarbolax? Just food for thought.
Fleet-Miss-Gun isn't posting, so I'll take up the slack.))
"Dude, wake up!" James shook Jak after donating half of his health to him.
"I'm awake, James."
"What happened to you, man?"
"I fainted and dreamed, I guess."
"Where's your stutter?"
"I seem to have lost it along the way."
"Awesome, but the area still isn't safe. I'm still seeing random thorns falling from the sky."
"And...rabid snarbies?"
"No sign of 'em."
They both looked around. Dogish was still waiting for his author to tell him what to do, so they decided to leave him alone for now. "Got a recon cloak," asked Jak? "Nope, 'fraid not," said James. Jak sighed. "Then I have to go alone. Hold the fort until I return, okay?" James nodded, and attended to his comrade. Jak activated the cloak and began his perilous trek through the Gloaming Wildwoods.
(( OOC: Normally i will ragequit when i saw someone power play and break the the 4th wall but i don't rage because i like to break the 4th wall.))
((OOC: I hope my usage of James is not a serious offense. I'll try to avoid that in the future. I just want to recycle characters already in the story.))
The elevator was still functioning, but it was making an odd grinding sound as it moved down. Hopefully, it would still be working when he returned to the surface. It landed with a deafening squeal. Jak stepped out and observed his surroundings. All was black, and he had trouble seeing very far in front of him. His minimap wasn't working, and his weapons glowed with unusual strength. He stepped onto the button, and all the powers of darkness broke loose. He threw a bomb into a pack, turning the ghostly black figures into odd pixelated vapors. A crimson bullet hit him, and he stumbled back into the cold embrace of a void zombie. He wrestled free, only to get hit on the head by a void gremlin thwacker. He whipped around, plugged a shot into its head, and blasted the guts out of the zombie. Swarm seed began to crawl up his legs, slowing him down and causing him to panic. He tried cloaking, but it was no use - the swarm could still see him. The gate was up ahead, but it was locked, and the void abominations closed in on him. The gate suddenly opened, but revealed only another gate. He had to survive until the last gate dropped.
After fighting for several long minutes, he realized time was running out. His health was diminishing, his legs had become infested, his armor was cracked, and his blaster jammed. Three of the four gates were down. A void gel shot a thorn in his side, immediately infesting it and breaking the armor there. He barely avoided a lumber smash. The last gate went down, but before he could reach it, a void zombie swiped him across his back. He fell, and the swarm began to creep up his face as the void monstrosities closed in on him.
A golden phantasmic eagle pushed everything away, and a ray of light hit him in the face, causing the swarm to back off of him. A tender hand was offered to him, which he took and used to pull himself up. Together, they raced to the elevator and slammed the button.
As they traveled down the elevator, Jak tried to get a good look at the knight who had saved him. He (or she?) was dressed in full Valkyrie armor, and wielded a Gray Owlite Shield, Argent Peacemaker, and Final Flourish. The visor covered the knight's face, but from what Jak could tell, the personal color was white. The knight didn't speak at all on the trip down.
The elevator set down, and they both stepped into the Sanctuary. The knight pointed, and Jak looked to see what the target was. In the distance, he could see a curious black object. Jak activated his recon cloak, and the other knight began to sneak up on the creature using the vegetation as cover. Slowly, they both approached it, and the identity of the creature quickly became obvious.
The white knight placed a hand on its flourish. Jak decloaked and armed a blast bomb.
"Hello, Snarby."
He hoped that the creature wasn't violent.
I turn, looking at the Knight. I smile, and laugh. "Finally," I say, "You're here! I had to WAIT long enough. Now we must wait for Vin..."
Vin strode out of the training hall with all the other inhabitants, and walked towards the Arcade. Iron King Gate, said a screen. The majority of the stratums were beast and undead, minus the Gloaming Wildwoods and Firestorm Citadel. The Knight tapped a couple of buttons, and rode the elevator down to Emberlight.
The Knight kept his head down, averting any eye contact with the starving Gremlins. That didn't prevent him from looking into the eyes of an orphan, however. Sighing, he dropped a few hundred crowns into the minute paws, and quickened his pace to the elevator. The town of Emberlight was his least favorite rest stop. It was a town steeped in poverty, where crime and famine was normal. Although the settlement was supposed to lead a strong and hopeful light for those who were exiled from the Great Colony, it had fallen down to a shadow of its former self. The scaffolding was bound to give way anytime, and the sheets of metal crumpled under his weight. Vin gingerly tapped the DOWN button, and the elevator whirred again, into even darker depths.
If one were to see Vin in action, he would be described as a specter, a grey wisp that passed by. He was able to avoid most combat (besides the monster rooms), and used only his Carver. Eventually, he arrived at the rest stop, the beginning passageway for Shadow Lairs. From past experiences, he knew that in order to find the brightest light, one must immerse his own self in the darkest of dark. The snarbolax had piqued his interest, so he traveled down into the Gloaming Wildwoods.
(Posting more tomorrow)
I observe Vin in the waters, and send a spike flying into the waters and onto the elevator platform to give him a sign....
Jak suddenly saw the white knight dart to the elevator and disappear.
It backtracked through the silent Gloaming Wildwoods. Soon, they would be roaring back to life the moment Vin set foot in them. The knight sat and waited for him at the foot of the elevator.
I see the Knight run away....I quickly reinforce my will to hold back my brothers. I spread my arms wide, hoping to gather more energy for the effort. The red on my fur glows brighter from overheat, and the water glows and churns in a circular motion. My brothers call for blood...
"Do you not remember your duty?" a voice echoed, Theo slowly opened his eyes to see the empty training hall. "Do you not remember?!" the voice growled again, Theo panicked when he hear the voice again. Who could it be? theo thought to himself, he checked around to see who's voice that was and he realized, that the voice is his owns.
"Who are you?! S-show yourself!" Theo shouted as he readied his blade, he could feel the blade slowly seeping his stamina as soon as he unsheathed the blade.
"Haha... So you can't even remember me..." the voice continued to taunt Theo. "Well then... I will take the liberty to remind you of your duty."
Theo could suddenly feel a presence coming from behind him, he turned back and was shocked to see something materializing from his shadow. A knight who adorns a similar gear to him appeared before him, the knight grinned and his golden eyes met Theo's.
"Do you now remember? the knight laughed as darkness slowly poured from his body, "You are not who you really think you are! Remember your duty so we can hunt once more!"
"No... I... I was there with the rest of the knights from the Crash site... I... I don't know what you're talking about!" Theo shouted, he turned around to run but the shadowy knight blocked him immediately.
"Do you think that I will let you go away this time?! I had been trying to get in contact with you for years... And thanks to Snarbolax's aura you felt earlier, it gave me another jump start." the knight growled as he pushed Theo back, he grinned again and pulled Theo's sword from the floor. "Do you see this?! This is your duty, to spread corruption to the fang and chaos to cradle! Yes! It is your duty...no...Our duty!"
Theo was shocked to hear from what the knight had said, Corrupting the blade?! The blade corrupted me! And why would I ever do anything to Cradle?! he thought to himself as he slowly crawled away from the knight. "You're crazy! Get away from me!"
"Get away from you? But I AM you!" the knight laughed as he quickly teleported right in front of Theo, he grabbed Theo's collar and choked him. "You are not who you think you are! You are not a knight, you are not from Isora nor either from Cradle! You are-" suddenly, the door was opened and light filled in the room. The knight quickly released Theo as the light burned his unethereal body, the knight screamed in pain and dissapeared leaving the Fang lying on the floor where the knight dissapeared.
"Theo!" a young knight wearing a Skolver armor rushed towards Theo who was still paralyzed in fear. "Are you alright? I thought I heard something..."
Theo looked up to see who it was, the determined green eyes and hallow glasses could only belong to one person.
As the elevator rode downwards, the air seemed to ripple, as if a surface of water was being touched. At first, it was a red light in the air. It then grew more intense, until it reached the point when it was enough to blind a person. The barb shot out of the ripple, and stuck itself into the floor.
A sign? Vin thought curiously as he picked up the thorn. Upon further inspection, he found that the darker areas of the barb had a more brown tinge than the midnight-blue shade of the other Snarbolaxes. That meant that there was a being similar, if not the same, as the current three beasts. He pocketed this, and walked out of the elevator. He had only been here one other time, and he barely manage to fend off the attack from the two rabid snarbolaxes. He had been in a party of three veterans, and their struggle had proven to him that the Shadow Lairs were to be taken seriously. Now, he had to fight alone against the two beasts. If only he could...
Something odd was occurring with the Swarm. Much less of the black nodes were present, as if it had concentrated its force somewhere else. No matter, he'd find a seed soon enough. The knight loped through the forest with little resistance, if any, and noted the absence of a Snarbolax in one of the danger rooms. It seemed that both were preoccupied with possibly another person, but his radar did not pick up any other readings. Something wasn't quite right...
"It is you...." Theo broke to a smile, he couldn't resist but to hug his old friend. He was scared to death after what had happened just before, if it wasn't for Marmalade to open the door, who knew what that... that monster might do to him?
"G-get off me!" Marmalade jerked as he pushed Theo away from him, Theo was surprised to see how powerful Marmalade had turned out to be after few years. Of course, changes doesn't happen in one night.
Theo looked around the training hall once more, he was confused of where everyone had disappeared to, did he faint again after using the Fang? "Marmalade... have you saw anyone going outside the training hall? Well to be much more specific, two gremlins, a demo and also a ash tail knight?"
Marmalade shook his head, "None, but I did saw a knight wearing an ash tail heading towards the arcade, maybe that's the one you mentioned?"
Without wasting any time, Theo rushed to grab his blade and left the training hall, leaving Marmalade to be alone there. "S-sorry! This is really important!" Theo shouted at Marmalade while sheathing his blade. Marmalade just sat there grinning, he was happy to finally see his old friend going back to the arcade. Theo finally reached the arcade and was surprised to see the major changes, he hadn't been in here for a long time...
"Which gate...." Theo hummed as he scratched his chin, which gate could possibly lead to Vin's whereabouts? Thinking now would be the best time, Theo tried to use his 'special' powers to locate Vin, strangely he couldn't feel anything as if he never had that power at the first place. "Talking about bad timing..." Theo growled, he quickly walked towards a gate labeled 'Coral Serpent'. Perhaps this may be the gate Vin went...
Feeling both nostalgic and afraid at the same time, Theo pressed the 'DOWN' button and the elevator slowly descended. Somehow, this elevator took longer than any other elevator Theo ever used, Is this the new modification? Making the elevator slower? Theo grumbled to himself. In the mean time he decided to check his mail he didn't get to check before, Theo noticed a new mail sent from Jak:
"Theo,
I think I know what's cursing you. I would like to meet you in person to help find a cure.
Signed,
Jak"
Theo groaned at this mail, why didn't he checked it earlier? That would quickly help him to find his answers, he regretted to ignore the knight from before. Just at that moment, the elevator accelerated at an amazing speed, it was so fast that fire started to spark from the edges of the floor. The elevator then broke loose with only one part of it still attached to the wall, Theo was screaming for help but his voice was drained by the sound of the metal screeching. He held on tight to the floor hoping that it will stop slowly, but Theo was wrong. The elevator didn't stop but instead became faster and faster until Theo lost his grip, he fell out of the elevator and landed with a loud thud on the grass.
"Dammit..." Theo groaned in pain, he opened his eye to see the elevator still going down at full speed. He looked around to see his environment, it seems that this place is 'Gloaming Wildwoods', or so he could recall. Theo returned his attention to the elevator, he was surprised that it was already engulfed in a wild fire, but what caught his attention was...
"CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP! MY FANG OF VOG!" Theo screamed as he watched his blade burning along with the elevator. Now Theo didn't have anything to protect himself from hostile creatures.
Jak stealthily disarmed and put away his bomb, not wanting to alert the Snarbolax that he'd been prepared to fight it if necessary. Seeing as this thing was capable of speech, and had likely been responsible for a few of the odd occurrences (like being stuck in the neck), he decided to bide the time in conversation with this beast. Due to his nervousness, his stutter had returned.
"S-so! You're th-th-the Snarbolax? D-do you h-h-h-have a name?"
Meanwhile...
The white knight saw Vin step off the elevator. He seemed to be lost in thought. Time to join him, and maybe introduce him to Cradle's native resident. She spoke in a clear, beautiful voice and extended a slender hand in greeting: "Hello, Vin! My name is Gwenyvier. I have been expecting you."
((OOC: Yes Seatus, I perused your fanfic to find her name. I hope you don't mind my taking it? :D))
((OOC, edited: Core character's name changed.))
Before he could reply, she saw the shadows of evil come alive and scurry to ambush them. "There is no time to talk. Come! Seatus awaits you. Watch your step."
"Eh?" Vin squeaked out as his hand was tugged by the strikingly bright girl. Last time he was in the wildwoods, he didn't recall this girl being here. In fact, she didn't even register into his party nor his radar. As they ran through the path, he noticed that the Swarm had suddenly amplified until it almost covered all of the forest. The only uncorrupted parts were the steps that Alice ran upon, although even these were swallowed quickly. Already several Seeds had formed, and what seemed to be a hand reached for Vin's back. The knight tugged his hand out of Gwen's grip and unsheathed his Fang, causing a small radius of the Swarm to be repelled. He severed the groping arm, and returned to following the girl. Every so often, he would stop for a few seconds to repel any attackers. If he met the two snarbolaxes now, he would be in a near-impossible fight. He felt invigorated from the flames, but soon he would lose his breath and stamina. If he could leave sooner...
OOC: Thin, next time you might want to ask first to use Seatus' character, because what you just did was pretty much plagiarism.
Yeah Thin, because Alice is still in the Core DX
Please, I ask you guys to edit your writing and find a different name before it's too late to change
"To answer your question, Jak, I do have a name. I was named Seatus...like...the Roman monster your people talked about long ago on Isora. Don't ask me how I know about Isora, because it's a long story..." I turn back to the water and put in more effort in holding back and weakening my brothers.
((OOC: I changed her name from "Alice" to "Gwenyvier." She was not intended to be the same character, but after Seatus noted the similarities (some minds think alike), I figured it would be cool if she shared the name. I apologize for the consternation it caused you.))
Jak sat down. "There is time for a long story. And...what the h-heck are you doing?" Even though Seatus was a beast, Jak could still tell that he was trying hard to focus on something. Elemental or shadow manipulation, perhaps? The Owlites were experts in the art; he still remembered the old bird Marcus Finch from his days on Isora, long before the "incident." Finch was a curious bird, always doing things without moving a muscle. He often used it to play tricks on people, causing "accidents" to happen when he had visitors. It was unnerving, to say the least. Was Seatus also capable of this kind of power? Maybe he could ask...
But he had a more pressing question: "What is the curse of Vog?"
Meanwhile...
Gwen dragged Vin to a grinding halt. There, in all their green, glowing glory, were the sickly, deranged, Rabid Snarbolaxes. Yeah, both of them. For the first time in years, she felt fear. She was there when the infant Snarbolax cubs were brought to Cradle by her trusted friend, King Tinkinzar. She knew all four of them, and watched them grow up as her fortress gradually transformed into a prison. These were no longer the cubs she once knew; they were rabid, amnesic, and dangerous. There was no telling how they would react to seeing her again. She put one hand on her flourish and outstretched the other towards the beasts. Summoning all the elemental light she could muster, she tried to force out the deadly poison.
It only worked on one of them. That one groaned and burrowed away. She hoped that it would contact Seatus. The other one only got angrier, and any color that glowed began to turn into crimson, characteristic of a Swarm infection. She immediately quenched the light and drew her flourish.
She then spotted a Fang of Vog in Vin's hand, and looked into his eyes; they were turning orange. His time was running out, and if she didn't get him to the Sanctuary quickly, he would corrupt and die. If they raced for the elevator, the Snarbolax would just overtake them and consume them. There was only one possible solution.
She whispered to Vin: "Go to the elevator and take it down. I will catch up with you."
He likely wouldn't understand his peril, and might not do as she asked. Besides, she's becoming a "damsel in distress," which might induce him to stay and help her. If she didn't have time to explain, she'd better make time. Options and ideas raced through her head as she and the beast began to circle each other.
"Dammit!" Theo groaned as he rested his exhausted body, "I don't think this day could get anymore worse..."
Of course, he was wrong. Theo noticed a pack of wolvers approaching him, he quickly scrambled through the grass and ran as fast as he could, only to be chased by even more hungry wolvers. Theo stopped on the edge of the cliff, he turned his back to see the packs of wolver ready to kill him.
"Awwww..... Let me help you with this..." a voice cackled in Theo's thought, "These furballs are no match for me...I meant... US..."
Theo looked behind him to see the same nightmare he had encountered before, the dark knight carrying the same blade Theo owned, only that this blade poured darkness instead of flames. The knight laughed and charged at the Alpha wolver who was caught by surprise, he struck the blade to the wolver's chest and twisted it. The innards were splattered all over the ground, causing the other wolvers to cower in fear.
"More blood! Yes! YES!" the knight laughed as he continued his slaughter, Theo just sat there at the edge of the cliff in horror. It was all over soon as the knight licked the blood of the wolver from the tip of the blade, "Sweeter than what I imagined." the knight laughed as he sheathed the blade.
"Who are you?!" Theo squeaked, the knight grinned and squat right in front of Theo. "Who am I? Well, that is quite profound coming from ME! But I will leave the Sherlock game to you, me...." the knight laughed and disappeared into the ground, transforming into Theo's shadow that disappeared along with the appearance of the knight before.
"Another... me?" Theo mumbled as he tried to regain his mobility, accidentally he slipped on the blood of a wolver and fell of the cliff. Falling into the growing darkness, Theo tried to scream once more but his voice didn't came out. He looked down to see the same elevator that had slowly stopped burning, thinking this might be the best to do, Theo gripped the hot floor once more and the elevator suddenly stopped.
"I'm...I'm still alive... right?" Theo tried to reassure himself, he slowly crawled towards the operating machine of the elevator and held on to it. He looked to the left to see his blade still stuck to the floor, "At least something didn't went through what I had..." Theo sighed and grabbed the blade.
"Peek-a-boo! I see you!" the familiar eerie voice laughed, the knight appeared right next to the other surprised knight. He then quickly opened Theo's pocket and took out a key Theo had kept for ages and didn't remember putting it there.... It was the Shadow Key.
"Wait.... I know what you're thinking..." Theo's voice trembled as he witness the knight fiddling with the key, "Yup!" the knight answered back happily. Theo tried to snatch the key away from the knight but failed, "Nu-uh! Finder's keeper!" the knight taunted Theo as he slowly threw the key to the air, the knight then stomped his boot to the floor and the elevator rushed down again.
Theo fell to the ground with another loud 'thump' at his back, this time he was right in front of another elevator... strangely this one's is locked unlike other elevator Theo had encountered before.
"Gee, I wonder what happens If I.... Put this key into the padlock?" the shadowy knight laughed as he inserted the key into the padlock, the chains burst into million pieces and darkness poured from the gate. "I hope you like swarm wolvers!" the knight laughed as he threw Theo into the descending elevator.
Things couldn't get any worse.
He saw a strange snarbolax. Unlike many beast, it's friendly and has it's feet as a hand. Dogish quickly run to the strange snarbolax.
"Are you friendly? Do you want to kill me? Do you know anything about a curse?" He asked politely to the snarbolax.
Jak had to chuckle a little. Dogish was evidently not fluent in the Isoran tongue, but why should he be? The Gremlins' own language was well-nigh indecipherable. He was trying to be polite, but came across as being overeager, bombarding the beast with questions faster than he could answer them. Well, they were good questions, anyways, and knowing himself, Jak wouldn't want to wait for several days between questions for the author to make Seatus answer them, either.
Seatus now had several questions to answer: 1. What do you know about the Curse of Vog? 2. Are you going to kill any of us? 3. Who are you friendly to?
Oh, and one more: "Do you know that knight who accompanied me?"
((OOC: feel free to make something up about her. She's not a registered character.))
I choked out an answer as my manipulation continued, "Vog was once as powerful as one of your "gods" and once upon a time, all three Fathers were. But those times changed when the Swarm was awakened. Your kind awakened them when you crashed and the Alpha Squad came too far down. They fed off all of our power. Vog had the most influence over the Wolvers at the time, and when you crashed the Swarm took almost all of his power, leaving him crippled. He is angry now, and wants to destroy you Knights with his burning hatred by having your own swords end you. He believes the Swarm will leave us alone if you all meet your fate." I gagged again from the energy being exalted to hold my brothers back and making them weaker.
"That person that accompanied you is a noble from Almire. I dread to say this, but I believe she is a descendant of the Red Queen..." I am about ready to collapse...."She believes King Tinkinzar brought us here, but she is still wrong. We implanted differing memories in her head to keep her from remembering her harsh past..." I fall to the ground and blackout....
Upon seeing Seatus collapse, Jak darted to his side and looked him over. He saw a small green streak beginning to form below Seatus's eye, evidence that he had been focusing telepathic elemental powers. Jak fished around in his pocket for his scanner and determined the exact level and growth rate of the streak, and then inserted a dynamic vial of dark matter into a slot attached to the scanner. Carefully, he applied the dark matter to neutralize the harmful elements. If he applied to much, there would be a very different problem.
It was a success. The green streak vanished, and not an ounce more dark matter was used than was needed. But the operation was not complete; Seatus had collapsed from blood loss. The symptom was vaguely familiar, but if Jak remembered correctly, blood loss occurred when it was liquidated into transferrable life energy...or something like that. Marcus Finch didn't teach very well. But if Jak was right, then Seatus needed new blood.
Apparently, someone else had the same thought. Another snarbolax appeared, and it ran over to Seatus, cried out in pain for a moment (with its characteristic low howl), and sank its fangs into Seatus's throat. After several very tense seconds, the creature let go. At first, Jak thought it strange that a Snarbolax would kill one of its own like that, but upon closer inspection (well, as close as he dared), it seemed that blood had actually been transferred from the snarbolax to Seatus.
The color returned to Seatus's face.
Meanwhile...
The black & crimson snarbolax suddenly lunged at Gwen, biting into a blue energy barrier that quickly turned orange. Her shield wasn't built for this kind of fight, and wouldn't last long under extended attack. She whacked the creature in the face with her flourish, but all that did was irritate it. She rolled to the side as it tunneled past her. The bell was close; if she could just reach it...
The snarbolax tunneled up behind her, pounced on her, and held her head down as it opened wide its jaws to finish her off.
Vin was rushing towards the elevators now, after laboriously climbing over the gate. There were the sounds of clanging metal and growls, but Vin ignored those. It wasn't until there was a tiny sound of torn flesh did he turn back. Gwen was already pounced on. He spun around and ran straight at the gate, fang unsheathed and burning bright, and thrusted the blade of the fang at the beast. A massive jet of flame erupted, engulfing his arm with flames. Just as it had suddenly appeared, it lost power. His right arm was reduced to a burnt mass of flesh and bones, but the Fang crumbled away from his arm.

(First-person POV)
It burned. Those flames I should have held back, that cursed fire I told myself again and again I was never going to use...
Was it really worth it? I'm on my knees now, I can't feel my arm at all. This pain all for some random stranger that would promise me asylum from this curse? Must've been some trick by the Swarm. Okay, I got it sheathed now. It's safe in the scabbard. But it BURNS. I'm looking at my arm, and it's fragging gone! Just a lump of crap hanging by whatever tendons I've got left...
The flame I used seems to have melted the gates, and it just caught alight on the black briar. The smoky scent fills my lungs; the pain is much more dulled than it was. Maybe I can inhale the stuff 'til I die or something, whatever. Pfft, I didn't even get t-
Something red is in my eyes. I feel my heart beating, and my ears begin to hear things more acutely. The crackle of the flames. The girl's soft breaths. The echo of a roar. I feel alive again; there is nothing keeping me from dying now. Not the missing limb, not the failing lungs, nothing. I then feel this ferocity, this need to smother the flames that I had previously nurtured. The flames are destroying the for-
The flames are destroying my forest. I belong here. I am not some peon at the mercy of a beast. I am the apex predator of the wilds. Nothing ca-
No, I am a Knight. I was sent on the Skylark as a Recruit. I crashed on Cradle. I want to get out.
No, I am just a beggar at the feet of the almighty power. I am just mere fuel. I will be swallowed.
I black out. In my unconsciousness, I see the Eye watching me. The soft magenta seems sinister, yet welcoming at the same time. I will continue to observe this thing as it observes me. Will I? No, I should just drift away. But I know this Eye all too well. Yes, I will stay here. Until the light comes...
"NGYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" Theo screamed as the elevator accelerated down in extreme speed, it was so fast that his consciousness is at stake. Theo slowly closed his eyes, he couldn't keep his balance anymore.
"Vin..." a voice echoed through Theo's mind, "I think he could be a use for me... I meant US...."
Suddenly, Theo gained his consciousness. "Vin... Could help me?" he mumbled to himself as he tried to focus on the ground, Theo noticed a knight wearing an ash tail set unconscious on the ground... Could it be?
The elevator stopped as it reached the ground, Theo grabbed his blade and rushed towards the knight. He kneeled down to check the knight, it is him... It is Vin!
"Vin.... Wake up! Wake up!" Theo shook Vin with all his available strength, he turned his attention to his arm... It gone.... tears began forming from his eyes. He promised to protect him even at the cost of his life, but this time... Theo had failed him.
"The blade you idiot...." the same voice echoed Theo's distant mind. Theo turned his back to see his shadow talking to him, the shadow formed a grin and pointed it's finger towards Theo's scabbard. "The blade will be more usefull in his hands... Not on an amateur's...."
Right at that moment, the sheathed Fang glowed radiantly. Theo could feel as if... As if the blade is transferring it's power to Vin's, but is it possible for the destructive flames to regenerate the lost parts of Vin's body?
"If... If this is what I must do to find my answers... " Theo gulped as he pulled his blade out, he placed it on Vin's chest and his tears dripped down from his cheeks, the dripping tear turned into vapor as it fell down to the blade.
Theo then opened his eyes and screamed to the skies. "Please don't die!"
That moment, the blade which had already been binded to him released a powerful burst of energy, forming chains that fell apart. Theo closed his eyes as his consciousness faded with the pact of his blade, all he can do now is rest until he can open his eyes again.
"Good... The pact is destroyed... Now... I... No we.... Can create it... Using the power of corruption...." the eerie voice cackled as it returned back into silence.
(OOC: as you can see.. I'm trying to do what I can to connect to the story. So Theo unbinded his blade to give it to Vin :D
But I haven't comprehended everything yet, so you could point it out to me if I make mistakes....)
Unable to wait any longer, Jak declared, "I'm worried about Vin and Theo. I'm going after them!" He raced to the elevator and took it up.
When he got there, it was a sight to behold. Vin was lying on the ground with his right arm missing; Theo was sitting beside Vin, silent as death; and the white knight was sitting up, watching something around the corner. Jak came up to Theo and sat beside him. Without saying a word, he withdrew a light shard and blue shard from his pouch. "Here," he said as he gave them to Theo. "Crush them together and eat them."
Meanwhile...
Before the snarbolax could bite her head off, there was a deafening roar, and the beast disappeared. She sat up and looked to see what had happened. An albino snarbolax had pounced on her attacker, and the two of them were rolling around clawing and smacking each other. Sifting through her memory, she recovered the name of the albino - Skolver, the legendary white snarbolax. So if that was Skolver, Seatus was at the Sanctuary, and Seerus (the snarbolax after whom the Warmaster was named) was in T1 Gloaming Wildwoods, then the infected one must be...Seraph.
She got up and joined the group of knights. She touched Theo's cheek and lifted up his chin, and then focused on Vin. She bent over him and came close enough to almost kiss him. She smiled, and Vin felt her get off his right arm. It was healed.
Suddenly, she felt very faint, and a searing heat roared into her head. As she headed for the elevator, the fire spread throughout her body before she realized what was happening. Vog was not so much imprisoned with her so much as he was in her. She began to panic, and frantically searched for a means of putting herself as far away from her dear knights as possible, in the hopes of granting them a few more precious seconds of life before the beast within had its way. She cried bitterly as she raced for the elevator and punched the button.
The elevator didn't budge. It was already worn down, and had broken down this time around. Everyone, including her, was trapped on this level until it could be fixed. Frustrated, she screamed with rage and tried to climb up the elevator shaft. She had only gone a couple meters before Vog overtook her, and she collapsed on the platform. As her consciousness drifted into the void, she wondered if all the beings trapped within her would each take their turn. She could only hope and pray that her heroes, the knights, could survive and conquer the onslaught. Her body began to grow and catch on fire as it took the form of the newly released Vog.
In my dream, I see...everything.
((OOC: There are three beings trapped inside her. Vog, the king of elements; Scarlet, queen of shadows, a.k.a. "Red Queen;" and Gwenyvier, queen of light, who was up until now the dominant one.))
Well, since Gwen has become an important character, I figured it would be appropriate to make a "late" character submission for her.
Name: Gwenyvier, a.k.a. "Gwen"
Appearance: delicate eyes, extra tall height, white personal color
Proto gear: white spiral round helm w/ mecha wings & plume, white spiral draped armor
Loadout: Valkyrie Helm w/ lowered visor, Valkyrie Mail w/ Divine Valkyrie Wings, Grey Owlite Shield, Final Flourish
Biography: Back on Ilsola, she was known as the "Queen of Light." She had the ability to effortlessly liquidate matter into pure energy and telepathically manipulate it at will. Vog and Scarlet were her most powerful servants, and she trusted them with the planet. However, thinking they were stronger than her and thus deserved to rule, they rebelled against her and began a civil war. Unable to combat them directly, she had to protect herself and her subjects from harm, and thus devised a plan to collect nearby worlds and use them to simultaneously imprison Vog and Scarlet while providing her people with a defensible fortress. Since she did not have the mechanical prowess to construct the fortress, she recruited King Tinkinzar to oversee and control the process. However, he betrayed her by turning it into a dungeon, which slaughtered her people by the millions, defeating the purpose of the fortress. Due to a further error on her part, she mistakenly caused Vog and Scarlet to merge with her. Scarlet first took control, and brought the Swarm to Cradle. Then Vog took his turn, and utterly destroyed the kingdom of Almire, which at the time was her only ally, and made Lord Vanaduke his servant. Finally, Gwenyvier regained control.
She couldn't have regained control at a luckier time. The Spiral Knights were orbiting the planet, scanning it and analyzing it, and seeing their potential, she brought them down to Cradle, both to rescue her and to stop the threat of Vog and the Swarm.
Her abilities are currently unremarkable. Her light powers have substantially diminished, and she is only capable of healing things with it. She is otherwise no stronger, and perhaps weaker, than a typical knight, though she is notably more agile.
OOC: Accepted? Sure :P this more like Seatus' work now, since most of the lore focuses on his story more XD

I wake up now, and I see a blinding flash of light writhing by the elevator. The warm colors resemble that of something I remember, but I'm not sure quite what. My right arm can feel again, but it something isn't quite right with it. It's a dark-blue hue, and a layer of fur has grown out of it. There's no pain or anything, just the sense of hundreds of needles in my arm. I stand myself up slowly, and stare at the light. An orange-crimson light of fire. I remember everything now, the woman, the fang, someone screaming...
Theo and the girl had saved me.
But what was on the elevator now wasn't someone that I remember. At least, not immediately. I feel a sense of urgency, a sense to make me flee. I keep this impulse down, and continue to observe...
