A level creator for the game would work with the Gate Construction system. Player-created levels are cycled through the system in order of creation, and are only re-used in the absence of further submissions. Before you can create a level, you must decide what stratum and themes it will use. This will limit the types of enemies, objects, textures, and such you can use in the level. There are limits on the number of each type of enemy and on the total number of enemies you can place. The number of allotted treasure boxes is inversely proportional to the number of allotted enemies. Respawned enemies drop only hearts. The level editor must be smart enough to check that the level has a spawn elevator and exit elevator, a fully connected path between these elevators, and that nothing in the level's design can trap knights in the level. In the absence of such a system, a developer must review the level and check for these problems.
Opinions?
Manual checking of levels would be too slow with everyone submitting new maps.
I'm not sure of the feasibility of a smart automated checker. It would solve all the problems but there are lots of ways to mess with the level, either to cheat or to troll and trap players.
