How about reducing base charge time for damage bombs?

The problem, as she goes, is twofold.

Firstly, nobody brings a damage bomb as a sidearm. This is because you just can't use a bomb without bonuses. I frequently bring Pepperbox, Triglav, Polaris, Biohazard, Callahan and Thorn Blade completely without bonuses and perform just fine without mentionable difficulties. In fact, sometimes I put on plate armour to get decreased attack speed and I still kill things like a champ.

I could never bring a Nitronome with reduced anything. The idea is silly.

The other problem is that people are not very fond of Bombtastic in the clockworks. Show up in FSC wearing Skolver armour and people will think you're well prepared and probably a finely honed warrior reliant on your ability to not catch fire. Show up in FSC wearing Bombtastic and chances are you'll just get kicked. Bombtastic is overlooked because its damage over time is inferiour to that of Volcanic, and people don't really appreciate Bombtastic giving them more time to think and the reduced amount of explosions are friendlier towards the party because picking the damage suit, ultimately, let's them output less damage than the low charge time reduction of their previous suit.

Because I will never stop looking for excuses to link it, this is the DPS-chart I made for bombs.

How about if we reduce the base charge time for Nitro but keep the max CTR charge time the same? For the record, this is the current chart for charge time reduction on most damage bombs, going from no reduction to max:

2200, 2040,1866, 1701, 1545, 1400, 1225

And this is the chart for damage on Nitro. This is pure damage per bomb, not DPS:

214, 227. 241, 254, 268, 291, 295

Charge time is improved about 80% while damage is improved about 38%. Anyone notice a bit of imbalance here? The damage increase seems fine, but the difference in charge time is pretty obscene, particularly considering that it directly affects damage. Let's close the gap a bit so that it's equal:

1689, 1592, 1499, 1423, 1348, 1242, 1225

I dunno, I immediately don't like it even before checking DPSes. The jump from Ultra to max is also barely nothing, but that's just because it's that way with damage. Let's just invent some numbers and OOO can adapt them using their incomprehensible formulas:

1800, 1700, 1600, 1500, 1400, 1300, 1200

See? Wasn't that easy? Let's check damage over time.
CTR from none to max with no DSI: 119, 126, 134, 143, 153, 165, 178
DSI from none to max with med CTR: 134, 142, 151, 159, 168, 182, 184

Very High damage increase with med CTR (using only Bombtastic) is not quite there with max CTR (using only Volcanic), but at least max damage wins out and the difference is no longer all that great.

Discuss. Obviously, the change would not affect vortexes and hazes. Not entirely sure what to do with BAB.

Here's my guess.

I think, that the reason why not many people like Bombastic in FSC is because people rarely use damage bombs besides DBB (for trojans) in FSC. If someone sees someone with Voltaic Tempests, Shivermist Busters or even Venom Veilers, they'll be tolerated. If the bomber shows up with Nitronomes or other bombs in that line, due to the knockback on the bomb, the player gets shunned.

Then again, someone might be using the Bombastic Set as a costume (*cough*Spiral-Hipster*cough*).

Actually the Blast Bomb hate seems to have vanished these days. I've brought my Irontech to FSC every run for about a month or so now (and before that, my BAB) and the only remarks I've ever gotten are along the lines of "I've never seen an Irontech/BAB before" or "Is that an a Irontech/BAB?!"

I want a bomb with catalyzer charge time and I don't care what it does. It's just wrong to have a weapon with a normal attack have a faster charge than charge only weapons.

Offensive bombs could definitely use some touching up such that bombastic armor be viable.

the only dmg bomb i seen bein

the only dmg bomb i seen bein usefull is dark retribution and dark briar barrage ... and i use dark retribution more vs jelly and beast and briar barrage on zombies and gremlin .. for some reason they are more efficient on what they are not even ment to be used against at the first place
