Hello all,
I would just like to make a suggestion that the elevator fee should be decreased to 5 energy per floor because I have noticed that in 1 hours time 100 mist energy is depleted quickly. I think that this would let players have more time doing missions instead of begging other player to give them CE. People wouldn't like to wait 22 hours just to play one hour, or to waste the money they have earned on CE. (o.o)

I know it must have already been stated but I just wanted to bring the subject back up again. (^-^)

Thanks
:D

your not the first to ask

your not the first to ask this and its been that way for years .. changing it would piss off the old members .

when your able to run and farm vana , you make more energy than you use , but before that , when your out of energy , youc an just go have a walk , do some acivities , play another game ..and come the next day

there is nothing else you can do about energy consumption and reload rate

-0.999...

less to pay on elevator =
-more crowns on the game
-up the price of the CE (7 to 13-15k)
-less profit on boss tokens (because you can make 2x more tokens each day)
-more materials on game (already have tons of scrap metal/gel drop/... and the game does not have a good material sink)
-less utility on "elevator pass" (less players will buy)
...

a chain reaction than is good to be avoided
is best to leave this as an event of 1-2 days every six months/year, where comes a time when it appears new players, as already occurs

seerusly, i went through this problem when I was 2-3 stars, and even now, as 5 star, i waste some of the energy to get more energy ... a cycle too slow for a f2p

Are you constantly CE reviving or something? I can make 100 mist last for 2 hours, easily.

Your asking for a free promotion and there are various reasons why this isn't permanent.

Who would complain about Spiral Knights becoming MORE playable for F2P players?

Oh, yeah. The rich kids that spend their money on EPs every month. I don't count those guys as "gamers", though... Heck, I'm not sure they even count as people.

You mean those that maintain the game and pay for the servers while you leech it and rant without even saying "thanks"? :D

You're worse than them.

"Who would complain about Spiral Knights becoming MORE playable for F2P players"

People who don't want the game to die. Not in general, but this suggestion is a bad idea.

When a company advertises a

When a company advertises a game as "Free 2 Play" they shouldn't expect users to.. well, you know, pay anything. OOO is a bit funny that way.

They advertise SK as free, but it should be "It's free, but if you want to enjoy it, you'll have to pay". You don't make a "free" game so you get thanked for your hard work. You do it so people enjoy themselves. There's no such thing as leeching off of a free product (if you want to argue that point, you're welcome to; you'll be wrong, but whatever).

I find it ironic this suggestion is not the removal of the energy cost. It's a reduction to it. So, no, it's not stating "make the game amazing for F2P players, so no one ever needs to pay". The halving of the cost, doubles the playability. You also have to take into account the audience of this game. I highly doubt people with high-paying salaries play this game very often (as in, the ones with money to burn).

A lot of people will be kids with no access to funds. Extending the playability opens up to that market. SK can only expand to more adult market by making SK more adult-related (which, in doing so, closes out the younger market). So, please, never claim extending playability for F2P players on a FREE game is a bad thing. OOO knew what they let themselves in for when they decided to not add a price tag or subscription fee.

By your logic, it's like advertising free cheeseburgers; then only giving hamburgers because they didn't pay for the cheese.

The actual effects of this change aren't as severe as you make out:
+ Doubled playability for F2P players.
+ Less inclination to pay money to advance (actually play the game a fair bit, rather than spend money and do next to nothing).
- Reduced income for server upkeep.

You can see the only negative is for the game provider, not the gamer. That's, you know, the point of developing a game. To please your audience.

@Quakeman: Sorry if I came across really harsh. It was a.. bad moment for me..

Yes and No.

It is to a fact that this game wants to be made playable to the general audience, however, no one here really wants to devote their time for a charity case. Yes they advertise it as free, and it is still up to date, the most "free" game I can really find.

But just because it's free doesn't mean it should completely provide for the players. They need to find some way to earn money, and thus they provided incentives for people who pay, energy. Also by making energy a mandatory asset in the game also emphasizes the need for crowns in the game. In the end, the incentive given to payers can be used to exchange for in-game currency and therefore on many other aspects of the game.

This is a very fair system, whereby free to play players get energy by paying their hard-earn crowns, pay to play players get crowns by paying their hard-earn energy, and OOO gets their money by paying their hard-earn effort put into the game.

Honestly, I find nothing wrong in the energy system, but I know how it might feel like that f2p players don't get to play as long as they can, especially newer players, due to the level of free trade in the energy system.

"A lot of people will be kids with no access to funds.", generalization, please avoid it. I can already see there are quite a number of people paying for energy, and these payers are directly providing free to play players the energy, at a price. If you really think that paying is all that matters, or not paying is all that matters, you are wrong. I believe that both sides are relatively important. You need a supplier, you need a demand, and that forms the market.

"it's like advertising free cheeseburgers; then only giving hamburgers because they didn't pay for the cheese." I apologize to say that is a bad analogy. By advertising free cheeseburgers and not getting what you are promised, is not what OOO had done. OOO had said this game is free to play, which means it is of no charge to be accessing the game. They didn't advertise any hidden costs, such as energy. They only said it was free to play. If you can't be bothered to wait another 22 hours for 100 energy, even though it is given free, then you shouldn't bother playing the game in the first place.
