It dawned on me recently on what the strangers were mumbling.
It's not gibberish.
They say "candy", as if they were trying to lure you into their lair.
They say "beep-beep", as if they were honking for you to get you into the car.
Maybe this is simply a coincidence-- I haven't checked what else they say to see if it is simply harmless ramblings.
Please post your thoughts on this matter. If you have any other evidence, please post. I do hope I'm wrong about them...
You are correct in saying that kane is the Japanese word for money. However, the strangers pronounce the word with a ni sound at the end, which would completely change the meaning. Therefore, I don't think it can represent the Japanese word for money...
It just sounded like a very short "i" at the end which can sound like a short "e" as well, but whatever.
I guess I might just be influenced to believe that they are pedophiles because of their mysterious ways and the fact that they're called strangers. They're probably harmless
They're actually constructs built and operated by the snipes to gather money because the snipes are a race of cheerful but shiny-loving creatures (like crows)
This is evident because the Strangers appear and move mechanically, are always surrounded by snipes, the stranger hats having snipe feathers in them, whenever they speak you can hear a cassette being inserted and whirring to life, and the only houses around have bird-sized doors,
