Is Multiboxing Allowed? (Reconfirmation with CURRENT ToS)

I've searched wiki, forums, the web, and the ends of this internet to find VERY vague answers to the simple question:

Is Multiboxing allowed?

Clearly Third-party influences, botting, and such are NOT Allowed.
Obviously, I'm asking if Multiboxing -WITHOUT "Against ToS" factors- is Allowed?

Now, before you think "Why not just search the threads; file a ticket; Or ask someone knowledge-able on this rather than us"
That is obviously because I have searched the threads, I'm too shy to file a ticket about something that had been discussed before, and i don't know anyone who knows the answer to this simple question.

Also; throw out the thoughts of "You use energy on both anyways; how is it profitable; i'll give my opinion"
I'm not asking "Is multiboxing profitable?".. Or for your "Opinion" on "Is Multi-boxing Allowed?"... I'm asking if it is "Allowed"

Also, i'm not asking about how many accounts can be used if it is allowed; Let's say its ONLY two PAID accounts if that's a determining factor.

Please.. I'm begging you.. No vague answers.

Also.. some of the GM answers in previous threads seem to be vague as well. In addition to also being from Last year or even Older. I do not know if the ToS had ever gone through any Changes that Alter the validity of those answers. (Since i'm a recent player who started this year)

For example:
Eurydice had said on Thu, 03/01/2012 - 15:09, "Three free accounts. You can log into them all at once and play in the clockworks with them (i.e., multibox), but any "performance enhancing" software--bots, etc.--is forbidden by the Terms of Service."

That is an answer to my question. I want to know if this is still valid with the CURRENT ToS and if you can play with them on the SAME depth.

Anyways; sorry for the confusion if any occurred. I just don't want to do anything that might break the rules. I'm really self-conscious <(O3O)>

Thank you for any valid responses. Even more Thanks if a GM would just bluntly say Yes or No to the question <3

I would like to know this as well, even though I would need an extra brain to make use of it.

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

I think it should be valid...otherwise we would have had multiple people banned over it at this point.

It is still valid, Raptor-Zy.

It is still valid, Raptor-Zy. I was around when Eurydice made that statement, and I can say with much certainty that nothing has occurred since then that would have changed the grounds for that statement.

You may have up to three free accounts logged in and playing the clockworks at any time.

There is no restriction on how many paid accounts you can use simultaneously.

my 2 cents

Multi-boxing is always allowed because it does not give you an advantage over another one.

Multi-boxing only means to have the same game running at the same time on the same pc, which could be done via VM...

However if a multi-boxing program HELPS you play with those two account at the same time then yes it is against the ToS. If it does not then no.

Three free accounts. You can log into them all at once and play in the clockworks with them (i.e., multibox), but any "performance enhancing" software--bots, etc.--is forbidden by the Terms of Service.

I have four. I do not use a software to gain advantages, I cannot move two knights at the same time. I can only have two instance of the game running at the same time. That's whats against the ToS...

As long as you are

As long as you are multiboxing with a separate energy tab, there should be no problem. Bring up the subject of something that starts with a V and ends in an M, and OOO gets nervous.

No-Thanks
hope this is okay to post

this is from june 2011

"hello, ive read in the forums before on how some1 can abuse multiple accounts
by charging energy on them with real money

and ive also checked the terms of service if its ok to do so or not, but i
didnt find anything and just used multiple accounts' mist energy to gather a
few extra crowns

i would like to have a confirmation on whether its ok or not to multi client
in spiral knights, since i dont want to get banned for doing so, but i also
dont want to be scared of any1 reporting me and thus playing alone more often"

"We allow multiple accounts to play within reason. Mist is shared for free
accounts, but accounts that have paid real money will have their own pool of
mist you can use. This means it's fine to make a payment on more than one
account so you can have different mist tanks. However with that being said,
abusing this is not allowed. We'd take a complaint about that on a case by
case basis. So feel free to pay for a second account and use the mist on that
one too."

"Okay, so far i've understood. I'll describe the possible scenarios more
precisely this time, i apologize to expect a detailed answer to a vague
question.

Case 1: 2 clients on 1 computer with separated Mist Energy
A person is using 2 clients/accounts/characters at the same time for the same
depth in the clockworks. He/She has set 1 character to be afk most of the
time, while his/her other character actually plays the game. The energy for
energy gates and lifts is used from each of the character's Mist Tank's.

Case 2: 2 clients on 1 computer with separated Mist Energy
A person is using 2 clients/accounts/characters at the same time for the same
depth in
the clockworks. He/She has set 1 character to be afk most of the time,
while his/her other character actually plays the game. The energy for energy
gates and lifts is used from 1 character's mist tank in order to save the mist
energy of the main character.

Case 3: 2 clients on 1 computer using Crystal Energy for Elevators/Energy
Gates
A person is using 2 clients/accounts/characters at the same time for the same
depth in
the clockworks. He/She has set 1 character to be afk most of the time,
while his/her other character actually plays the game. The energy for energy
gates and lifts is used from the Crystal Energy, that the person bought either
with real money or from other players.

Case 4: 1 client on 1 computer
A person is using 1 client/account character at a time to harvest crowns. When
his/her mist tank is empty, he/she chooses to use his/her other character from
his/her other account to harvest more crowns.

The first 3 cases all include multi clienting. From my general understanding,
i would see it as a taboo, but it is way too common to not mention it. Case 4
sounds okay to me. If any of the cases is bannable, so please let me know,
because none of the cases are mentioned in the ToS and i would like to send a
request to tos@threerings.net to update it in order to prevent
misunderstandings and clarify things. I would like to know, which cases are
okay and which aren't."

"the issue with case 1-3 is not an abuse of multiple accounts or mist energy;
the problem with that lies in what those accounts are used for.

We have not yet settled on a definitive policy for handling this sort of game
play as we hope to get it fixed through changes in game mechanics, but I'd
advise against doing that sort of thing - it is not intended use of game
mechanics, and abusing design flaws is a violation of our Terms of Service.

Multi-clienting in general (for instance, because you want to look at the
auction house while being in a gate with your main knight) is not a problem at
all.

Similarly, case 4 is fine in the exact version as described. However, there
may be more extreme versions of that scenario that we'd consider abusive. This
would be a situation we'd have to examine in each specific case to determine
whether we consider that normal game play or not."

having written my cases, i knew this is as precise as it gets
after these 2 mails i still couldnt quite figure to what extent i can play 100% safe or not..so i just gave up on it and got back to mist crafting
if u understand this stuff ur probably good to go

in the meantime i think i got more warnings for bad language than for anything else rofl - too bad they never tell me what exactly they warn me for..yes very VAGUE

Open 2 free acounts at once- their mist won't update in real time. Tab yourself, then kick the alt. Free elevator.
If you want, you can carry the alt to get double money too.

To FSC!

Better do Multi-boxing before Eury changes the ToS!

my 2 cents

It's more tedious and laggy to have 2 SK doing FSC... I'd rather go alone because it's faster.

@ no-thanks I already have elevator pass so the Case 1 2 and 3 don't happen for me. Case 4 happens everytime I bring a mule though. I just find it funny that because you have a mule you can do whatever you want but tabbing a main char is what's bothering you. That's the least profitable way to use your mist IMO... I use them to buy trinket when I'm running out or craft brandishes...

mi2

i do buy trinkets and weapon slots on noob chars from paid accs and ive crafted ctr vh calibur on them as well but back then when i actually played the game(clockworks), it wouldve looked pretty odd for ppl when they see me and my dead alts

yea maybe doesnt look profitable but i get 2 chars tabbing my main => all 3 chars get the full tier1 money about 4-6k x 3 = 12-18k cr i keep all mats and extra heat and my main keeps all his mist, plus free opening of energy gates plus i could always spare energy to revive myself and thats only 2 of my chars
