First impressions of a P2P player

I have friends and guild mates who p2p and f2p and I respect both equally as much.

Just because a player has Variants on their gear, it doesn't make them a better player.

Or if a player does not own any gear with Variants, it doesn't make them less of a player.

I don't think you should judge anyone base on their gear, costumes, it's who they are that really defines them.

Even though I think that p2p players should not be glorified, but it should be encouraged, as that's what keeps the staff and the company in business.

But sterotypes like this that shouldn't exists within the community, I have a job and haven't spent thousands of dollars.

Hey but that's just what I think, what do you guys think?

I'm just curious of what are your first impressions when you spot a p2per? Or have you come across stereotypes like this before?

I don't hear it as much as I used to, but I agree, it is very annoying when people conflate spending a little money on SK with somehow being a spoiled rich kid. I have spent some money on this game, mostly on costumes, presents for friends and guildies, and in order to run guild events, but I am a.) not rich, b.) not spoiled--I work for a living, thank you, and c.) not a kid. I try to stay out of the usual F2P/P2P arguments, but it is true that SOMEONE has to spend a little money to keep the servers on, or none of us would have a game to play at all. Sorry you ran into some hate, Stelli :(

I see them and I think 'good for them, supporting the developers like that.'

It doesn't make them 'tainted' or anything like that...

Also-

"it's who they are that really defines them."

I would disagree. We're all products of our environment, and are entirely and absolutely equal, regardless of whether we scam people, antagonize them, or refuse to let me into Echo of Silence.

There is no ethical basis for judging people. And yet, we all have to. :)

You don't need to spend much money on the game to get really good UVs.

Until recently, I had several double max/vh items, and I got most of my CE by trading TF2 items. When I started playing Spiral Knights, I had roughly 100 TF2 keys in my backpack worth ~1000 CE each.

I've also bought some CE, but it's not much when compared to the amount I've obtained through trading alone.

What I mean by "it's who they are that defines them",

I mean that it's their personality that defines who they are.

It does go both ways I believe. A player can just as easily make a Chaos Set, with no UVs, and get max ctr on everything level 10 and max dmg as Striker in Lockdown. One game there was a player with full Chaos and Glacius bragging about his damage because he had -no UVs- and was just wildly throwing Glacius charges at everyone.

I should also add harassing everyone that said something about him using full Chaos and not needed UVs.

When I spot a P2Per ---- I ask them why they are not Eos....but in all honesty to me personally I rarely care if you are F2P or P2P since at the end of the day both groups rely on each other for survival.

Some people get jelly when they see people who use their hard-work earned money to get these triple maxes and what not, mainly because they can't spend themselves, or their parents don't allow them to use their credit card. And no, there is no shame in being a P2P, unless you are really a spoiled rich kid using his parents' credit card without them knowing, which I think nobody is like this... Or can it be true?

What is love?!

@Stelli: This "player" has been harassing and spamming a lot of people in this game. What's making me laugh is the fact that he keeps repeating the same things to everyone. But well... it's just another way to deal with personal traumas... Some people don't know how to use the internet properly lol.

What I dont like is...

That P2P who rubs it in your face and feels entitled to something.
and...
That F2P who judges himself above everybody else with better gear.

and dude, dont be telling strangers you waste money on UV. recipe for disaster.

There's a few hints, but unless a player's seen the name before, guessing the offender's name would be difficult at best. I can try, if you want :P

On topic, I find I care little about P2P/F2P so long as there's respect on all sides.

So i will be p2p...One day

I will buy some stuff one day...Only because i need it...I have a problem of...Not chosing what i want c:

By that i mean i starter with striker then bought the 3 star elemental then i saw i needed the 2 star to make the 3 star then i bought 2 star recipe made them then i said "y'know what?....Heavy armor is better" So i switched to heavy armor 2 star...So many crowns needed....Some energy could help a lot...

But anyway i'm agains't those sterotypes things.

Oh and the name is "Jonlka", did i got it?

One thing I don't get is why people brag about that type of stuff. I mean, as far as I know (EXCEPT for OCH), no DLC currently gives you any "good" gear. The starter pack has new weapons, but they soon become junk after you get to 2 star (which won't be long). And for getting a DLC just for CE, I call that stupidywizardry.

Honestly..

Honestly I find it stupid how people judge people just cause they payed on a game, SO WHAT, they payed on a game, let them mind their own money and mind your own, you're not the money manager of (This players name), if you want to judge people judge them on their personality, not cause they payed money on a game.

I did spend money on the game that's because I worked for it

Normally what I'm getting at is don't judge people by what they have, judge them on personality, some people spent money on a game possibly like about.. lets say 50-$100? If they spent about that much that basically won't mean they're a rude brat. You don't know until you meet them, just saying like "Wow you payed on a free game what a waste" then pretty much things are going to escalate from there.

To answer your question when I spot a P2P'er I could careless cause it's his money, but if he's loaded with accessories such as

Snarby set(w/ Shadow Valkyrie/dragon wings, Haunted Aura)

Or so I think "Wow nice accessories, I'm jelly"

But I did met someone very similar to that person and I might have a very good clue who that is, but I'm not giving away his name cause I may not like the guy, but I want his privacy hidden and don't want him to have problems with other people he doesn't know.

my 2 cents

I'm P2P and managed to get 5* as a F2P when I did not work and wasn't attending school either.

Now that I work full time I don't have the time to do 10 vana a days so I simply put 20$ in the game. At the end of the day, I still have more money in my bank account than most of my fellow co-worker because I don't waste 100$ in one night on booze and whatnot...

You decide what you like and support it. If it weren't of P2P, this game would've gone nowhere.

And F2P makes CE price go higher... so... at the end of the day you can call me a spoil brat, you are still on the internet, in someone house, being fed... which is being a spoiled brat compared to 2/3 of the world who lives in poverty

No P2P'er = no accessories

your welcome

Boom!

@Shamanala: Untrue. Just because someone has accessories doesn't mean they payed for CE. I've spent years grinding this game and have obtained good accessories such as the divine halo from promo boxes. Or the free prize boxes with prismatic party hats. Still F2P over here....

As I said, being a P2P is not wrong by any means, but sometimes it gets ridiculous to see a P2P paying over 6000$ on so called "Free-To-Play" game. Still, there is nothing wrong in that, because it's THEIR money not yours, but some people get upset because of it....

Six Thousand Dollars... Heck yeah!

@ Icegill

At first the market was flooded with accessories due to P2P opening lockboxes by tons... they pretty much made the accessories market as the key cost 750 ce for a single accessories, when it hit (and I was still F2P) most F2P would SELL the lockbox as it was worth 50k cr unboxed and could be worth 10k cr...

P2P pretty much flooded the market with accessories so that's why No P2P'er = no accessories

you had to be there to understand... I opened 1 lockbox and did not afterward due to the little chances to get something worthwhile... Unboxed they were worth 50k cr at first and stood at 20-10k cr for a long... long time

Edit: You know what we did as F2P to make money off that update? We were monitoring the AH and was buying 10k cr items to re-sell them 20-30-40-50k cr as the prices (during the first week) were unstable and people would buy anything they wanted for a good chunk of money... All of my friends did this...

And for the Cake event... you needed a pass to grind it and flood the market with shadow party hat and sprinkle aura... it's because of P2P'er

Is it strange that I imagine free to players running around nude all the time while pay to players shuffle along with their shins and wrists shackled singing prison tunes?

Strange for me, not the average carnivorous sheep.

While its true it doesnt make

While its true it doesnt make you better, it does give you a major advantage. (ASI-CTR reductions are a big deal in Lock Down).

Anyways, considering how that person acts, theyre probably "That guy" who spams Polaris in Chaos gear. Normally the only time i ever see people breaking 20k + is if they have a polaris equipped.

The game has to make money some how, and i can say this... I play ALOT of free to play games, ranging from Path of Exiles, to Team Fortress 2, and many other game and this company is pricing things incredibly CHEAP in comparison. These games both have larger communities yet are extremely expensive.

An example is for Path of Exiles, a general ONE TIME USE weapon particle effect will cost you roughly $15. Oh, they have an open "workshop" as well, but if you want to submit your content into the game itll cost you $1000, no joke, $1000 payment to get your item into the game.

The highest youll see on this game is like $99 but CE can be aquired through in-game means, in comparison with other games, alot of the complaining about the "pay" aspect of this game annoys me when it could be far worse as shown above.

Discriminating between F2P and P2P is stupid, people spend their money on things they enjoy. But its even more stupid when an F2P complains about a P2P, when technically the P2P is what is allowing the F2P to even play in the first place by keeping the game operable.

@ Icegill I've been here since July 2011, whether you've been here longer, gratz but that doesn't change it... F2P who has thousands of hours has *some* shiny... I don't think you're making any point here...

RNG is bound to RNG... I looted 2 imposto kits in boxes and got my book of dark ritual in less than 100 tokens... it's just random dude, F2P or P2P
