Okies, new fic for reasons of why I chose to stop Melancholy that are too obvious. I will write this one here, because sometimes Google Docs won't load for me and I'd hate to see the trouble of links you'd have to go through to read. Anyways, its about my character, Zero, which I've applied to KoV's side of the Spiral Conspiracy. Anyways, Prologue's next post, and I'll be posting chaps at least once, twice or thrice a week.

Prologue: Ablaze
[March 17]
I awoke, spring sunlight shining through my window. I got out of bed, took a bath, wore my clothes and ate breakfast. I was feeling great. Actually, I’ve never felt better. I bid my mother goodbye, and I went out.
The sight was beautiful.
Snipes roamed freely, enjoying the fresh spring air. I took a long breath, and skipped to my best friend’s house. It was just right beside mine, we usually talked at the middle of the night at the window.
I called out to her, “UNI!”
A head with a smile and blonde pigtails popped out of the window, and yelled back, “In a minute!” She went back in, and I sat on the nearby bench to wait.
This town... It looks like a fountain park now, unlike in the past. I tapped with my fingers the wooden arm of the bench, as a blue snipe plopped down on my lap. It nuzzled my tummy a bit, and I petted it in return. It nuzzled me more and I just sighed in relaxation. In fact, I was relaxing so much I didn’t see Uni at my face.
“Zeeeeeeroooooo!” she cried. It scared the snipe out of my lap and it flew away like... like a dove.
“What’d you do that for?” I asked.
“...Eh... Nothing. Hee-hee...” she giggled, twirling her pigtails.
“So. Where will we go today?” I asked.
“You choose. I chose yesterday,” she replied.
“Fine. Nightshade Forest?” I suggested.
“No way! That place is scary! You know that wolver almost attacked us!” she said. I sighed, and thought again.
“Uh... What else, what else... Oh! I know!” I said, and whispered something in Uni’s ear. She burst in excitement and yelled an “OKAY! MEET YOU THERE!” and skipped off.
I sighed again, and followed her to a small area a little back our houses. It was covered in trees, and no one could find us there, heh, it’s actually a large hollowed tree and adults can’t get in without finding the larger entrance. :”3

The day ended, with both me and Uni tired. We played knights, heroes and everything else. We went home for dinner, and went to bed at EXACTLY seven pm.
I yawned, and took out the lights of my room, and laid on my bed.
~
“ZERO!”
I woke up at my mother’s scream. I was shook awake, and she was in a fritz trying to get me out. I rubbed my eyes and looked around, and saw the cause of her panic.
Our house was ablaze.
She carried me outside, where all our neighbors are gathered. I looked for my father, but he was nowhere to be found, and my mother pushed through the door and looked for him.
Several minutes had passed, and I saw a shadow run into the Nightshade Forest. I paid it no attention, although it went away quickly, which meant escape. I knew then, what happened to my parents.
I fell onto my knees, tears trickling onto the ground. A hand patted my shoulder, it was Uni. Knowing it was comfort or pity, I didn’t, all I wanted to do was take revenge. Dazed by anger and confusion, I fell unconscious to the ground, with the memory of that shadow.
~
I groaned at the feel of a cold miracloth touching my forehead. I awoke with a jolt, and the memory of the night before. I stood up, and a hand forced me back into the bed. An older woman than dad, and his sister, my auntie.
“Now, now. Don’t get too worked up,” she said.
“B-but!...” I protested.
“Ssh... Calm down, first,” she began.
She told me the entire story, the truth, and continued to take care of me. After I had grown up to be eighteen, I personally went to Haven, alone, to get my revenge. Before I left, though, my auntie gave me something that I will always treasure, a supposed gift from my mother when I was to be this age, a pair of solid blue headphones, with an MP3 player, too.
I bid her goodbye, slung my backpack over one shoulder, and followed the forest paths into the town of Haven.
