Please restrict discussion of battle sprites and other features to the feedback thread. Thank you.

Wah! Everyone is trying to update the preview server at the same time!

"Equipment Limits"
"New Items"
Hahahah, OOO have too much money? Ha ha ha hah.

I have 5 star stuff in a 3-4 star area..........

"In conjunction with this change, and after much debate, we are removing health sharing revives."
-There were debates to begin with? Someone elaborate on this to me.
Right now.
"Our observations show that health sharing to revive downed party members ends up being detrimental to teams working to complete levels; diluting overall team health to the point of team members being repeatedly one-shotted in combat."
-How is that not remotely normal? The bread and butter of progressing in Spiral Knights is to learn and manage to take hits and fall down less than you used to. When your health is low, it commonly adds tension to the situation you are in. It makes you more conscious and alert of threats, so you can stand up against odds and continue on. Why do you think there are people who purposely run levels with low-level armors to hone their survival skills and be able to complete levels faster?
Plus the ability to share health for reviving has always been a viable and flexible alternative to spending energy until you actually have to use energy when the situation turn dires. It's not detrimental if the useage of energy for reviving that was intended from the beginning is saved for such emergencies, it's certainly not as detrimental as the cost of Energy doubling each time you revive yourself. Why is getting rid of it even a thing?
Does this nonsense have to do with getting rid of Vitapod dropping? Was that detrimental to OOO as well? This is getting absolutely ridiculous. I want more information and thoughts about this. I do not want this kind of change, I highly doubt a lot of people want it either.

"We have also changed the way that loot is distributed. Loot will now be individually distributed to all players and never randomly assigned or split. Each player sees only their own loot on each level and must collect or ignore each piece. This includes vitapods.
This change means that there are zero reasons to NOT party with others. You’ll get the same amount of loot regardless of party size."
To be honest, I see zero reasons to play in a party instead of solo.
Does that means that I have to enter every single room in Charred Court to get all drops? What's the point of a party now if I have to waste time looking for all loot?
Also, does heat and crowns are considered loot? Because they dissapear after a minute or so. Will we have to do all rooms together?

AS THE FOLLOWING IS ME GUESSING ON INTENTIONS FOR THINGS AND SHARING OPINIONS, I DECIDED TO PLACE IT HERE INSTEAD OF THE FEEDBACK THREAD AS I'M NOT A TESTER.
SPRITES
I can't make any assumptions here from the test update post, other than their probably awesome and made to give more things to do.
ORBS OF ALCHEMY
If executed correctly, will not change the crafting price but will allow "discount crafting" by finding (should be as rare as a true love pendant, or something close) and kill craft alts. As one without an alt, I agree with this.
SPARKS OF LIFE
Not exactly sure WHY they did this, other than lore I guess. Just make drops rare.
EMERGENCY REVIVE
I dislike this as it may make things too easy, but its fine as long as "hard mode" is very hard.
REMOVAL OF HEALTH SHARING
I found that a "diminishing health" thing minor problem too, but now there is no "free reviving".
DIFFICULTY
Make the lowest difficulty have lower payout than current and be the same difficulty and I like it. But I also hope there is an AI buff in there too. Also, can I say I thought about this months ago but didn't post it? Because I did.
LOOT
Tedious, but EVERYONE GETS THE EQUIPMENT DROPS! Just make money not disappear.
EQUIPMENT LIMITS
Just stops people who give 5* to newbs. but no one really does that. Oh, and slight annoyance if you get a high level equip drop, but who complains there.
ALL IN ALL
Seems good, might screw some millionaires' craft alts, but they should be set in stone. None of these seem like major money-grabs (other than maybe sprites). Some changes might take a while to get used to, but if you guys do well on balancing these things, then it should be a 8/10 update. if not, a 6/10.

Now missions / arcade will take longer.
I also see an impulse for arcade (somehow).
I think everybody will lose many friends...

As a non-tester, and following the format that Dmatter analyzed everything...
Sprites: Nothing for me to say at the moment until I experience them myself.
Orbs of Alchemy: I cannot say much about this either until I experience it myself, but I do question the drop rate of them.
Sparks of Life: Same as Orbs of Alchemy.
Emergency Revive: I'm neutral on this. I guess this is to counteract the removal of health shares just a bit.
Removal of Health Share Revives: No free revival huh? Well, at least I don't need to hear people keep shouting "rez please" because they don't want to spend their own whatever to revive, which reduces me to 1 HP just because they're are dying and wanted to revive. As for people who depends on people to carry them through stages and dies constantly, it's now time to learn to avoid dying as often or pay the price. It's obvious that the HP is getting wasted, if one person constantly dies and requires another person to help them revive-and for free too.
Difficulty Modes: I'm fine with this.
Loot Distribution: I'm fine with this. Although I want the collecting of coins and heat to still stay the way they were. Only the items needs to be independent.
Equipment Limit: Hmm... Not much to say except too bad for some people out there.
Overall: Until I experience the changes myself, I'm overall neutral on these changes.

I really love the no more reviving part. And making players earn their gear more is much better, too. I'd even say take it to the next step and do not allow unbinding of 4* and 5* gear anymore.

"Our observations show that health sharing to revive downed party members ends up being detrimental to teams working to complete levels; diluting overall team health to the point of team members being repeatedly one-shotted in combat."
Somewhat true... though I am pretty sure they just don't want people giving heat anymore.
Unsure what I think about the way loot will be handled now but everything else looks good.

Does this nonsense have to do with getting rid of Vitapod dropping?
I emailed them with a question about the Vitapod dropping thing. They said it was very devastating to noobs who dropped them accidentally.
About hard mode, let me put it in perspective:
In the hardest setting, I found the Snarbolax mission to be difficult in COBALT gear and a Maskeraith wearing a Piercing harness and using a Beast low quirk. How or why it was heard, I won't tell you. I have yet to try the other bosses, but a shudder to think of Vana...I already find that hard! GFWAAAA...
EDIT: okay fine. Chromas have a very odd little attack that completely caught me off guard. Things move faster, have more HP, and deal a ton of damage. With full Cobalt, I was going to die in 3 hits.
+1 to automated item collection. This way parties are viable.

The thing about how we have to go and actually pick up every. single. crown. is probably going to kill random parties.... I way do no trust a bunch of random players to wait for me so that I can get their loot, and I know for a fact that if randoms can't keep up with me, are going AFK all over the place, that I'm not going to wait for them more than half a second.

I think the pick-up-your-own-item mechanism is to discourage alt dragging. They probably took it too far. However, in a way this will also contribute to lowering CE prices.
Level difficulty sounds great. Three levels should still retain the ease of finding an RJP party. Also, will higher difficulty increase the chance of item drops? That darkfang shield...
Are Orbs of Alchemy purchasable through the Supply Depot? If so, will the total cost of OoAs needed to craft be approximately the same cost of crafting with CE?
Sprites sound good as of now. I wouldn't modify the cooldown because they can't be too powerful to use.
Replacing health/energy revs with the emergency revive and SoLs sounds pretty good as of now. I think I'll like this update.
TL;DR seems half-focused on discouraging alts and alt techniques (alt dragging, alt revving, alt farming, etc.) and a quarter focused on CE price dropping with another quarter for the BS. Sounds good.

Are you actually looking for feedback, or you are just going to ignore them like with the new UI?

Apprentices who were here in beta that have five star equipment are going to act like this towards the equipment limit.

"I emailed them with a question about the Vitapod dropping thing. They said it was very devastating to noobs who dropped them accidentally."
Bloody hell, that's their problem. It's invariably and essentially something you'd actually have to try to make it a mistake, you'd think they'd know how to handle a Vitapod after a few runs through the Clockwork.
Jeebus, come on guys. How did we allow this sort of dropping to happen? That's just poor catering.

Man the back-lash is intense... I really hope they don't implement a lot of these changes...
As someone who's been on the preview server... I REALLY hope a lot of these changes don't happen. They range from confusing to outright irritating.

So far it's really agitated anticipation. The real backlash would happen on release of the changes on account of the changes restricting the gameplay on a massive scale. I absolutely stress my wish on that not happening, because this will seriously have greater impact than the UI for the best or the worst.

Wait... I'm Knight Rank, and now I'm not able to wear my ONLY armor set because of my RANK???
I DEMAND PROTEST... and a free run to Vandguard.

Will this update add anything new toward people's rank? Like the honor blade and shield?

I don't wanna talk too much about this since I'm not testing the content, but a lot of things on this "changelog" seems pretty awful, kinda like an extreme DRM that does more bad things to the legit players than to the ones they wanna punish... I really hope that I'm wrong about this and that you guys will take the testing feedback in consideration this time, as this is the last chance I'm giving to my hopes on this game.
Having to pick up all drops yourself...can't imagine that change will last. For linear levels it won't be too much of a nuisance, but for those like D25 FSC?
Everything else sounds amazing though. There is the issue of vets who haven't bothered doing the missions, but there are many ways to fix that, so I'm not worried.
I especially like the new Spark of Life mechanic. Suiciding to give health was always lame: will be glad to see that go. And while I'm not entirely against the using health to rev mechanic, I can see a lot more bad in it than good. The game should allow players to carry other players, but it shouldn't force them to.
Having to res party members at least once EVERY time a monster shows up is super lame, but for T3 players who venture outside of FSC, it is a fairly common occurrence. Especially in places like OCH and The Gauntlet. Which is a shame. Because that is some good content.

While we are giving such "valuable and great suggestions" why don't I suggest the devs to just go ahead and hit the delete button on SK.. do us all a favor.. -.-
And now that I read Mawashimono's comment again, I bet she has the same feelings as me and is making a sarcastic comment.
(I would suggest for the same as Mawashimono, no more unbinding, no more trading, NO MORE AH in the future updates PLOX)

Eh he heh....
Keep in mind that level limit is something many other games have... (Of course, I'm worried...this is becoming a bit like other games now!) I honestly think that for veterans who haven't played missions, they will probably do something in their favor. On the other hand...they've been spicing up the missions, or at least have plans to?
I'm going to sit down and cry,
though this update isn't really
something I find all that silly.
Maybe it's because the community's reaction went through the sky?
(Screw my silly poetry I'm sorry you had to read that...)
It's a mixed blessing I guess...honestly I don't have a problem with many of the things people are upset about. (except the energy-less reviving getting removed and the new "get your own loot" stuff.)

If I understand this correctly, sharing heat will be ruined. WHY?!
While not entirely related, can someone explain why sharing heat is at all useful? I have never understood this. It doesn't take that long to heat normally and unless you craft exclusively with CE you've purchased with real money, you can get enough heat to fully level a 5* item long before you grind enough crowns to craft another one...so what's the rush?

Rather than look at the negatives; you need to applaud their effort at the least.
Fundamentally, the developers for Spiral Knights are composed of a small staff. At which point, any plans that are placed into action cannot be easily changed without instilling some sort of negative disbursement in contrast to themselves and their work. Naturally, you'd expect some sort of potential resolution to fix such a situation. Even so, all these inherent constancies are contradicted omnipresently.
They have to manage between what they're capable of, given what is expect of them from those of whom administer their undertakings, while under pressure from the gaming community of which they deliver toward. With this, attempts at meeting demands for some inevitably lead to rants from others.
Not everyone will be satisfied.
As I personally see it;
They are trying to incorporate value over heat amplifiers.
They are trying to answer concerns over missions and arcade.
They are trying to incorporate a new revive system that's far simplier.
They are attempting to provide players with the chance to earn some potential revives or craftable reserves through their gameplay.
They are struggling to meet the demands that an impartial part of the community has with the game content without causing further demands.
They are trying to change/add more into the game at the least.
Given how time consuming coding is, changes can't be easily made in these later stages. And they only release information regarding the subsequential stages of development due to the expectations that the community has on them. This, in itself, is a great contradiction o3o
Course, All of this is just my personal opinion and thoughts written late at night out of boredom and interest.
Take it as you may; I intend no offense in any potential way possible.
Raptor'z

Whats the rush? the vet players have played this dang game too long, grinded fsc too long to bring sub-optimal gear (gear for heating) to fsc. We like to do it asap, we divy up the work intuitively to get the dang fsc over with for "quick" cr.. So, we do not like to take 5 fsc runs with a 4* faust.. rather bring glacius/AP/shiver/blitz or whatever suits u.
Having everyone pick up their own loot, not being able to rev/heat with friends is RIDICULOUS.

I really have no idea how I feel in regards to this update. It just gives me a feeling of "I benefit from this, but the game just seems so different now." Battle Sprites, SoL's (we're going to have to adopt acronyms sooner or later), AO's (alchemy orbs because OoA is strange) and the new loot system just makes me feel weird.
The one change that bugs me the most is that the ability to revive a fallen player by splitting health. I always thought that it was a really nice mechanic of SK that really made you appreciate you party members more.
The updates aren't bad, but the new mechanics are throwing me off. The economy is definitely going to change now and I am nervous.
Question about the new loot system though:
I kill monster A, it see that it drops material B. Will other knights be able to see and pickup material B or is it only available for me to pickup?
---
I can see that the Dev's have the players in mind though. As always, thanks for the hard work.

Your question is answered in the original post itself.. read pls.

This change means that there are zero reasons to NOT party with others. You’ll get the same amount of loot regardless of party size
If the money distribution is unchanged, then the first sentence won't be as wrong, but it'd still be wrong: going solo allows the player to get every single piece of loot anyway, and probably easier, too.
Anyway, about the stuff that was kept in the dark:
New Items: So long as the Orbs don't change Alchemy costs, then I'm assuming everything will be okay. I can't say much about them though, and I'm quite skeptical of this. As for the Sparks...
In conjunction with this change, and after much debate, we are removing health sharing revives. Our observations show that health sharing to revive downed party members ends up being detrimental to teams working to complete levels; diluting overall team health to the point of team members being repeatedly one-shotted in combat.
Well, fair enough. I don't know how I feel about this, but I think it might work.
Difficulty Modes and Loot Distribution: For the former, thank you! I'm sick of people whinging about the freaking difficulty. For the latter... I still don't have a reason to play in parties, except for when a level is too hard, and even then I've had problems finding anyone to play with (except for FSC). Thankfully I don't have to do any of that now, but... I think, if we have to pick up our own monies individually, then people would have the ultimate reason not to go in parties.
Equipment Limits: So long as I can use my Venom Striker 'gainst the RJ, then I have no complaints.
Summary: I'm generally okay/skeptical about this update, but the possibility of the Crown drop being messed up might do the game in.

>"If executed correctly, will not change the crafting price but will allow "discount crafting" by finding (should be as rare as a true love pendant, or something close) and kill craft alts."
First: What the hell point is of adding looting it, if only few persons will get it? lol. If one will loot per 60 dungeons, not 600 will be good.
Second: Kill craft alts? Let me remind you, that large part of payment goes on craft alts. By that update OOO shooted yourselfs in a foot. Killing craft alts will be headshot.

Buahahahahaha
Its funny how they put such important notice about extreme gamechanging changes in "test server" area. Because of that, they will now remove every topic outside test server forum that will discuss those changes so less people know about it before it happens.
Because all of us know, that after OOO already does something, they stop paying attention to arguments, reasons and petitions, no matter how many players will be against that change.

Thats nothing new.
I just wonder... how long it will last. When they will wake up? When all players will gone?
Too much awesome for me to handle.
