Boss Run

There should be a boss run gamemode where one can play through a bunch of bosses consecutively. You get 3 pills, 3 remedies, and two sets of three vials of your choice. Since most of the boss music is the same, the background music for each boss battle will be changed so you don't get bored of the same BGM playing for the entire boss run. You only have a certain amount of time for each phase of a boss. If you beat the boss before the phase time limit is over, you'll automatically get crowns. If you can't beat the phase in time, the boss automatically moves on to the next phase, and you don't get any crowns for that phase. If you don't get damaged at all during a successful phase, you'll get a large crown bonus.
You may only revive three times through the whole run. Revives are free, but reviving causes you to lose all the crowns you've earned thus far and gives you all your pills, remedies and vials back. If you choose not to revive, the run will end and you'll keep whatever crowns you've earned.
Between battles you don't heal: You pretty much have to go through all the bosses on the one life, although occaisionally after a phase is beaten, health pills, remedies and vials may drop.

First up you face Snarbolax, of course. This music plays in the background. Snarbolax actually has three phases (when you damage Snarby enough during one phase, he'll automatically Defense Up)
As soon as the Snarbolax's body disappears, your knight will say something cheesy like "The only thing you're eating tonight is my sword" and then the screen will fade to black showing your score and time. A "continue" button appears, and pressing it starts the next battle.

To mix things up a bit, you'll then face the Ice Queen. The music changes to this. To make things a little fairer, the Ice Queen won't have as much health. When she's beaten, your knight will say something like "It's getting a little chilly in here"

Next, you'll face the RRT (Rainbow Roarmulous Twins) and the music will be this. They're pretty much the regular Red Roarmulous Twins, but all their bullets shoot in all different colours of the rainbow.

Now, for some cruel reason, the Bosses start getting exponentially harder. You'll face Margrel to this music, but Margrel fires 4 times as many bullets, and they'll set you on fire if they touch you.

Then you'll face Seerus to this music. The difference is that there are Ghostmane Stalkers on the level spamming sawblades. Seerus has also invented a machine that can freeze time temporarily (allowing the Ghostmanes to throw a couple slow moving sawblades that you'll just be given a very short time to dodge)
Players without the expansion can still play this boss, it'll be kind of a "reward" for getting this far.

Finally, You'll face Vanaduke. The only difference is Vanaduke's mask will always fire those shadowy-red bullets, even when it's attached to his body, and this music will be playing.

So do the rainbow bullets cause a random status (curse+stun+sleep) or is it still shock-only?

BTW, this should be obvious, instead of the multiple tiny lasers, they MUST shoot Master Sparks.

(I've been watching a lot of After-Hours recently so every question I hear is in like, a Katie Willert or a Michael Swaim voice)
Oh right. Uh. I dunno. How fair is it to add a status to bullets randomly being fired randomly in random directions from random sources which may or may not be a random attempt to obscurely but randomly hit you? (Did I mention that RRT's last two phases are random and annoying?)

BTW, this should be obvious, instead of the multiple tiny lasers, they MUST shoot Master Sparks.

No, not Roarmulous and Thievus.
I tried to make this match up as best I could, I probably could have used another game as the cross-reference but I haven't played the others as much as I've played this one and less people would get the reference if I did.

You said 'a boss run gamemode

You said 'a boss run gamemode where one can play through a bunch of bosses consecutively.' so I'm assuming that players can only do this alone... but wouldn't this be easier if you could do it in a party?

In my opinion, this would be best put in the coliseum where random players would do this together. I think so because then elite players couldn't group together and constantly do this or abuse this or whatever its called. :I

The music sounds so Retro! A little too retro for the game infact, but then again something new is always nice. :O

SK logic, if it has a color, it has a status. You can't make rainbows without statuses, ponies or ordinary magicians.

Somehow this just became a semi-serious suggestion

@Fallen-Night
but wouldn't this be easier if you could do it in a party?

Maybe. That gives me another idea. What if two players race eachother through the levels? Everytime one player completes a boss phase, maybe the boss in the other player's level does a special attack to make it difficult? If one player dies and has to revive three times, the other player wins? :P

Fair enough. There'll be Fire, Stun, Poison, Freeze and Curse bullets. (Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple)

Dat Vanaduke music. Anyway,

Dat Vanaduke music.
Anyway, the music is a little too retro in my opinion, but other than that, I like the concept.
And is Margrel the SL Vana?

no echo, magrel is the boss from moorcroft, you need the book of dark rituals to access it.

Ah, so you like "Sceptre of a Dead King".

Too retro though?
What about something more Orchestral? If you want to modernize it a bit, a Techno Classic tune could work. Or maybe even Metal?

So....

Do you need a key to enter?
(This reminds me a lot of Henir's Time and Space from Elsword)

But of course the Vanaduke fight would have her theme...

Honestly, I'd say we need a boss rush type challenge for the people who have played a lot and think they could take it on.
But hey, don't forget the Battlepod from Ghosts in the Machine. Whether you consider him a boss or mini-boss, he's still quite formidable for even experienced players if you don't know what you're doing.

And on that note, we should get the regular boss Tokens for doing this (To be a little more fair, you'd need to beat Vana to get the tokens, and you'd only get a low amount of Tokens per boss, while not getting any for Margel. They'd also work like your Crowns, so any deaths means that you lose all the previous tokens. So in essence, you'd normally only get Almirian Seals assuming you don't have a deathless run).

Just my thoughts on it.

And as a side note, am I the only one who thinks the second mask form of Vanaduke is just an easier version of Touhou?

Nope.
But the mask phases are broken for me, I live in Australia so I get hit left, right and centre. If there was an Oceanic server, I'd be kicking ass all over the place. (So many years experience with predicting enemy's moves, once I get out of this hyperbolic chamber, I'll be SUPER KNIGHTIAN)

Oh man, when I said easier I meant like... A LOT easier.

That'd suck, I can barely take the mask phases already from lag.

But otherwise, what about if you beat the arena without any deaths you can simply replay the harder bosses that it holds as many times as you like, but you get no reward from it?

I like where you're going with that :P

I like where you are going with all this. The only real problem I have is the difficulty and the music. The difficulty seems a little bit too difficult, and only the better Spiral Knight players would be able to complete it, and only the even better could get the 'large crown bonuses'. The music seems... to not fit the 'theme' that spiral knights has going for it.

Heh, too difficult? This gamemode isn't intended for everyone. There are some darn good players out there. No matter how lunatic a difficulty, there'll be people out there that'll strive to beat it.

@Echo-Twothree
Yeah, Thievus steals my life during long nights. Then I got nothing to fall back on when the bullets start curving >.<
Let me know if Udon' get it.

OMG, totally injecting those puns into my everyday forum speech. Umad apple?
