Dual Wielding

Dual wielding has been a largely talked about idea for a long time. Despite how "cool" it would be to have two weapons, it has been rejected many times because of the unfair advantages that it gives players and the chaos that it would bring to the way this game works. I just doesn't make sense how it can fit into a games like this one. However, while a knight holding two separate weapons (example, a Flourish and a Cold Snap) wouldn't make any sense, combining two very similar 4* weapons together (example, Blazebrand and a Blizzbrand) could permanently create a single 5* weapon. Weapons would have the same attack power as the 4* weapon so not to be too strong. Weapon combinations will be explained below. I also decided that dual bombs didn't seem to really work in any way so there is not a segment on bombs.

Swords:
Remember that what is being created is a entirely new sword. Just because two swords got combined does not mean that they should get double attack speed or double attack power. My suggestion would be that average speed swords (such as Brandish and Calibur lines) just attack a little faster and get 2 more attacks to the combo. Dual Caliburs charge attack is a 360 spin with more reach. Different Brandish (example, Blazebrand and Blizzbrand) charge attacks should be 4 lined-up, large explosions that alternate in effects (example, fire, ice, fire, ice). Same brandish (example, Dual Boltbrands) charge attacks would be 2 columns of 4 explosions. The Dual Flourish/Dark Thorn Blade combos would be the same, just with faster execution. The charge attack would be on long stab forward with both swords. Thee Dark Thorn blade charge would be a 2 slashes (one with each sword) with each slash followed by a phantasmal image of the Snarbolax biting. Here is a list of sword combinations that would work.

Guns:
Dual gun are a little less complicated then dual swords. Basically dual guns will be shot by alternating between both guns until both are out of bullets and are reloaded together. Dual guns would give lose having a charge attack altogether, instead holding down the attack button will just make you fire as fast as you can. A single press with just make you gun shoot once. Also gun will become about 10 to 20% weaker per shot depending on what the spiralknights staff decides if they take this idea.

When creating the dual weapon is created the 2 original ones will be destroyed. This process should be very hard and expensive so that dual wielding is limited to only people who are will to do the hard work or purchase energy. It should require both combined weapons to be level 10 and at least double the amount of alchemy orbs it takes to create a normal weapon. A dual weapon upgrade that expires in 30 days should also be required to wield any dual weapon of any kind. Wielding a dual weapon will cause your shield to get replaced by a weapon and you have to switch to another weapon to use your shield.

This has been created with balance in mind. Seems alright. Although I'm not sure about the dual wield weapon upgrade, seems just like unnecessary cost.
Also, double the orbs? This idea is already pretty balanced and a 4 star weapon is being deleted in order to craft this weapon, so I think just 3 orbs is fine.

I love how you've skipped over certain weapons like The Avenger, Faust, Khovorod etc since they'd be kind of ridiculous. But what about Strikers?

Damage difference between a 4* weapon and a 5* weapon is really low outside the deepest depths of stratum 6, so the dual weapons would still be blatantly better in stratums 1-5, as well as possibly Lockdown. (Depth 25)

Still, you wouldn't be able to shield-cancel with them so that's something.

Yeah, anytime you attack you have an inescapable recovery period. That in itself balances the damage. Attacks would have to be well planned or you'll end up dead

Okay

Although I don't see the logic in having guns decrease in damage when dueling. I know the practical reason is for balance, but in theory, that seriously makes no sense.

Although it seems that you were smart enough not to put duel autogun or pulsar series. /clap

Though... since you have two weapons, the only use of this is charged attacks unless you implement:

Right click: Instead of shielding, you attack with your second weapon allowing you to create your own "combination."

Example: Caliber + Nightblade

Caliber hit, Caliber hit, Night blade hit, Night blade hit, Caliber hit finishing move.

This allows you to have a longer well thought out way to fight. The combination would leave the enemies weak and tragic.

Either way, Nice idea.

- The thing about guns is that some guns are only used for their charge attacks. this sort of system would work well with a guns like the pulsar, but a gun like the magnus would be utterly useless because it's mainly used for its charge attack. And it's charge attacks is way more useful then its normal 2 shot bullet attacks. So that needs to be somehow balanced.

- Hmm, so is this a trinket? Cause i almost misread that thinking our weapon would expire. So this is basically like an extra weapon slot trinket?

Well if that is the the base of this idea, i disagree. If we already went to the trouble to make (2) 5 or 4 star weapons and spending more money to make it a dual weapon, then i don't think we need another constant money drain just to be able to use an existing gameplay style. It makes it feel like dual wielding is more special or above normal players who do not dual wield. Let dual wield be just like any other weapon where once the player makes it, they can use it as much as they like without limitation.

Also is there a way a dual wield weapon can star at 2 star and rise up to 5 star through an upgrade line?
