So... People keep saying that old AIs can aim while attacking and stuff, and the "nerfpocalypse" prevent them from doing so. Out of boredom, I decided to do some tests on some enemies and their aiming, and decided to make a list of their aiming habits for all of you.

Enemies that don't aim once they start their attack
-Most of the Beast Family, Dust Bunny being the only exception currently.
-Zombies
-Lumbers
-Trojans
-Gremlin Knockers and Gremlin Scorchers
-Scarabs (or so I remember)
-Bombies (they can't anyways, since they just try to explode near you)
-Scuttlebots
-Retrodes
-Kats (Initial Rush)
-Deadnaughts (I think, didn't do too many runs containing these)

Enemies that can aim at you as long as they can see you
-Turret Monsters (T3 Gun Puppies, T3 Howliters and Red Rovers stop once they actually attack)
-Kats (when they actually attack)
-Devilites (Overtimer when using their range attack, but not melee)
-Greavers
-Gremlin Demos (or so I remember when their throw their bombs at you, not entirely sure)
-Glop Drops (sorta)
-Gorgos (if I recall correctly)
-Grimalkins (though not really)

Enemies that only aim as long as you're close enough to them so that they may actually hit you if they aim
-Basically the ENTIRE Slime family (any that doesn't do this will aim at you as long as they can see you, being Glop Drops and Polyps)
-Mecha Knights (slashing combo, their charge attack would be as long as they can see you, but they stop aiming once they release the attack anyways)
-Phantoms (slashing combo, their charge attack would be as long as they can see you, but they stop aiming once they release the attack anyways)
-Dust Bunnies
-Overtimers using their melee attack

Enemies that can shift their aim mid-combo in between strikes
-Gremlin Thwackers (are able to shift their aim towards you in the middle of their two hit combo)
-Mecha Knights (maybe if you're close enough, untested)
-Phantoms (maybe if you're close enough, untested for this)
-Gorgos

Enemies that don't aim at all even before they attack
-Wheel Launchers
-Wisps
-Shankles
-Lichens doing their spin attack (Toxigels, Toxilargos, Lichen Colonies, etc), Shocked Quicksilvers
NOTE: Lichen Colonies might not be the case, and Shocked Quicksilvers may overall move towards your direction.
-Battlepods, save for those missiles they launch into that sky that tries to fall on you

Enemies that aim at other enemies for whatever
-Silkwings
-Gremlin Menders
-Pit Bosses

So... any comments, fixes or suggestions on my waste of time? Also, the Slime family must be a sad family in the past.

hush draggies. i creep in.

That what ye do can be only helpful for many perspect of other people who are inexperienced about monsters. It is not a waste of time.

The question is, are ye discussing or guiding?

In the past?

Slimes were sad because they were just treasure boxes on wheels. Then they got spikes. This is the ONLY balance change I ever approved of.

Kats can't re-aim their initial rush towards you, but they get a 2nd chance to aim with their bite/bullet attack. So if you wait for them to be mid rush, you can walk away. If you hang out where they'll be, then you'll get bitten/shot at.

Awwww the memories...

The enemy that got nerfed the most was the alpha wolver. They used to aim like mecha knights.
That ability, the 3 quick lunges attack, and teleporting made both shielding and running away difficult.

Now they're a total joke.

Are you sure about spinning lichens? I'm fairly certain I always get hit by a spike unless I strafe. One spike will be aimed at every knight they can see, then there are additional, randomized spikes in the case of the lichen colonies.

I'm also pretty certain that shocked Quicksilvers do have some kind of weird aiming system. To try this out, go to the second floor of the Roarmulus Twins with Maskeraith's invisibility, turn it on when you hit the three buttons near the start, and see how many Quicksilvers come close to hitting you. Then try again without.

I've tried this out. I think that, when shocked, they move in a fairly random pattern which is more likely than not to go, overall, in your direction. Also, they never Shock themselves if they're within a certain range of you - stand next to a Quicksilver and it'll only try to tackle you.

Is this true, or am I just inventing it? Try it out.

Zeddy is correct.

What Zeddy said about Lichens spinning is true. Atleast one spike will be aimed at your location if you stand still. It's hard to tell due to people usually moving and the large quantity of the spikes.

Huh...

@Zeddy/Shadowgreyleader - Lichen Colonies can aim it, huh? Gonna test it out then. I'm pretty sure Toxigels can't though, since I stood there in the same spot while one spammed the spin attack about 3 times and none of them even got close to me.
@Raisinfist - I use a drakon, so I can't test that out yet, unless I get my second character good enough equipment and a high enough rank first. And it's true that they never shock themselves if you're very close to them. They only try to tackle you.
@Thunderbog - Both, I guess.
@Fehzor - Alright then.

Thanks for the info guys.

I don't think Slimes (or at

I don't think Slimes (or at least Jelly Cubes) aim so much as their hitboxes have a wide sweep. Someone willing to dig into the .jar files is free to prove me wrong though.

@Warp-Master

I ran tests for them. I ran behind a jelly cube after it started its attack and then it went backwards and body slammed me. You gotta be close enough to slimes for them to aim at you-as stated, in range so that they have a chance of hitting you when they aim. The moment you step out of that radius for slimes, they stop bothering to aim midway as if they know they'll miss anyways. It's why they don't seem to aim, but I've had to either back off or stay a certain distance from jelly cubes to avoid their body slam.
The problem with lichens in exception to the large ones, their range is so small it would barely hit you anyways, so it almost never seems like they'll aim. But when I ran tests by standing close to a lichen for it to tackle me, it basically always rotated towards me to attack.
