The year is 2987 AD. It's been a full century since the Isorans first made contact with the Clockworks, and the battle between the Spiral Order and their new enemies has been raging on for far too long. With scant supplies and a dwindling amount of soldiers, the Isorans have been pushed back to the stronghold of Haven. Desperate and with nowhere to go, they built gargantuan walls to guard against their goes, and have lived in peace for the 30 years that the walls have been up. That's all about to change...
The Gremlins have pushed forward and emerged from the Clockworks, bent on destroying the Isorans. They seem to have created entirely new life forms, constructs, and weapons, including monstrously enormous humanoid beasts called the Titans, along with mobile Roarmulus units, advanced arms that easily put the Order's best gear to shame, and many more unknown terrors. The other inhabitants of the Clockworks seem content with their current habitats, and as such, the Gremlins, along with their creations, are the Isoran's only enemy.
Trapped within Haven and running out of food, soldiers, and most importantly, time, the Isorans must fight back.
Your story begins in the year 2987, and you are just another citizen, aspiring to join the Order's armed forces. Motives vary, and yours are known only to yourself. You have trained for several years in boot camp, and today is the day you choose which force of the military you wish to join.
The first and most popular choice is the stationary guard, the Barracks. Should you choose this section, you will be posted on top of the walls, wielding Tungsten Cannons, Crystal Energy Assault rifles, powerful mineral-charged sidearms, and sniper rifles that utilize ancient, yet still devastatingly effective relics of war; the traditional bullet, along with a whole plethora of other weapons and turrets. Your job is to destroy all hostiles that approach the walls, thereby protecting the people inside.
The second choice is the Military Police. You are the everyday law enforcement units, charged with directing the flow of travel and trade, enforcing the law of the Order, and overall keeping general peace in the city of Haven. Only the best are allowed join this unit, and since the Military police force is safe within the walls along with the other citizens, those best suited to fight against the beasts at Haven's front steps are often the ones that end up not fighting at all. Most trainees only join the military so that they can get into this unit, as the Police receive lavish pay, government benefits, and frequently attend fancy banquets.
The last branch is known as the Assault Corps. Trainees who join this unit are tasked with leading the attack on the Gremlins and their monstrosities, along with reclamation of territory outside of Haven's walls. Not many join the corps, as it is the most dangerous branch of the military. In the year 2986, over 40 % of the Corps was wiped out due to a failed attack on a Gremlin base. Since then, even less have joined the Corps. However, those who manage to survive past their first year in the corps are often far more experienced, skilled, and cunning in battle than any other soldier, and have a very high survival rate. Accomplishing this task is very hard, though. In fact, its nigh impossible. Think you can do it?
To recap, you have three choices. You can keep the peace and maintain order in Haven by joining the Military Police, (minor role) defend the walls as a member of the Garrison, (not that major, but still big role) or, should you have the courage, you can take the initiative and strike back at the Gremlins as an elite of the Assault Corps. Do you have what it takes to lead the in the attack on Cradle?

Notice: So, I've seen that new open-ended RP "Times Have Changed", and i decided i wanted to try something similar. Credit to Sintag for giving me the idea. Kudos to you, Sin. I also credit the creator of the manga and anime, Shingeki no Kyojin, which has made a large influence on this idea.
READ! YOUR 3DMG INFORMATION IS WITHIN THIS FILE!
Due to the ineffectiveness of orthodox Isoran weapons, the scientists at the Lab have developed an entirely new line of gear. The Three-Dimensional Maneuver Gear is state-of-the-art mobility equipment that will give you a life-saving edge against your foes. Be warned, however; not everyone has the natural skill needed to master the 3DMG. In fact, it's estimated that out of every hundred people, only one has enough talent to use the gear effectively. The inner mechanisms of the device are extremely complex, but we've included a brief description of most of its components.
The Body of the Device - Steel wire is stored inside the body of the gear. There are two axles inside, which revolve independently.
Operating Device - The functioning part of the operating device is a black box, which the technical department manages and improves in secrecy.
Body of the Compressed Gas Cylinder - Gas is compressed into the cylinder and injected.
Fan Section - Gas is blown directly into the fan to make it rotate. The pressure of the gas is regulated to manipulate the output.
Three-dimensional maneuver device training is a rigorous process that allows humans, which are limited to two-dimensional movements, to adapt to movement in the third dimension, just like a fish in the water or a hawk in the sky.
Great physical strength, particularly in the legs, coupled with spatial recognition abilites, as well as the mental strength to not waver in the midst of a panic, are crucial qualities needed to be able to master the 3DMG
One of the first things done after enlisting in training is the 3D Maneuver Gear aptitude evaluation. Those unable to remain upright are dismissed.
The 3D Maneuver Gear also serves as a scabbard for your Purgatory Blades, weapons forged from a combination of super-hardened Sun Silver and Shadow Steel. The twin swords are currently the most powerful melee weapons in the Order's arsenal, and put the once-legendary Final Flourish of old to shame. However, against the Gremlin's new creations, these swords are about as powerful as a Proto noob fighting Vanaduke, and as such, every trainee receives 10 extra swords to replace their old ones should they break in the midst of a battle.

RULES
No killing other OC's, you traitorous scum. You can team up with them, you can leave them to their fate, but you cannot directly kill anyone. If you do, a small bomb connected to your armor will explode and kill you. Why? To prevent insubordination, mostly. In addition, its a good way for the Order to take out Gremlins in a desperate situation. Suicide bombers do quite a bit of damage to Gremlin defenses. It's also a way for a soldier to make sure that even their last, dying breath won't be wasted.
BE CAREFUL. You really, truly, only have one life. However, you can have more than one character.
There are certain conditions and items that will resurrect you...But be wary, those are few, far between, and holding onto them, in an item's case, will make you a walking magnet for deadly situations. And Titans. Why? Because I said so.
SK rules do NOT apply, to a pretty big extent. No bottomless bullets (Reloading takes a little longer, so that there's a realistic feel), blades, armor, and other gear WILL break eventually, (although, like in Minecraft, you can repair them by merging them with the same kind of item. However, certain parts can help to restore your gear and make it as good as new.) bombs can't be respawned (sorry), and you WILL tire eventually (perhaps some 5hour energy? XD). You can still shield bash and use all those fancy moves. You can also dual wield (yes, that includes even bombs), so that's a plus.
As soon as you begin, you're given the basic gear setup of your selected military unit, along with a short paper in order to brief you on your objectives, survival necessities if you are posted in the Assault Corps, and high-tech artillery units such as sentry guns and other turrets if you are part of the Garrison, then sent to your post. Good luck soldier. Make those Gremlins bleed.
_______
Beginning
You bounce on the balls of your feet, shivering with excitement, as you watch Commander Tyro, leader of the legendary Assault Corps, take the stage. It's finally come. The day for you to pick a military squadron, and you're practically glowing with joy.
Tyro smiles warmly at you and your fellow trainees before a serious scowl spreads over his face. He solemnly begins, "You all know who I am, so there's no need for introduction. If you're wondering why I'm the only one of the commanders here, I'm sure you've heard of the recent assault on the Haven walls by the Gremlins and their abominations. Commanders Hanji and Takiza are busy fending off the attack, but my force has just recently returned to the city from a recent mission. We're tired and would only be a burden in the fight. So I'm right here, right now."
"I'm proud of all of you, trainees. You're another successful batch of brave, valiant soldiers. Many of you are eager to join the Military police or the Garrison, as soldiers of both have quite easy lives. But I'm here today to ask you to become a member of the Assault Corps."
You watch, somewhat intrigued, as Tyro continues, "Tell me, do you all truly wish to become complacent, to be confined to these cages that we call walls? I'm begging you all to join us. To fight. To bring this battle to the heart of the Gremlin's homeland. That is all."
With that, he steps off the stage, and a group of assistants begin handing out forms to fill out. You stare down at the sheet of paper, take out your pen, and start filling in the form.

Enjoy the RP, and I hope it gets somewhere!
Name: Evera Salama
Aliases: Eve, Gwen, Finder
Age: ~25+
Height: 1.7m/5'7"
Weight: 67.5kg/149lbs
Faction: Spiral Order, Assault Corps
Sprite: Drakon with Meteoric Firebolt, Backfire Barrier, Explosive Firestorm
Appearance
Arsenal: Leviathan-Valiance gunblade, Aegis, military Azure Guardian Armor
Specialization: stealth, speed, offense
Strengths: swordsmanship, acrobatics, quick-wittedness
Weaknesses: clueless bomber & bomber-killer, defensive combat
Biography: Evera has a very mysterious past. She appears to be very young, but her mannerisms and experiences suggest her to be much older. She joined the Spiral Order naught but a few months ago, and is already handling herself like a Vanguard. She doesn't talk much about her past, so her unusual skills will go unexplained in the near future.
Personality: She's not a very strong conversationalist, but her charm and wit kind of make up for it. In combat situations, she becomes deadly-serious and develops a slight streak of cruelty. She is passionate about her beliefs, and will not shrink from open debate on political or religious issues. Speaking of which, she is a very religious person, with a devout faith in God that, according to some, borders on the insane. To the extent that she is free to practice her faith, she is tolerant of opposing beliefs.
