God of Skype speaks out
OK welp, we got our answer people, they aren't going to unbind the binding of 4 and 5 star unless you yourself pay for it.
They didn't even address the increased crafting costs that are sure to inflate the ce market.
So here is how I see it.
AH=We really needed this and yet it nickles and dimes you, has huge listing fees, and a sales tax, it's a dirty crown sink if I ever saw one.
Binding of 4-5, welp you just ruined that for the players at the endgame
Increased cost of ce crafting-This is what I have the most problem with, you are alienating the new players with it.
I recommend
3*=150
4*=350
5*=500
As you can see there isn't that HUGE a gap between it. At current going market prices for ce/cr ration, THIS may seem like a good idea, the current ce alchemy costs, but I can assure you it won't be for long. Alienating your new players is BAD.
Decreased recipes costs well this would have been good, if the damn Alchemy costs wouldn't of been increased so fudging high to NULLIFY IT.
Way to shoot yourselves in the foot and DRASTICALLY upset your fanbase. You people raging, quitting, and boycotting. Good Job.
Yeah Magnus said all of that already.
Doesn't make it any less true though.
Mods keep 'cleaning' posts that tell people what OOO is actually doing. This kind of policy pretty much ensures I've got nothing good to say about OOO now. Good job, you went from favourite MMO to developer worse than Jagex.

In all honesty, I don't see anyone who actually disagrees that the crafting increase is a bad thing.
But let's get this straight, if we're talking about the changes the crafting increase has done, one isn't that it hurts new players. 1*-2* Crafts weren't touched at all, which are the primary equipment for new players, and even a decent amount of Tier 2. As was said before, it's the middle-powered people that got hurt the most. The saw the lost potential they have in upgrades compared to their earlier predecessors who already made the jump to Tier 3, while having a harder time to catch up to those T3 people.
The new players have no more difficulty to upgrade their wares, while the established players have expanded most of their line to ft many of their needs anyway.
Frankly, I would be okay with the crafting increases if it was in line with what GodofSkype's figures are. 800 CE for 5* is just too much. 500?, I can deal with it. I'm not HAPPY, but I can deal with it.
Volebamus, it hurts anyone who isn't in t3 yet. So that's middle-players now, and new-players now who might be middle-players later.
In response:
1. I will make any thread that I choose to make and don't be so sure people don't care about me, I get a lot of friends.
2. I like that range of CE, it gives obviously more profit to OOO which is why the increased in the first place and I can understand that but alienating your potential new customers with ridiculous prices is not the way to go about this.
3. They destroyed the UV market and the 4 and 5* market until we get the unbind shop, this has left the long supporting players, the BNP's and the endgamers very upset. Thus upsetting paying players, and I don't need to go into the reasons why that is bad, it should be obvious. Even so UV is probably totally dead.
4. That AH is not as good as it seems and only a fool would use it, in it's current state.
5. Those of you who are saying it's not so bad or it's fine, need to take in consideration the inflating prices of CE, CURRENTLY it's not that bad but if prices continue to inflate, and they will because of rishing alchemy costs and even cheaper recepies, then stuff's going to hit the fan pretty quick.
I am very well aware that Magnus has said what I said, but I was giving MY experiences with the state of things. I am also pretty much behind Magnus however I'm not boycotting. I just won't play as much as I used to because I have lost my drive with this patch. It's so bad....
I have spent $15 bucks on this game and I pretty much feel cheated, I can't imagine how the BNP's feel.
Eh, Skype, I have to disagree with you about the AH. It's not necessarily all that hot as a way to get rich, no, but it's *easy*. Before, if I had something to sell, I'd generally crank down the price a bit (because I want to play Spiral Knights, not Trade Chat) and then sit there hollering for a significant chunk of time before *maybe* lucking into a sale. Now, I set up a min price that assures that I'll get at least *some* profit, a buyout price that gives me a decent bit without being greedy, and set it for 48 hours. I can generally be assured that eventually the sale will go through (as long as I'm selling things that people want) and it takes a *lot* less effort. On the buy side, it's even better. It makes my gaming experience smoother and more enjoyable. Am I, then, a fool to use it?
Also, the UV market is fine - it just all migrated down to tier 2. Now people will buy the entry-rank UVs (with appropriate markups) and grow them themselves.
Also, new customers aren't going to care. If the crafting prices we see now were the ones that we'd all seen walking in teh door, ti really wouldn't have been a big deal. It's the pain of impact that people are mostly dealign with right now. It's not that the game is fundamentally bad in its new incarnation - it's just that we've taken losses (in a way) from where we were.
Finally, I can't help but notice that you're frothing a lot less these days. I suppose I owe you an apology (and, indeed, do apologize) for thinking (and speaking) so poorly of you before.
Why thank you Sirroco and yah I'm trying to uh 'be nice" as it were.
Might I propose this?
The extreme problems I am seeing here is that OOO wants to keep us from buying our way into the end game, however this doesn't effect me and actually made them more money then they thought.
They are hoping increased CE cost will lead to overall profit, OBVIOUSLY, and to think otherwise makes you a fool. However, it's too high and there is too much a gap which will lead to more problems and less profit.
I propose making mats more rare and in higher quantities, except for shards, lord knows they take enough lol, especially for uv crafting. I also don't think there is a issue with shards atm, they are extremely common and everywhere. However, if you do that return ce costs to their previous state.
If you don't I propose do the above I propose the following;
3*150
4*300
5*500
That should ensure increased profit, and more comfort among the player base, heck you could even make 5* 400 instead.
The AH needs fixed for MULTIPLE reasons that are already being taken care of in it's own thread.
I might not be in the best state to write this, (BARS if you catch my drift) but lets find out....
You have called me a fool before, and I agree with you for the most part. (on several accounts. :))
the only thing I have to say that is different from what you say is this:
the AH (Auction House) in my opinion (note the unstated but hopefully understood disclaimer here) changes the market from a Seller's Market to a Buyer's Market. Unfortunately, I haven't taken enough economic classes (or interest) to really understand this (beyond a gut instinct...)
In Trade Chat, people could literally charge whatever they wanted for any given product, and (as long as it wasn't overly outrageous) someone would buy it. there might be a lack of Philoso Feathers one day, so some silly individual might buy it for 15k instead of 10k or less. Only, of course, because there weren't any other (better) offers available when the desired product was demanded.
Now, with the AH, people can have an array of offers at disposal, that offer an array of price ranges... i.e. competition, a free market. no "set" markets, no expected cost.... whatever someone is able and willing to sell it for... and for whatever someone is able and willing to buy it for. Capitalism at its best, with no possibility of monopoly, all in one place. Ceteris Paribus, as my economics textbook is fond of reminding.... "All things staying the same".
they will allow unbinding of 4* and 5* equipment.... which i believe is reasonable.... Your proposed crafting costs are sound, but I ( as a 4* gear player) can live with them as is. (mayhaps other, 2* and 3* gear players cannot)
Do recall, please, that I am not a huge fan of increased CE crafting costs, and that i do agree with you on this account. I am only addressing the auction house, everything else is of yours understood and at *least* decently received. I have no wish to be on the receiving end of your scathing tongue. I hate Internet arguments, they bore me immensely. Lets not start one, shall we? I'd love to do a run with you sometime, btw.
Well as soon as I get unbanned I will add ya and perhaps we can do a few runs or something. I need to go through and clean up that friends list to.
I like the overall idea of the AH but the listing fees, 10% cut, etc, etc, need kinda fixed. Like I said it's got it's own thread.
We shouldn't have a buyer's market or a seller's market. We should meet in-between.
I know people are happy they are going to give us a way to unbind things but really it won't solve the problem they set out to fix, and probably will only make it worse. They want to make things rare yah? Make them harder to craft by making it require more mats and harder to find those mats.
Increasing Alchemy costs, I'm in disagreement with yah, but if they need to they need to, but I'd prefer my prices and others do as well. They are very sound and agreeable with the community. Like I said, I'm fine with a 8* costing 800ce to craft.
Little changes at a time people mean big profit and little backlash from your community.

It's just the way that it happened overnight. I mean i'm a bomber, and i felt like i had to buy certain bombs when they were available---recipes that is. So now i have 4,5,6+ recipes that i bought at full cost and have yet to use in crafting.
Furthermore, i was going with a very careful, focused strategy of how/when i would be upgrading to 5* equip. I've been on here since the beginning saying i liked managing my CE as a resource. However, i went to bed 1 night with enough CE banked to make all my 5* equipment, woke up the next morning with the same amount of CE but only enough to craft 2 5* items.
Also, this is gonna greatly reduce my ability to have fun and "play" in the video game. I wanted to make certain items--like venom veiler and graviton--not based on their effectiveness but rather just them being neat. But when the cost of these items just improved so dramatically, it makes that completely unrealistic. Instead i feel kinda forced into grinding straight end game gear, taking much of the joy out of the game for me.
I'm not making any bold, sweeping claims of how i will quit playing, but i do see there being a bit of an artificial roadblock being there after i craft my next two 5* items, where i'm left standing there out of energy thinking, "holy s***" how i'm gonna hustle up another 1.6k energy for 2 more items. Not to mention now i feel i'll never be able to get all the nice UV gear i wanted. And it's so much more frustrating because i did strategically plan and map out my energy usage.
and all the while having trouble getting 3*....is now impossible hell no im not playing weeks to get things ragequit bye i go play sun online -_-
For swearing apparently, which is ridiculous because I haven't been excessive and far more players are worse then I am here lately.
Please stop making threads.
Please.
Especially with your name in the title. No one cares that YOU are the one writing it, just the points therein.
