Tortodrones Could be a Great Excuse for...a lot of things!
EDIT: March of the Tortodrones! OH WOW! (Check date of post vs. the initial release of that event...I look forward to seeing it again!)
They're old. They're clunky. They're covered in moss. So is the Ancient set (available from brinks for Almirian seals). A few people have mentioned how much they love moss...and you know you love moss too. Minecrafters salivate over mossy cobblestone. So let's have some more moss!
Maybe not a full set of recolors like surge/hunter/frosty/hallow etc. Since the ideas I've heard are more along the lines of specific accessories.
Ancient Dinosaur Set
Basically a scale set (scale face, but a salamander body recolor-emphasis on the sexy claws), but fatter and mossy. Why are old creatures made of rocks? (that was for Terry Pratchett fans).
Ancient Royalty Set
Some greenish slime set, with a cracked mossy crown. How jolly.
Ancient Warrior Set
Shogun helmet + a wolver-style coat (ppl love these so much..) that has an excessive amount of moss on the fur collar.
Accessories:
Ancient Dragon Wings (maybe ancient valk...old feathers are kinda gross).
These are larger (like shadow/divine/volcanic) and flap veeeeeeeeery slooooooowly.
I can't fly with these. They're too heavy.
Ancient Wings
Mossy gen 1 wings.
Ancient Bandolier
Will these even detonate?
Ancient Crest
Who does this crest even support? Oh well, it's got moss on it!
Ancient Pauldrons
Similar to the APspikes, just fatter. And mossier. And larger. But maybe a bit dulled with age.
Aura: Lazy Time
Ancients are rather sleepy things. Zzzs will float around you, even if you're not /dozing.
EDIT: Tortodrone Tail. This fat, salamander-suit-like tail will go very well with any suit you wish to make more torto-like. Comes in standard/special/Unique: "power" (to match pistons) styles - I'd prefer these be in the supply depot. But you know? Prolly ancient prize box. Note: this accessory will completely cover the buttpack of most armors, such as fur coats and so on, even while walking. Torto takeover!
Authentic (non-expiring) Tortodrone Masks. Ancient, and Corrupted. But also a mask to match each of the new 5* shields. Glowing green eyes in a turtle head...or red, purple, yellow! Whatever matches your outfit!
Guild Hall Things:
Tortodrone statues. Boss trophies come in sort of...3 stages. (For example: Jelly Gem, Crown, Jelly King). These smaller units that lack boss tokens could be 1-2 stages, with the first stage being just the shell or a non-corrupted torto. The second stage could be a life-size replica of the terrifying fiend torto, glowing purple bits and all. The third would be a True Torto, perhaps even a walking one - it could just sort of lumber around in a room. It would get stuck pretty easily, though. It could even have its own little twilight aura (I noticed that many torto scenarios have lots of fireflies).
These would of course take glyphs and ancient shells, as well as other related materials, to craft. I know that shells can be a task to get, but myself and many friends already have enough for all the new shields, so this could be something else fun to do for people who love SK too much.
Let's further impress Armero with the Hunt!
In addition to statues:
Those purple vortex blocks are amazing. They are very fun to play with. Having one in the hall to detonate and interact with would be awesome.
Some other small furniture, like moss covered rocks, ferns, waterfalls (I LOVE those waterfalls in the March of the Tortodrones mission "lobby"). To make the hall seem ancient and...serene. Perhaps even the new fiend sigils (the ones with a pit boss in the center and lower fiend ranks around it, that portals appear on) could be placed around as a sort of carpet. Oh! and piles of dark matter deposits.
Taro Lamps! (Like you see in Lichen Lairs sometimes). These fit the theme just fine.
Yay! Moar aesthetic things! Aesthetic. Yes. Shiny...
New weapons:
Post ideas for these. I'm not a fan of slow things in combat. Perhaps a very old, gear handcannon? That shoots gears and such?
I love new weapons. Any excuse to play with new toys, I'm a fan of that. Even if they are slow. Could be a great excuse to bring back sleep, and a whole family of sleepy ancient weapons.

EDIT: okay well they sorta did this with serene stuff, but it didn't have enough moss IMO. Also the "ancient" things didn't exactly match the extant ancient plate stuff...oh well! It was still an excellent update and I feel that it will return soon!

REALLY want a tortodrone helm/costume mask now - to complete the "I'm a tortodrone" look with the pistons/shield/gun.
EDIT:
Green drakon reskin, with mossy decals, and possibly power piston wings/torto arms/roarmulus twin head. obtainable via event-specific materials, just like the seraphynx reskin. Robot reptiles? Makes sense to me.

How about some ancient weapons?
A crossbow (think sideways Sentenza/AP) with high range but less than wonderful firing speed. Pretty good damage. It could fire stone crossbow bolts (MOSS!) and be made of rotting wood. Maybe piercing damage?
How about a double bladed hand axe? It could have a fast two hit combo (the first two strikes of a medium speed sword), with a charge attack similar to a buffed up version of a slow swords second swing (The spinny part).
I would also like if there was a mossy, cracked hammer with a two hit combo. First strike is normal heavy sword swing, the second swing is a weaker version of the troika charge (large overhand blow).
While suggestions 2 and 3 are similar, I feel that they are ideas that are not presently in game. I actually really like idea #1!

Crossbows certainly fit the ancient theme, as they are older weapons. Some games put a high-tech spin on the bow-and-arrow family, so it could easily have a tron/steam-punk sibling in its crafting tree.
There's been a demand for more poison weapons, and poison needles, while already in plague needle form, could definitely be an option. It just has to be different enough from the PN to be worth doing.
Charge attack for these - no duh. What would the normal attack spam be?
As far as slamming big ole weapons around, a fully mossy sister to the Sudaruska/Triglav/other slammy things that causes...again, poison, would be cool. Or sleep. If they bring that back. That would be an interesting day, for sure. Imagine the description..."Having trouble sleeping? A good touch of the Mossaruska solves that every time! Side effects include comas, headaches."
Animated vines? yes please. The ancient plants have awakened. And they're not too interested in just hanging around photosynthesizing.

It would be cool if the entire weapon was just a mossy, stone pillar. Seerusly, just a column, like from an ancient Greek building, covered in moss. IDK how it would be held on to... Maybe a club that thins at the handle (handle wrapped in vines), with the actual BASHY end as a pillar.
By a new play style, I meant a new attack pattern and maybe some new utility. I may be completely incorrect but since the combos are just recombined versions of already existing attacks/charges, wouldn't they be easier to implement than entirely new attack patterns?

Yes. That's awesome. One as a craftable, the other as a throwable...(see below).
And I wouldn't know, I'm not a coder.
Taking one basic attack and combining it with a charge attack from something else for a new weapon might be pretty easy, and feel sorta new.
As far as totally new utility/patters, yeah, idk. Someone else could get on the soapbox for that.
Columns, rocks...these could actually just be lying around certain levels for the throwing. One time use. Pick up a column, swing it around for some oomph and let it fly. The pillar would have major pushback, but deal very little damage. After impacts, crumbles away, maybe have a respawner. (I ignore logic for respawners, because thinking about those makes my head hurt). Would be nice to have a variety of throwables (vs. clay/fire/oil pots/, water/fire orbs/mini nukes. I love these but I want moooooar).

How about...
(Guess what)A spear.... with MOSS. It's tip would be covered with moss and poison :3
Long reach, decent damage. However, it would leave you a bit vulnerable at the 3rd strike. It's charge attack would be a barrage of strikes, pointy and painful strikes. :3
It would have a decent attack speed. Annnnd there we go. I don't know what to do about the charge attack, so you guys just come up with one. Also more details for this weapon could be nice.

It's more an expansion from the Troika to a new weapon that keeps troika's basic textures, growing more extreme with moss and clunk! as star increases. Troika is already a part of my "ancient" costume loadout, - we've not forgotten it exists.
An alternative would be weapon reskins, which is an idea that's been called different things and posted around a bit, but is essentially a weapon costume. Simply equipping like weapons over like weapons would be a good step - imo, fighting with a triglav that looks like a troika would be interesting. (I love the art of those sword lines, period. Just saying). Costumes, or over-equips like we have for armor/helms - These would be wonderful. Especially for shields. It's been posted enough, talked about enough, that it could be something in the future of the game. I dream.

Basic combo:
Downward strike forward 5 block range, crescent sweep 2 block range, 360 swing 2 block range.
Charge:
Slams torika into the ground and causes a small fire aoe but less damage then most torika charges.

Various "Serene" or "Ancient" furnitures
I think this thread can still be used as a source of suggestions to whenever this event returns, which could be similar to the Kataclysm in terms of frequency and prizes.
This would be a nice way to organize torto-suggestions on aesthetic things....instead of having a bunch of small posts like that. Just a thought.
Or we could let it R.I.P and have Drupal's amazing search skills do things for us :P.
I have to say the ancient crest made me a bit sad, though. Too similar to polar. But in the future we could have a very mossy serene crest! Maybe. Please. Edit: yay, they fixed the coloring. But there's still not enuff moss imo.
