Google Swamp.

Google Swamp Autumn.

Google Swamp Winter.

Don't tell me these wouldn't look beautiful in spiral knights (neutral, fire, and ice themed swamp stages respectively).

After talking about water themed levels, while most of the suggestions are aimed at fully submerged gameplay, I think that levels with waist-high bodies of water would be fantastic too. Calling the levels swamps would get the message across quite clearly what is going on in these stages.

Also, I think swamps could be a fun lockdown stage.

Thoughts?

I'd say something about Beast

I'd say something about Beast Family: Alligator style enemies that are slow on land but much better in water, but they'd be glorified Chromalisks.

Who cares about Chromalisks, 1+ to both Swamps and alligators.

Copy swarm mechanics and apply them to water. Knights are slowed down, monsters on it get buffs.

Or rather just leave the swarm seed on the floor. The swamp would cover it anyways (lazy alternative)

+1 To Swamps.

How about Constructed Alligators?
Alli-motors? Cog-adiles?

Maybe some Feral / Voodoo Gremlins?
Quite a few Silkwings /Fireflies.

And some Lumbers fashioned from Mangrove Trees.

But I like this idea of Wading through water.
Itd feel quite spooky.

No, not new constructs. There

No, not new constructs. There are only three types of monsters in the Beast family: Dust Bunnies, Wolvers, and Chromalisks.

I rather like the idea of wading through a swamp scenario and exploring the level. The water should be very common but not slow you down, though...

Monsters (new, level specific ones?) could pop up from the water. Makes more sense than just suddenly appearing out of nowhere in a flash of light.

Maybe repurpose the tentacles from Ghost in the Machine boss into something similar all through the level. No stopping to talk for you, this would be like the candlestick keep but instead of grimalkins, swamp tentacles stalk you while in water areas. Safe areas would be land!

The water should slow us down a bit. Also, the alligator type monsters should be camouflaged! And do extremely high damage if they catch you off guard. Meaning they uncamo, and then hit you. After that, it should do respective damage. But! It should never ever one hit kill. If they put this in the game, DUDE! That'd be AWESOME!

It's a superbuffed Chromalisk as you just described it.

I'm worried about graphical issues though. My comp can barely handle SK on lowest settings as it is. The water effects may be too much for people with less powerful systems.

so what would be the enemies? Jellies and undead? crogmolisks and jellies? To me with these would come a new piercing and undead territory. Over all I would love to see this. But question. Wouldn't snarbolax lairs be considered in a sense a swamp like forest area?

+1, with some personal suggestions!

Swamp stages were always a fun, interesting, and challenging in games I'd played before.

The idea of wading through water is a good start, but I feel to really add the spookiness of such a level, they should alternate a "Day" and a "Night" version for swamp levels. the night version would have alternate creatures and challenges.

Instead of some form of candlestick keep mechanic, I think it would be great if the whole level was hidden from view with exception to where you or your team were standing! To explain being lit in the darkness, it could appear that some kind of Spiral Knight device that functions as a personal light is auto-issued to every knight that passes through the gate into the level and is discharged as soon as the next elevator is taken. Would really add a new spookiness and sense of urgency to parts of the level where you must wade through the water.

That sounds like blind. I'd rather blind-theme be its own thing rather than lumped in with swamps just because.
