Make Obsidian Blade a 5* Winmillion and Nerf Acheron back to its own thing.

I don't understand that rather than making something as good as Winmillion, to have a five-star counterpart finally, you'd rather go and make an Acheron with Poison attached.

Think about it: Pure-Shadow Damage and a chance of inflicting poison, and the Winmillion finally gets a five-star counterpart after 2.5 years of neglect. I dub it "THE OBSIDIAN WING", yeah, sexy name, right? You know it! Acheron doesn't get any love and just needs a nerf since the only reason why it got a buff in the first place was because of the Obsidian Blade.

Only main problem I see with this is that Dread Venom Striker might be left slightly in the dust.

This would be awesome.

It seems cool, but...

Winmillion doesn't have a 5* & 5* Weapons usually have something differing in the Charge Attack(Antigua Lines summon birds on 5*, but not on 4*), although, the Calibur Lines don't seem to change...

Also, doesn't the Winmillion cause dodgy enemies to dodge(Gremlins, Wolvers, etc)?

Would the Charge Attack be the same, the Winmillion's current Charge Attack, or similar to the Winmillion's charge, but throws out 3 discs?

We need details.

No, this isn't true. All Charge-Attacks are exactly the same aside from a few cosmetic changes and buffs. Example is the Brandish-line gets +1 Explosion per upgrade where as the Electron Vortex line just increases in size. Leviathan Blade just has a wider-radius and more damage.

Yes, it does as the projectile is well... a projectile.

As for an upgraded charge? Only main problem I see with that is that unless the discs were more powerful, it'd end up just like the Barbarous Thorn Blade, where it provides more Area-of-Effects but the Flourish-line outclasses it. I have no problem with it, I'm either thinking three-discs launching or the single disc has an expanded radius and explodes on impact, causing minor push-back. I'd honestly prefer the former though.

and in later news...

Breaking news! Dissatisfied customer hacks OOO servers and codes out this suggestion alongside a ton of rebalances eerily similar to Lugnut's aka blt god's thread suggestions! The culprit has yet to be identified but must be awaiting thousands of sandwiches from the various slaves their sheer awesomeness attracts.

never hurts to dream.

Pure shadow damage? Plz no.

I don't understand what's a bad idea about a Pure-Shadow weapon.

When you're this swag this world just bows at your knees

Because it downright sucks against shadow resistant enemies, and is absolutely useless on Vanaduke's final phase. It's also horrendously broken in PvP.

Zeddy's picture
Zeddy

How is it horrendously broken in PvP?

I'm confused

Winmillion broken in pvp?

A shadow winmillion upgrade beats its staying stuck in place as "useless carp sword" forever.

Zeddy's picture

To clarify, a 5* Winmillion would have its slashes do the samage as Valiance and the projectiles the same damage as Argent Peacemaker. The charge slash would do the same damage as Callahan's charge and the charge projectile the same damage as Nova Driver.

So if a 5* shadow Winmillion would be horrendously broken then Umbra Driver and Sentenza is broken as well.

In addition, a shadow-damage Valiance and shadow-damage Callahan would also be horrendously broken.

Good thing we'll never see those guns in the game ever, otherwise LD might become horrendously broken. :V

dat sarcasm at the end Zeddy.

Although with our current update rate you could be right on that, "never gonna see" part...

Hmm.

Acheron should get a status effect though. Personally I'd suggest a new one, Weaken or something that lowers the enemy's attack, more so than Poison. Perhaps movement speed too. Could be called Lethargy.

Pure damage has a lot less synergy with recon cloak in PvP. They're also generally weaker than split damage types in PvP based on the amount of damage resistance knights have vs the damage resist monsters have that they're balanced against. I believe the target would have to have double max normals on his gear to make a pure damage sword do as much damage per hit as a split damage sword, generally speaking.

Glacies's picture

So from my understanding, you'd rather have a split-damage Winmillion that would most likely cause the Gran Faust and Acheron to become inferior to it because otherwise you'd feel that it wouldn't be used much in PvP. Correct? Or am I reading into it wrong?

Zeddy has even said it would do generally moderate damage. It would do 108+87 per swipe on Depth 28 on a neutral target, that's 185 Damage per swipe. Acheron does 234 per swipe, and the Brandish-line does 203 per swipe. This is still decent damage.

Even then, I'm still not understanding how it'd be horrendously broken in PvP. It's only slightly faster than a Brandish and it does weaker damage along with a secondary bullet which still doesn't equal up to Acheron/Gran Faust. Both Sentenza and Argent Peacemaker outclasses the bullet if you plan on just using that. The closest thing I could think of "horrendously broken" is more or less Poison kicking in, but you're complaining about this now when Obsidian Edge already has that same power? And yet everyone prefers Acheron over it? Obsidian Edge's poison almost never kicks in, even with the chance of poison on normal hits it's almost a decently low chance of inflicting it.

@Glacies

Split damage is just generally better. Aside from the PvP benefits, you also get more damage against enemies with lower/no armor like T2 enemies in T3, Lost Souls, targets marked by Recon Flare, etc.

I like Obsidian Edge the way it is and expect it to stay the way it is, so really I'm talking about whether or not I would use a hypothetical 5* Winmillion. Maybe just to try it out, but probably not as a staple of my arsenal, like Brandish/Rapier/Antigua/Polaris type weapons are.

+1 -1

+1 for willimon. -1 for achoron. It was buffed becuase the obsidian blade has poison. So it does less dmg

And then came Zeddy to explain why the Acheron needs a nerf.

Glacies's picture

Acheron was just fine the way it was before. Obsidian Blade won't exist if Obsidian Edge is turned into a 5* Winmillion, hence reverting it back would be the best change. Or at least give it Damage Bonus: Vs Gremlin and Slime Low.
