Overkill?

Given that the disintegration ray and strong poison are applied in conjunction with the max damage bonus attained through any means (armor, helmet, shield, perk, and/or trinkets), and a maxed five star weapon that its designated target is weak to, what is the maximum first-hit, non-charge, damage that can be inflicted on a third tier enemy in the deepest depths of clockworks?

And how is the Harvester doing now a days?

Dunno. I know that combination makes a charged Blitz Needle do 344/hit on Vanaduke. Overkill indeed.

already a thread

There was already a thread about something like "is it possible to do 1000 damage in a hit"? Look for it? It has obsoleted your thread probably.

@Bopp I made that thread :D

Now, I asked for it just being possible to get over 1000 damage. Not exactly what he's asking here.

@OP Have you considered the Spark of Life attack buff as well? I'm sure Zeddy'll run in with his numbers.

By "deepest depth", do you mean depth 28, the deepest depth attainable in regular arcade runs; depth 29, the deepest depth attainable in Shroud of the Apocrea; or ???, the deepest depth attainable in Shadow Lair FSC?

I can't answer the last two, but for the first one:

  • The strongest raw damage on a first hit can be found on Acheron. At depth 28, its damage is 586.
  • Get max damage through Chaos and the sprite perk for sword damage. 586 * 124% = 726.24
  • Revive with a Spark of Life. 726.24 * 150% = 1089.96
  • Deadly Cloak. 1089.96 * 140% = 1525.944
  • Now attack one of the following:
    • Any enemy you've tagged with Recon Flare. (Reduces defence to 0.)
    • A homing Howlitzer head. (Has 0 defence to begin with.)

Number may not be entirely accurate, since the base damage of Acheron is very unlikely to be an integer to start with. It could be anywhere within 10 damage points of 1525.

@Zeddy

You forgot Frenzied Firestorm!

Frenzied Firestorm and Deadly Cloak cancel eachother out. Only one of them can apply at a time.

Ah! Who will be the first to deal maximum possible damage, I wonder?

Zeddy's picture

Perhaps we will! We'll be visiting SL Vana soon. Perhaps you could bring an Acheron and a recon flare for science?

That would almost work. Let's not forget that I don't have a Maskeraith with Deadly Cloak, though. If we were to try this, I'd probably prefer doing it with DA regardless since eh, Acheron in UFSC? No thanks.

SL FSC?

I had not considered going that far. That sounds like a good idea. And I think I like the idea of a DA being used for those numbers. But in regards of applying the best weapons for the particular job of dealing high damage on the first blow in the Shadow Lair, would the Warmaster Rocket Hammer work better? Or are some of the numbers based on the output of normal damage as well with the DA/Acheron?

Scroll down to DA and you will find that the undefended damage for it is higher than the undefended damage for WRH, although one might find WRH to be more powerful at times. This is beacuse WRH inflicts only one kind of damage, elemental damage. A Slime at depth blah will have x Elemental defence. This value is the same as the Normal defence, which the DA inflicts and will be reduced by (unless we get to the point where dmg/2 > defence but that's another story). If WRH inflicts 450 pure damage at one depth and a Slime there has 100 Elemental defence, the WRH will deal 350 damage. If a DA has 500 pure damage at that depth, the slime will have 100 Elemental defence and 100 Normal defence to defend itself with, resulting in and end damage of 300.

Meow meow meow meow...

Seerusly though, I'm not sure if I can explain too well. All weapons have a "true" damage, and all enemies have a defence value. damage-defence=output damage, unless defence > damage/2.

If you can find one in the fifth depth of a Shadow Lair, sure.
