So for a while now I've been a bit bugged at how often I come across some treasure boxes only to get a bunch of poison vials and excess remedy capsules that I'll never use. It was a thing long before the battle sprite update, but back then it was fine considering I could get just as much of the heat and crowns that I needed from killing monsters. Nowadays, however, the bulk of our progression in gear comes from rarities dropped exclusively from treasure boxes, which makes it rather annoying when I get stuff like this: http://imgur.com/wOAyPcN
That's 12/15 treasure boxes from the last round of an arena, on elite mode, depth 25, dropping completely useless consumables for me. The two pills would be great, except I already got my fill of pills from the gigantic wave of monsters I had to kill to get there.
Now, I know that one of the first fears of a reduction in consumables would be that it would make the game significantly harder. Which is why I specify elite mode. I don't think anyone would really complain about elite mode being harder in exchange for a higher drop rate of rarities, in fact I'd be very much for it. Monsters still drop plenty of health capsules, remedies, curse vials, shock barriers, and other stuff knights never actually use, and a little bit of added challenge from having a few less would be welcomed by a large amount of the fanbase. It would even help solve the issue of radiant fire crystals being nigh-impossible to acquire, although only by a little bit.
I agree that treasure boxes drop consumables way too often. The particular case you presented was merely your bad luck, but things like that do happen quite often. And i honestly don't think that decreasing the drop rate would make the game that much harder, considering that most people don't even use consumable items besides pills and remedies.
