I believe radiant fire crystals should be more commonly found in spiral knights. From my experience, a completed 4 star weapon is more powerful that a 5 star weapon that is not completely levelled up! I find this really absurd, because after a few months of playing SK, my divine avenger is still level 4 due to the high demand of radiants and the low chance of a forging success.
Radiants seriously needs to be more common
the most i got was 13 and i need to level up all my armor and weapons for every run
When they finally make something hard to achieve everybody complains. Getting the highest level on the highest star version of things shouldn't be easy anyway.
I know, I know, Being stuck with level 1 5 star weapon sucks.
Try not to craft things from 4 star to 5 star when your inventory has no radiant heat crystals.
Radiants? Go to a Shadow Lair (preferably UFSC), split 4 ways on Elite. Many people in Haven sell keys for less than 1600 CE. That means you'll pay 400 Energy per peep, or about 36000 crowns if we round up by quite a bit. You'll usually get 50-80 Radiants per run, and on average, you should make a slight profit as well.
lol its just that i havent played spiral in a while and gaining levels was so easy before, the sudden change in difficulty bugs me
Anilation? XtweeterX? Could you get me another tally book ? It is one of THESE threads again...
AAAAH, DAMMIT TWEETER!
Don't put damn brony links on spiral knights, i am allergic to anything related to bronies.
Now back to the subject, there is alrealy at least 20 topics about radiant.
Until you find me "not another one of these again" thing that is NOT brony-related, I will use that from now on for the sake of your sanity.
But until then...
Grinding =/= challenge. In fact, grinding is just about the opposite of what someone looking for challenge seeks.
No matter how many times you're sick of hearing about this - the OP is still right.
Old system > Forge
eat all the grass
eat all the grass that you want
accidents happen in the dark
eat all the grass that you
AcCiDeNtS happen
I secretly hope that one day radiant complains will drown out this forum, as well as ingame chat, forcing people to flee from this unescapable monotonous wail. Maybe then Three Coins will notice that something is wrong.
@Shadowshadow
I feel your pain, bro. But right now the only option is grind.
Also, those who think UFSC is really an option for casual players - reality check! Not everyone can spend all day at the game honing the skills, and not everyone can find a group reliable enough to last through Shadow Lair. Come down from your gamer heaven and look upon this base earth, because it's casual players who bring money to this game. And Three Coins is milking them a bit too hard now.
Running UFSC six-seven times to heat a weapon = grind and not fit for someone who was just forced to downgrade their weapons to 5* because they need to pass HoH.
Downgrading to pass HoH is not only encouraged, it's forced and means whoever does it is stuck with worse weapons than before.
@Theirillusion
Grinding a shadow lair is painful. Its painful because you don't want to be there after about the third trip through, no one else wants to be there because no one else wants to pay for your shadow lair key, and after a while you just lose the motivation... seriously, it isn't worth it and like Krakob said, you shouldn't be expected to be able to compete in shadow lairs as soon as you unlock your first 5* item- especially with it being worse than the 4* gear that you just downgraded from.
I would like you to craft an entire set of new gear- a helmet, two weapons, a shield, and an armor piece. Then, go run UFSC to heat it like you said. Tell me that that's a challenge. Tell me that it isn't grinding.
How many radiants does it take to heat a weapon to level 10, assuming you go for the 100% crafts, anyway?
Being 'endgame' before the forge revamp, I have barely crafted anything, and though I don't fully remember just how much I used, I do know that I spent about 200+ radiants in my most recent 5* item. I was a little more cautious with it though, using the 70-75% success crafts from time to time. I think at some point, I actually failed twice in a row before deciding to go with the 100% upgrades, but maybe made up for it when I lucked out and skipped from level 8 --> 10.
I feel your pain though - in about a week between someone asking me how many I had and starting to level up my WHB, I noticed I had only gained 3 Radiant Fire Crystals, and that's kind of terrible. (Maybe it was bad luck, or just me avoiding FSC for a while, because I got 12 radiants in one FSC run). Either way, 700 CE for 50 crystals is gauge-pushing.
351 or so for a full 5* heating.
I love how people keep suggesting for newer players with lvl 1 5* gear/4* gear to run UFSC 6-7 times.
Protip- That doesn't work.
Protip- Forcing players to either pour their money into the game or do an improbable task (UFSC spam as your first SL, as a 4/5*, as a newer player) is how you wipe your playerbase out of newer players.
Protip- Even if the newer player scrounges up money and confidence for UFSC and a newbie, nobody will let them in their party anyway.
Nah, I'm fine with Radiant Fire Crystals drop rate.
I've almost finished X-Com: Enemy Within on Classic difficulty, now I'm trying Ironman mode on Classic (it would be my fifth playthrough and when I'm done I'll get Achievement for finishing game with starting base on every continent). I've finished Ironman mode on Normal difficulty long time ago, but on Classic it really starts to get bumpy. Thus I suppose it'll take me some time to be done with X-Com.
And then Banner Saga will be launched in January...
...and my free time is limited so don't fix Radiant Fire Crystals drop rate. At the moment, the less reasons to start playing SK again the better.
EDIT:
Plus I'm totally agree with Zeddy (obvious) and Mushy-Bucket.
What if we talk about regular FSC instead?
Assuming a normal player's Elite FSC run takes about 1 hour, and maybe about 6 Radiants (adjusted down for 'worst case' - though I assume that it's probably more moderate at maybe 9) at the end:
10 runs:
80kcr
30 Almirian Seals (+30kcr if you sell that)
60 Radiants
10 hours
That gets at least one pack of the 700CE 50 Radiants + the ~60 from the runs, which would leave you at about the 1/3 point.
So maybe about a 2-3 weeks or so of maybe 1-2 runs per day to get the 350 radiants for a single level 10 item? :|
I do make an assumption about # of radiants at the end of FSC though. I don't run FSC as often as I do anymore, so if anyone can shout out how many Radiants they've gotten from a single Vanaduke bossfight, that might be interesting to think about.
The last time I bothered a month ago, I got 2-3 radiants a run (solo, elite).
Average should be about 9 fire crystals, half of which should be radiants (other half shining) from D28. So 10 runs should get about 45. Your results may vary.
Running normal FSC at a rate of 1 FSC run per hour and 6 radiant fire crystals would be great, except for the bit where I need 453 fire crystals per item.
I hate to break it to you, but 453/6 = 75.5. Would YOU like to spend 75 hours doing nothing but firestorm citadel for each and every one of your items?
If you decide that you want to spend all of the crowns you get on radiants, your 10 runs would get you 110K crowns, which is about 900 CE. Thats maybe... 30 hours of nonstop grinding for an item? 2 hours per day at 2 weeks is about that.
Compared to the typical costs of crafting an item prior to the update, about 1100 CE if you used your mist energy, thats about... three times as expensive to craft items? Not counting the 3 and 4* crafting supplies. Is that fair to 4* knights, looking to craft their first 5* weaponry?
You can even double up your figures, last time I checked I averaged 3 radiants per run on Elite FSC. 150 hours of grinding, no thanks. I have to play about one thousand hour of the same stage to just fully heat one complete set of gear. Plain ridiculous.
No they don't need to.
