Revivals, Forging, Crowns, and Energies
I'm not quite sure I like the revival system for when you die, the way forging works, and the amount of Crowns dropped from enemies. But let's start with revives. When a payer dies, he/she has a free "Emergency Revive" on ever floor level and is used once to bring you back alive. After that, you're on your own and have to use energies to revive yourself. I don't like that. I feel there's no point in going on in the Rank Missions (or other missions) if one has to keep on using Spark of Life and then Energies to revive one's self to continue. I also don't feel like spending real money just to get more Energy. I also think that trading 8,192 crowns for 100 Energy is expensive. How about a lower price to get 100 Energy? Anyway, we should get infnite revives. No? But that's WAY BETTER than using up all your Energies just so you can go through a difficult mission. Now I know what you're thinking: "So don't use Energies to revive yourself and just go back to Haven and start over." Even if I went with other players, those Energy will still be used up. Those Energies are already used on gates that have tough battles and Spiral Knight droids you can bring to life. The game won't be fun if we don't have infinite revives on ourselves. Like I said, going on Rank Missions (or other missions) with or without other players will still cost you Spark of Life and Energies to revive yourself. Unless foes drop a lot of Crowns, lower the Crown price on Energy. I want to be able to at least continue on in Rank Missions and not have to use up Energies. Perhaps maybe we can use crowns to purchase Spark of Life?
On to Forging. The last time I played Spiral Knights, your armor and weapons leveled up on its own we didn't have to forge it to level it up. Although I kinda see how it makes sense to forge your armor and weapons to level it up. The only reason I don't like it is because I have used up all my Energy from reviving myself so much and don't like to use real money to purchase more. How about instead of using Energy to by more Radiant Fire Crystals, we use Crowns. Make it a fair Crown price. Armory and Weaponry can still be Energy currency. Materials should also be Crown currency.
Crowns dropped from enemies. Fighting foes on each level is tiresome. Foes should drop more Crowns and maybe more Energy. I say that foes should also drop Energy is so that if we are to revive oursleves, we should be able to get a lot and enough to revive ourselves.I'm quite sure that makes sense. More Crowns dropped because if we want to buy a lot of Energies, we'd have enough Crowns to purchase them. Right now, getting enough Crowns takes like hours, maybe days to have enough to purchase what we need. Even 5 Stared Armor and Weapons cost a lot to transmute in the Alchemy Machine.
I hope I'm not the only one that think this. I appreciate the feedback.

ah, a massive complaining post about everything. let's see.
I feel there's no point in going on in the Rank Missions (or other missions) if one has to keep on using Spark of Life and then Energies to revive one's self to continue.
you don't have to. you can return to heaven. but you already know that, and say
Even if I went with other players, those Energy will still be used up. Those Energies are already used on gates that have tough battles and Spiral Knight droids you can bring to life.
those things are optional, and now almost nobody uses them. especially macha knights, cause they use up 5 ce and in return you get an annoyance. don't revive them, really.
then you complain you die a lot and use up your energy when you know that the battlesyou unlock are difficult. quit doing them maybe?
Anyway, we should get infnite revives. No? But that's WAY BETTER than using up all your Energies just so you can go through a difficult mission.
don't do the mission maybe? there are more things to do than missions, and in the meanwhile you can heat weapons, and get better at tactics. or you could lower the difficulty.
I also think that trading 8,192 crowns for 100 Energy is expensive. How about a lower price to get 100 Energy?
make yourself in the shoes of the energy sellers. would you like to lower the price of the things you sell? main answer is "not until they keep buying".
the whole second paragraph shows that you didn't really play a lot in the old days. energy is sold by players. players decide the price that buyers are willing to give for 100 energy. I would just stop buying energy (like I am right now) and enjoy the game in the ways I can without buying energy. you could also check the Auction House. it's all for cr in there, but since the players in AH are somehow worse than the ones selling energy, it's still cheaper to wait a bit, buy energy with crowns, and buy things from the supply depot. except weapons and armor, supply depot is overpriced there.
and so I link this to the end of the first paragraph, and to the whole third one.
Unless foes drop a lot of Crowns, lower the Crown price on Energy. I want to be able to at least continue on in Rank Missions and not have to use up Energies. Perhaps maybe we can use crowns to purchase Spark of Life?
I'll begin with the bottom. energy can be purchased with crowns. if players set prices too high, it's nothing you can fight against; try to farm the arcade a bit.
if you want to keep on with the rank mission and don't use energy, then get better at them. I know it's brutal like this, but it's the only thing you can do. master the use of your weapons, refine your tactics, learn to use your shield and sprite if you must.
last streak, is your body ready?
energy prices can be high for two reasons. one is the reason we have right now, that is there is a very high demand of energy. since everyone wants it, sellers decide to make prices higher. and since this energy is spent, there is less energy in circulation, so it becomes more valauable on its own.
the second reason is inflation. crown inflation to be precise. if many people have many crowns, crowns lose value. if crowns lose value, the price of energy goes up. you can't keep up with the price, so it becomes difficult to buy energy again; it possibly becomes more difficult.
your solution wouldn't solve things; in fact, it could make them worse. I'm sorry to say this, but you're on your own.
besides all this, can I ask you some questions?
what was your star rating when you quitted playing the first time? and what is your actual star rating?
ah, I forgot to say something to Dibsville. I disagree on the fact that shinings were unfindable. I had a lot, and I got them farming radiants in the arcade. we had the shinings, we just didn't see where.
I agree that stopping at 4* is better than stopping at 3*, but remember we still don't have elites dropping, which is the other half of the problem. if OOO lowered the chances of finding eternals upping elites, it would be great.

Free revives already exists. It's called the Advanced Training Hall.
I could still remember back before pets when your corpse could be in the training hall for hours on end instead of the ER immediatly popping up and being created again.
"Enemies drop plenty of Crowns."
Hmm.....Whenever I go about in the arcade, most enemies don't drop enough Crowns. For me anyway. Maybe others are more lucky to receive more Crowns than others.
"Play more defensively, or play on a lower difficulty. No one's forcing you to play on Elite or Advanced. You simply have a higher payout for doing so."
I guess I shouldn't go "guns blazing." What's the "best" load out I should use so that I can defeat my enemies quicker and stay alive through out?
"No one's forcing you to activate the Mecha Knights."
When I mentioned that "the Energies are already used on droids and challenging gates" I wasn't implying that I used them there. Though I'll admit that I used my Energy on the droids, so I'll stop doing that now.
"Foes should drop more Crowns
Enemies drop plenty of Crowns.
and maybe more Energy
No."
I thought it would be cool if enemies also dropped Energy. I guess not......
"**On the note of Reviving, we can now farm Sparks of Life. Before we had to use our energy, which cut down on our Clockworks exploration (as elevators cost energy as well). Now we can travel freely, and Sparks of Life can be farmed. Everything is free now, it just takes time to grind. You must be forgetting how long it took to grind before these ideas were put in to place. That, or you weren't there."
I was gone for a period of time. I first came to the game a little over a year and a half ago. Around mid 2011, early 2012-ish. Then I was gone for a whole year. So for me to get used to some of the new things is gonna take some time. Will I like it? I'm not sure. We'll see.
"the whole second paragraph shows that you didn't really play a lot in the old days. energy is sold by players. players decide the price that buyers are willing to give for 100 energy. Like I said, I was gone for a whole year. I also didn't hear about the game until mid 2011-ish. I played it for a year and was gone for a year. I only came back a week ago.
"what was your star rating when you quitted playing the first time? and what is your actual star rating?"
If you mean the stars on my armor and weapons, they were 4 stars and I didn't have enough crowns and the required items to Transmute. When I came back I played a little bit and got enough crowns and the required items and are now 5 stars. I'm not sure I know what you mean by "Star Rating."
" you can heat weapons"
How do I do that? fight more enemies? then what?
"Anyway, we should get infnite revives. No? But that's WAY BETTER than using up all your Energies just so you can go through a difficult mission.
We used to have this. In a party, players used to be able to give half their health to another player in order to revive them (they got health equal to the health the other person gave them). This promoted alt farming, and has been removed for the greater good."
I meant on ourselves. Infinite revives on ourselves.
"Right now, getting enough Crowns takes like hours, maybe days to have enough to purchase what we need.
And in that time, you gain Orbs of Alchemy. You use those for Crafting. In the old system, we had to use the Crowns to Craft. Now we can Craft and still make a profit. I don't see a problem here."
Where do I find Orbs of Alchemy?
As you can tell, there are some things I have no idea how to do. I only played for a few months when i first did, and left for a year. I then came back a week ago seeing all these new things and I STILL have no idea what I'm doing. I guess I can't go guns blazing like in most games. I need a better strategy. -_-;

Personally, I wish they still kept the health-sharing revive method. It made the game feel far more co-operative than it does now. The Sparks of Life and the emergency revive work really well if you're playing solo, but for me teamwork feels like it's been pushed to the background.
I know these changes were to prevent alt-farming, but I wish they had been done... differently. Not everyone's experience should be compromised because of the people who alt-farmed.

""Anyway, we should get infnite revives. No? But that's WAY BETTER than using up all your Energies just so you can go through a difficult mission.

This promoted alt farming, and has been removed for the greater good.
This promoted alt farming, and has been removed for the greater good.
This promoted alt farming, and has been removed for the greater good.
That would be even worse than party revives.
Where do I find Orbs of Alchemy?
Orbs of Alchemy can be found in treasure blocks as extremely rare drops. While they're very rare, and you do have to grind quite a bit to get any, it is still free Crafting. And if you get tired of grinding, you can still buy 3 Orbs (the requirement to craft something) for the same price as they always have been (800 Energy for Eternals, which are 5*, 400 Energy for Elites, which are 4*, etc).
I guess I shouldn't go "guns blazing." What's the "best" load out I should use so that I can defeat my enemies quicker and stay alive through out?
There is none, it's all personal preference. I'd recommend always having at least 2 different damage types, or just getting a normal damage sword and gun (you could use a bomb, but there really is no need for that if you're going strictly normal damage).

Well, the Normal damage swords are...underwhelming, in most cases.
There is no best loadout. But the best weapons tend to be the Brandish line, Blitz Needle line, and the Alchemer line. If by best you mean quickest way to murder enemies.
Wait...
Hmm.....Whenever I go about in the arcade, most enemies don't drop enough Crowns. For me anyway. Maybe others are more lucky to receive more Crowns than others.
/e gasps.
Some people actually run the arcade beside Dibsville? THE END IS NIGH.
Sorry.
How do I do that? fight more enemies? then what?
Then Forge them. Didn't you bother talking to the new NPC?
I guess I can't go guns blazing like in most games. I need a better strategy. -_-;
Say hello to the Blitz Needle. Oh wait, he's busy massacring Vanaduke. He'll be back in around a minute or so.

Ah.

My arcade runs have came to a halt because the gates are...less than adequete at the moment. Hope the next has arenas and clockworks.

Well, we certainly aren't giving you cubed answers.
And besides, what question do you want us to answer? You haven't replied to our last critique, so we don't have anything to do.

i've been reading this post and from the start was ok but then it went to the arcade bit where we just kept talking about it XD
How about a lower price to get 100 Energy?
The prices are high because of the holidays. Everyone wants that energy. This is called an Economy. More demand = higher prices.
Emergency Revives only came to be only recently. They used to not exist at all in-game. This almost prevented soloing unless the player knew what they were doing. Now you get a free revive. Don't even start complaining about this.
Anyway, we should get infnite revives. No? But that's WAY BETTER than using up all your Energies just so you can go through a difficult mission.
We used to have this. In a party, players used to be able to give half their health to another player in order to revive them (they got health equal to the health the other person gave them). This promoted alt farming, and has been removed for the greater good.

Unless foes drop a lot of Crowns, lower the Crown price on Energy.
The game master's do not have control over the market. The players do. The current price of energy is the lowest price someone is selling it for. If I put up Energy for 5000 Crowns each, everyone would see it, and they could buy all the energy I put up for 5000 Crowns. I lose the energy, and in turn gain the crowns. So, when you're buying energy, that's just the lowest price you can buy it for as of now.
Perhaps maybe we can use crowns to purchase Spark of Life?
You can buy Sparks of Life for Energy, which you can buy for Crowns.
How about instead of using Energy to by more Radiant Fire Crystals, we use Crowns.
Again, you can buy Energy with Crowns.
Foes should drop more Crowns
Enemies drop plenty of Crowns.
and maybe more Energy
No.

Even 5 Stared Armor and Weapons cost a lot to transmute in the Alchemy Machine.
They've always cost that much. What are you talking about.
I hope I'm not the only one that think this. I appreciate the feedback.
You weren't. However many people have come to live with it, and even like the changes (I myself like all of it but the Forge, but only because of the lack of Fire Crystals. I don't care that it slows down heating, only that it stops it completely).
Many games have been changing drastically over the years, and Spiral Knights is no exception. The game is now easy-to-access and it has stopped things such as alt-farming for an unfair amount of payout to people who could handle it.
*On the note of Radiant Fire Crystals, we are currently going through what many call the "Radiant Drought". It's literally what its name implies, Radiants are very rarely found. Before the Drought, it was extremely hard to get Shining Fire Crystals, however Radiants were EVERYWHERE. During this time, people had tons of Radiants, but no weapons to use them on because they couldn't heat their 4* gear to 5*. Now it's the opposite way around, and I honestly prefer the lack of Radiants.
**On the note of Reviving, we can now farm Sparks of Life. That, or you weren't there. If it's the latter, then I'll tell you right now, you should be more thankful.
