I read somewhere:

3* gear is med uv - 2 points resistance
4* gear is high uv - 3 points resistance
5* gear is max uv - 4 points resistance

Someone told me you need 7 points for full immunity, another player told me it's 8.5.

So which one is it?

I believe the info on gear you presented is correct. However, those are not UVs. Those are just inherent resistances. A UV adds an ability to an item, which can be resistance. A little note: Snarbolax gear (which you use) gives 3 Freeze and Poison resistance.

What you need for immunity depends on the status strength. Weak statuses require 7 for immunity and moderate statuses require 9. 8.5 might actually be correct, I am not sure. Nevertheless, you won't really ever find yourself in a situation where you'll reach 8.5 but not 9 as far as I know. Lastly, there are strong statuses which one can as far as we know not be immune to.

Yeah what I meant by that, 5*

Yeah what I meant by that, 5* gear is equivalent to a max uv which equals 4 points resistance.

The "is equal to" key on my laptop is broken. However thanks krakky.

EDIT: by 'weak' statuses you mean 'minor', right? I googled the VT real quick for example and it says "good chance of minor shock".

Minor, yes. Sorry about that.

Minor status immunity =

Minor status immunity = +7
Status wisp / Moderate status immunity = +9
T3 Floor traps / Strong status = no immunity up to +18 (personally tested); even if one exists it wouldn't be worth it

Chaos / Black Kat Cowl negatives count as -2

Note: Guardian class (Lockdown) comes with innate +2 resistance to all status

I think you mean +2 against

I think you mean +2 against every damage type, and not +2 against every status, right?

They do not. +2 in every damage type would do nothing. No matter, getting +2 in every status is insanely valuable for haze waltzing as it means you only need your regular armour and a low UV to walk through a status. Make sure to use your resistances to the fullest!

Wisps need +9 (+8.5) but some things need +10 (+9.5) to be immune to.

Question

So a 5* trinket bar is +2, and a 5* armor bar is +4, but how about the bar for something like Heater Shield?
How much would full Bombastic with a Heater Shield and 2 Sizzling Hearthstone Pendant (+2 against Freeze) and spirite perk Cold Blooded III give?
+21? +22?

Full Bombastic: +8
2 * Sizzling Heartstone: +4
Sprite perk: +3
Heater Shield: Nothing. Stats for shields only affect the shield itself.

Total: +15

@Zeddy

Thanks, so the shield's resist replaces the armor resist?
Anyway +18 really is ridiculous anyway.

When your shield is being used, the shield's own status defense stats take over, which reduces the damage the shield would take from that status. Even normally non damaging statuses (ie. poison) will inflict "damage" on a shield, and a shield with poison defense will take less "damage" before breaking.

I also forget when +10 is required. I recall some floor traps (stratum 5?) require +10 for immunity but then deeper level floor traps are strong status.

Legenddestroyer, you might want to read the wiki article "Shield". And maybe also "Shieldbearer Guide". I hope this helps.

I did a test awhile back. I had fully heated Dragon scale helm and armor and had a Fire med UV on the helm.

Then i added TWO 5* fire resist trinkets and added Fire (2 or 3) on my sprite.

I then went into FSC to stand on a fire grate and was surprised with the amount of damage i took. i don't remember the details. maybe i';; try again when i get to my PC.

it basically led me to believe there is no "Immunity" from the severe status damages.

I just did a new test with

I just did a new test with the following:
- Dragon Scale Helm - Max Fire (+4) w/ Fire Med UV (+2)
- Dragon Scale Armor - Max Fire (+4)
- Sprite Fire Resist III - (+3)
- 5* fire trinket (+2)

That's 15 points of fire resist.

I went into FSC on Elite and walked through a fire grate:
the initial blast too 4hp from me and the fire burned me for 2sec for 1.5hp each.

hrrmm...

full volc demo and a high sprite perk can give immunity to toxiols but have a 2sec fire from gremilin torchers. I presume if i get a low-med uv on either peice could give me near immunity?

A merc demo (double max) can give you immunity to VTs, but not Shock brandishes.

I remember some time ago, I saw someone who said that they were attempting a full status immunity set, so I followed him. He had;
Arcane Salamander 8 points of resist
Max UV on each 8 more points
Sprite Uv +3
Two fire resist trinkets (Post 14 said 2 on each so 4 points)
So that is 25 points of resist.
He literally walked through the fire trap like it was the sidewalk on a morning stroll, or he took very little damage but I didn't notice since it was probably red so not noticeable, I had my volume on mute, and he had silver health probably so I couldn't see.
