Maybe there's a reason for it, or maybe i'm just not hearing it, but when my shield breaks, it doesn't make any sound. When in the heat of battle, I sometimes don't notice when my shield actually does break especially when there's tons of flashy things going on. Sure you can tell if ur shield is up by looking at the HUD, but again, when there's so much going on and every movement is crucial, taking the moment to shift focus to see if ur shield is still there or not makes all the difference. Making a distinct shield break sound go off when your shield breaks is IMO a reasonable add on for players (unless there is no sound for a reason).
Make a sound for shield breaks
I'd so love this. +1
There's no difference playing without sound. If you have a big monitor (1600x900 although not that big compared to the monitors now) lower your games video resolution.
Don't get me wrong. I like this idea of a soundclip being added, but lowering you resolution would also help.
Audio and visual cues are very important when conveying vital information relevant to the game. It doesn't feel right only having one.
Saying you should lower your game resolution to improve a feature of the game is like saying you should play at 30fps instead of 60 because the game is so poorly coded that increasing the frame rate increases the speed the game plays at. You should never HAVE to have a WORSE setting for a FEATURE to be better. I have a 1920x1200 monitor and I should be able to use the whole thing dang it! :P
If anything the game should auto-resize the UI for bigger resolutions.
P.S: this would have never been a problem if OOO didn't make the UI so bad
Harry Mack should make an entire song for mid-battle with a broken shield. It would be epic. (Note: I'm kidding)
Often times in a more hectic battle I need to use my shield a lot. Of course that results in it's own destruction. But because I see the broken flash from my shield during all the chaos I usually assume a monster is just attacking me from that angle. So I put up my shield and oh wait! I don't have a shield! Trolololo.
So I get hit and die.
Now if there was some kind a metallic cracking sound that plays every time a shield is smashed in half for the next 15 seconds, this wouldn't be much of a problem.
Ah, ruining things with age-old complaints. Makes me wanna do something harmful to my psyche and/or memory and/or visual banks. x.x
@OP
+1. This would help. Another would be so make it so only you can hear your shield break so you don't get confused with others'.
I could swear it made a "crystal breaking" sound... or am I hallucinating? O_o
Definitely needs to be toggleable. Some people wouldn't enjoy the added sound, whatever it turns out to be.
I personally wouldn't care if they added an extra shield-break sound or not. I usually see the existing breaking animation and hear its sound. I think that shielding should be shut off entirely until the shield regenerates (maybe until it fully regenerates?) and then the knight could dodge and strike without accidentally slowing him/herself down, which I find myself doing all too often. Tanking another bullet when your shield just regenerated ( breaking it again) is annoying too (thus my suggestion of not being able to shield until it fully regenerates.)
A knight should be able to get used to this fairly quickly, and dodge until their shield is fully regenerated. (About 10 seconds? 8 before it startes to regenerate and about 2 to fully regenerate.)
Good suggestion +1
maybe the sound the recon in lockdown makes once it gets hit could work??

When your shield breaks, how about the sound of a guardian's shield that has broke completely in lockdown?
@ Eltrooper
Shutting off shield entierly is a bad idea, as it then stops players from shield canceling attakcs until the shield is full. That 10 second wait can be an eternity when dealing with weapon combos, as it would then effectively lower your DPS since your combos would now be longer. Also, the slowed movement it sometimes intended by players so that they can more accurately maneuver aroud the field without runnign into floor hazards or enemy bullet hell; this can still be used even while the shield is down. It doesn't take more than a split second when you raise your shield to notice that it's broken, so the reduced movement speed for that time is minescule.
Simple, helpful, and within the bounds of the game. The only negative would be if the sound was super intrusive, but I haven't heard a sound like that come from this game before
@Eltrooper:
If I couldn't shield, Greavers would murder me because of my lack of ASI.
The Guardian Shield has a "breaking" sound that might work.
The Guardian Shield has a "breaking" sound that might work.
I like the sound of the Battlepod Shields breaking, excluding the power down sound it also emits.

You're welcome.
"1. you can see whether your shield is broken or not by pressing X"
My X is set to my Sprite's second skill.
I'll really be able to see whether my shield is broken or not by turning invisible.
@Dibsville X is the default button for shield, whatever button you changed your shield to now applies to you
I support of this idea. I use my shield alot and I'm mainly focused on not getting killed, so having an audio cue to know my shield is now unusable for a bit is a great idea.
+1 I guess.
I counted 16 +1s so far, so that good. I find nothing majorly wrong with this idea, so you have my +1, and a block of cheese. Or would you prefer sliced?
1+

Sometimes, the shield makes a power-down sound when it breaks.
I could've sworn there used to be a sound like glass breaking if your shield broke, similar to when a Battlepod's shield powers down.
1. you can see whether your shield is broken or not by pressing X
2. this is useless
3. it's a nice little simple useless feature I like the sound of and wouldn't take that long to add, so 1+
