Gift Box and the purpose of pricing?

So this appeared not too long ago (yesterday? 2 days ago?)

A box to send a gift to someone (a gift being ONE item in your arsenal) with a private message... This is a great, lovely idea that I could've used a lot of time before when sending out gifts and giving quiz prizes... But here's the catch...

It cost 100 cr to send a mail with cr, ce AND 14 different items with it.

Why on Earth would I pay 225 ce to send one item with an animation of a prize box opening??

It just baffles me.

Anyone of OOO can come up and explain why they don't hand out these things instead of "selling" them overpriced?

I guess that they don't expire, and mail does? Though it's still not worth the price at that rate.

Wait, it only holds one item? Darn, was going to send someone some Iron Costume sets.

my 2 cents

Yus!!! one item only! and one private message (there's a nice animation but not worth 225 ce... or 500 ce, wtf... seriously it's mind boggling)

Edit: Does OOO take the P2P section as inbred or what?

Edit 2: @ Sleepy yeah the gift are awesome... just cost about 1000% more than an average gift mail... that's all

I think the idea is rather

I think the idea is rather fantastic. A bit pricey, but it's a creative feature. I hope that other boxes are available for gifting after Valentine's Day is over. I get the feeling (or maybe that feeling is just hope) that we will have other boxes like these. Hopefully they won't be as pricey.

Are the more expensive boxes able to hold more phat l00tz, or no?

And there's also the whole 'trade' thing you can do with your friend, which won't expire, is completely free, and you'll actually always be there when they receive it.

...

I've not had the chance to mess with them lately, sorry if this is a dumb question because the answer is probably no...

But can you send bound costume items with it? I've got like 30 and I'd be more than happy to give some away.

I don't really understand why

I don't really understand why either of you are complaining. It's not like you are forced to use this option. The gift boxes are just basically fancy wrapping paper. If you want to use newspaper to wrap your presents, no one is stopping you.

Expired mail that wasn't accepted gets returned to the sender...

I know since I hold a lot of trivia and quizes (I used to) and send a lot of gift mail and some didn't want them so they made it expired so I got them back... XD

IDK about the more expensive one, let me try (I have 12k ce laying around and not playing so... let's try it out!). Nope it is still one. I think the gift can be stored in your arsenal.

Yup, the gift gets wrapped and you have a box with your item in it and you can sell it for whatever you want. So theorically you could put anything in it and sell it at AH for dirt cheap (which is what I'm trying atm...)

Apparently you cannot sell the boxed item on AH but you can trade it or send it in a mail... oh well

@Reku no bound items are still bound no matter what, first thing I tried XD

@Sleepy it's more about the pricing and the why? OOO has the power over this, they can choose to make them at 200 cr and sell 100,000 or to put it at 500 ce and sell 100-1,000... I just find it a little... IDK, they just put everything at high price just "because" instead of making it "somewhat accessible" and sell more.. 10 ce? which is still more than 200 cr... would sell A LOT

Awww, ok :c

I hope OOO makes a way to unbind these things. I only wear my kat hat now so my costumes like blue rose aren't being used so I wish I could give them to friends.

Unboxings in Haven everywhere!

For all the creativity and effort put into this, I believe it would have been better applied into the attachment feature of in-game mail rather than having the function it is on offer for. On top of that, the extra Crowns required to send the items would be justified.

OOO should give it more work so that the feature can be both recreative and accessible to everyone.

Brainstorm

The gift boxes are in the supply depot for a reason. . .

.

. .

. . .

. . . .

. . . . . To be a CE sink.

I don't think they intend the gift boxes to be 'easily accessible'.
Instead, it's just an incentive for richer players to utilize a neat feature while ultimately draining CE from the game.
Even though the prices are relatively high, players are still buying/using the gift boxes; thereby serving its CE sinking purpose.

Course, this is just my own personal opinion. I don't intend on sparking unnecessary debate or concern; as such, I apologize in advance if any of my previous statements had caused even the slightest bit of offense.
