Im sure you guys saw the AH by now. And you know What i mean :( The Only Question is: Will the GMS be taking the Bolted vees back? and giving the crowns back to each respective person in all the trade (knight to knight) transations?
Free* Prismatic Bolted Vees :( Sigh
Wait. I don't get it. Where did all these Vee's come from?
Wait, what happened?
Some glitch that gave out Bolted Vees for free?
Btitsbee- The reason as to why they are like this:
When they put them up for sale at midnight, it was glitched and it was *750 Vees for 0 Energy.
750 Bolted Vees for 0E?
Wow. I need to get on soon so I can nab me a few.
Wait. Can you sell accessories for 1 crown at a vendor? If so, you could make a lot of money if you bought enough vees.
60 Vee's = 60 cr = 1 minute.
600 Vee's = 600 cr = 100 minutes.
1 fsc = 9k cr = 1 hour.
600 cr w/ 100 minutes < 1 fsc w/ 1 hour
Just to make it clear; there was no glitch. We're talking about OOO here, it was probably a distribution feature or something really complex for us kids to understand. Probably trying to replace crowns as the in-game currency, I don't know. We won't know what happened exactly, that's for sure.
Knock knock
Who's there?
Prismatic bolted vee
I believe that whoever's in charge of putting items up accidentally put 750 in the wrong input box. Human errors, y'know. It happens.
@Krakob THanks what im thinking as well :/
If I was OOO I'd simply delete all prismatic vees that were created during those 18 minutes.
People who are buying are stupid, they should pay the price. Either that, or they could bind all pris vees to account..
I doubt they will do anything though..it'd require a little bit of work.
"We're talking about OOO here"
..This is where your argument fails..
It didn't even cost me 5,000 crowns. This is possibly one of the biggest mistakes I've seen in my time playing Spiral Knights. It's awesome.
(Oh I do hope that up next there will be 1,000 Prismatic Vitapacks for 0 energy up next!)
Some people have over 500,000 Prismatic Vees (auto-clicker!). If you bought for over 10 cr each, than congratulations, you got scammed.
You're talking to the guy who buys a Prismatic Wolver Tail for 2,000,000 crowns then sells it again for 600,000. I scam myself. It's what I do. I'm also the only guy paying at my guild treasury. Point is, I have a bunch of Vees now and that makes me happy. :D
I'll take 10 of 'em! No? anyone selling? Okay.
Dayum. Did this update screw you over or did you do that in the past?
Anyway, I hope OOO does something..
There is kind of precedent with dealing with this issue (very loose relation).

They could reward those who didn't abuse the mistake and/or didn't buy any prismatic bolted vees from the auction house. Of course it depends on whether or not they keep logs of who's online and at what times of the day. They could also reward players who turn them in, while that does give incentive to erasing this mistake from the market, it's technically rewarding the wrong people who took advantage in the first place. After all, you don't give brownie points to really bad criminals who turn themselves in right?
So yeah. This is just a general idea, so don't beat me up over specifics.
In the past. Actually, there is a bit more to the story.
One time I decided to make an overly accessorized costume with nothing but prismatic rares. The first thing I got was the Volt Breaker armor thanks to it having prismatic capabilities. I had one just lingering around in inventory ever since I was a noob, so I decided to use that. It had a Deconstructor Crest on it though. I guess I put it on there because I had nothing else to put it on. I decided to keep it until I had a Prismatic front accessory.
Next on my list was a Wolver Tail. Prismatic of course! I went to the Auction House and found one on sale for about 2,000,000 crowns. I thought about my life choices for a second, then decided to cough up 80% of my energy to buy it. I put it on the Volt Breaker armor and strapped it on to see how it looked. I puked. So did everyone around me.
I took it off and never wore it again. Eventually a time came when I was horribly desperate for money, so I decided to go down to Vise and unbind my Volt Breaker armor with the tail. Then I went to the Auction House and put it up for sale for about 650,000 crowns. A few minutes later I got a message saying it sold. I got 600,000 in return, Wasting loads of crowns. I will also never get the Decon Crest back.
So, yay! I'm a profitable merchant! What really sucks is that now I have about 700 Prismatic Vees in my arsenal that could have made that Volt Breaker armor look good!
That nothing will probably happen.
Spiral Knights has a confusing, sometimes mixed-message history when it comes to game-breaking bugs like this.
When people exploited Winterfest, they took (imo) the right approach and warned/banned them.
When someone put up tens/hundreds of millions of exploited crowns into the CE Market and people knowingly used the system to get them, they didn't ban anyone who profited and passed it off as: "Well, the crowns were mostly already spent on rolls and such, so it's OK." (If anyone wants to dig, I believe Nick posted this comment last year.)
When the crowns exploit happened a second time, more recently, the people who benefited from all that cheated money still got to keep it, even though it gave them a hugely unfair advantage over other players.
So, when it comes to Bolted Vees - history shows us that they probably won't do anything. I do hope they can prove that wrong, though.
You also have to realize this is a terrible situation to be in, on both sides. Either you roll back the servers and do an injustice to your new players, or you don't roll back and do an injustice to the old. Nobody wins, either way.
Sorry to all those out there who had a Pris Bolted Vee before the incident.
At least it didn't happen with an accessory that is more wanted/rare you basically get this one for free when you make a character anyway.
“You get a Hacked Aura! And you get Hacked Aura! Everyone gets a Hacked Aura!”
Yeah, it could be worse.
Secretly, I kind of wish the game had been flooded with Prismatic Maid Headbands.
I'm a terrible person.
Valorai has a point. If someone spammed click to buy say a million vees. They could vendor them all and make 1mill cr.....
No, Arc, you can't sell them to a vendor.
However, you can sell them for crowns on the AH - and for a lot more than just 1 crown each.
It's safe to say that many players will make hundreds of thousands, if not millions of crowns from this, depending on how many they purchased and when they decide to sell them.
If that makes you angry, well... it probably should.
Well... The Game is already prioritizing players who took their 5 star gear prior to the Sprites' Update to the Level 10. So... Many of us will still be under many people unless we want to spend ten bucks on Energy. I doesn't see it as a Big problem. The worst that will happen is that this accessory value will drop faster than the value of Mr. Crab's Soda Hat.
Noobs will still be noobs and those who profit on it will probably waste their money on useless gear or more accessories.
Actually, investing in the cheap accessories is a really good idea, as they are still a rare item and the price of them will only rise once the initial set is dispersed throughout the existing community. Buying a handful- 1K or 2K of them would be quite a wise move in the long run as players slowly forget the incident and the price rises to an equilibrium well above what you paid.
As Starlight-Pear said, all of us have the opportunity to either:
a) Allow the GMs etc. to let us make millions of crowns off this
b) Be incredibly angry at the people that decide to take advantage of the existing vees when the GMs don't step in and fully remove them.
The real issue is that the game is forcing us to sell our integrity... we know that its wrong to buy 1000 vees for 10K off of the auction house and get rich in 2 years when the playerbase has rotated through several times to filter all the fees out, but at the same time it feels incredibly stupid not to do so.
Wait, this was a thing? Ah, gammit. I missed out on an awesome (yet punishable) deal.
I bought 2 for 2k, because it didn't seem right to exploit the glitch without paying the price.
Fun fact: I bought 7 at 20 cr each from AH then my friend told me he had 100 and gave me 20... then another friend told me he had 10k and send me 100 through mail...
*sigh*
I wasted 140 cr!!! :O I'm so poor now! /laugh
In all honesty I don't know how in heck are they going to try to do that. Even if they actually have logs of everything that happened... that'd take a while to rectify. And what about people who already used them? Or gave them away? Or... you get the point.
Well, we should know better from experience... coughcoughhacoughkcough
