Hey wassup, everyone that knows me and, well, the people that clicked out of curiosity. I'm starting an interactive story, which is different than most interactive stories. If you want a sample of a regular interactive story, check out my awesome friend Psychnade's story here.

http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/96674

My story will have different authors writing, like a chain. Everyone is entitled to do a chapter, and post it here on the forums. I will handpick a group of authors to help me write the story by designating their turn to right a chapter. The chapter must fit into the story and make sense. Please write a chapter 2 to chapter 1 below to apply. I will pick anyone who may be good. There is no limit to how many I will pick, so happy writing, and may the odds be ever in your favor.

Sight stared at the obelisk, not daring to break away eye contact, while mumbling a complex spell. It glowed, its mystical and otherworldly light casting a faint shine to its surroundings. “Istu karsi gudou doans firn!” He grinned as the strange symbols glowed even more intensely, and then faded. Ritual walked into the room. “Well?” “I worked. I hope.” “The coronation is no joke, Sight. You master this spell or Devotion is Empress. Would you like that? Because I don’t.” Sight stared into the distance and sighed. “Is it true that we are at war with the Kats? They killed off the Owlites, and it seems we’re next.” For the first time, Sight looked worried. “Don’t worry, this is the reason why we need a new leader, in times like these.” Even if we lose this war, I have preserved our legacy in an ancient book, speaking of our people and of the Apocrea.” Sight looked wary. “Speaking of Apocrea, what is beyond the Abyss?” “We don’t speak of that here, Sight. This is the holy chamber. Even I don’t know what is beyond the Abyss, and there is a reason the other Elders don’t know either. If the Obelisk doesn’t confide this information to us, there must be good reason. Now, let us practice that spell again, shall we?”

Chapter 2

"Gaah! Why can't I get this spell right!!!" Sight shouted, slamming his fist into the wall. "Mew?" A small Kat-like noise came from behind him. "Huh?" Sight said, utterly confused. "Oh my apologies. I forgot you don't speak Kat," A small mewkat sized Black Kat floated out of the shadows. "You- you're a kat! You shouldn't be here! We're supposed to be going to war!" Sight shouted. "Hey, HEY! Calm down. I'm simply here to help. My name's Shade. Have you tried increasing your Mystik Dynamiks?" Shade asked. "Mystik Dynamiks?" Sight said, now completely confused. "Oh, right you probably haven't studied Owlite Magiks have you." Shade said, seeming somewhat sad. "I wish I could find just one other person who's studied them." "Wait, but you're a Kat. Why would you-" Sight started. "Don't even MENTION that I'm a Kat I've been trying to forget that fact..." Shade screamed. "Why do you hate your bloodline so much. It's not like you're a descendant of Margarel," Sight said jokingly. "Umm... About that..." Shade spoke slowly and reluctantly. "Oh, haha! You're joking you're really funny Shade. For a second I thought-" Sight looked a Shade who was clearly unamused. "Wait. You're SERIOUS!" Sight shouted, "I mean, a rebel Kat is normal. But the Heir to the Kat throne doesn't like his family? He doesn't want to fight?" "Yea, pretty much." Shade said. "Sight?" Ritual's voice called out. "Oh no! See ya!" Shade said fading into the ground and slipping back into the shadows. "Sight!" Ritual yelled runnig up to Sight, "You okay? You've been down here for hours!" "Yea, I think I am," Sight said, with a smug tone in his voice and a smirk on his face, "I think I am."

Influence and one of his subjects were frantically going around the study. "Ah, where did I put that spell book." Several books, tomes, and scrolls were scattered across the floor, which would be a problem had they not been able to fly. "Sir, I found it." Grif held up a book with the words "Spell Book" scrawled on the cover. "Good good." Influence floated over and took the book, making sure it was the right one this time. "... Yeah, this is it." Grif waved his finger and all the books flew back to their places on the shelves. "Now, I think it's best that I return to Sight and Ritual." Grif nodded, and left. Influence flew out towards the Holy Chamber.

Samp Chapter 2

The leader of Rituals left Sight, obersving him as she left the hall. A black scarf was wrapped around her neck, and a hood of rituals covered her face.

'This is the best the department of Sight has to offer?' She thought. 'Pfft. No wonder we're standing here, waiting for the Kats to kill us.' She walked away, leaving Sight to practice his magic. A guard approached her, saluting.

"At ease," She said. "What seems to be the problem?"

The guard lowered his hand, and spoke.

"The Imperial Inventor requests your presence ma'am." The guard stated. "He says he perfected something important, and needs you to be there."

She sighed, and nodded. She left the Hall of Sight, and made her way to the Imperial Inventor's Office.

__________

The Imperial Inventor was a very energetic and disorganized man for a genius. Papers were scattered everywhere, and diagrams and charts hung from every corner of the room.

When she walked in, the Inventor hardly noticed her until she tapped her on the shoulder.

"Ah! Avalyn! I see the messenger made it to you in time." The Inventory said.

"Of course he did. Why wouldn't he?" Avalyn replied.

"Well, there was this one time where a messenger got lost and I was tardy to Lord Termerus' party, and I haven't trusted the lot since!" He moved his hands on a small obsidian obelisk, lights moving where his hands went. Wires went from the obelisk to a huge shape hidden under a sheet.

"Well, what have you called me here for, Allister?"

"Behold!" Allister said. "The new Apocrean foot soldier...The Harvester!" He pulled the sheet off, revealing an impressive construct. It was tall, wearing a black hood and cloak, three glowing purple lights within its cold steel face. An array of long arms hung limply at its back, adding to the already fearsome main arms by its side.

"That is very impressive..."

"Indeed!" Allister said. "Now I need some of your blood." Avalyn raised an eyebrow.

"Umm...what for?"

"The Harvester needs a model to operate off of." He explained. "You are a very capable warrior, and the Harvester having abilities such as yours would be a great addition to the Apocrean Arsenal."

Avalyn sighed, and nodded. Allister sat her in something that looked like a dentist's chair, with more needles.

"Now, this might hurt a bit..." A searing pain ripped through Avalyn's arm, and it stopped as suddenly as it started.

"A bit, hmm?" She sneered.

"Sorry." Allister whispered. "But thank you! You've allowed the prototype to work, and mass production will soon be underway. You best get back to the Hall of Rituals, I heard Commander Thallis is planning a defense against incoming Kat forces."

Avalyn got up, albeit a bit wobbly, and stumbled out of the workshop.

____________

Commander Thallis stood by a map laid out on the table showing where the concentration of enemy and allied forces are. Several other high ranking officers stood by him, observing where they should lay their troops. Avalyn strode into the room, feeling better from her visit to Allister's workshop.

"Ah, Avalyn, good timing." Thallis said. "We've put together a plan of defense for you and some new recruits." Avayln nodded and spoke.

"Who are the operatives I'm taking in?"

"Three from Influence, four from Devotion, and Sight."

'Sight?' She thought. 'Oh no...this'll be one hell of a mission.'

Character Info:

Name: Avalyn Lakeley
Appearance: Hood of Rituals, Snarbolax Coat with a Fancy Side Blade. Under the hood she wears a Crown of the Fallen. Her personal color is violet/indigo.

Swift Feet- She moves way faster than any other being, dealing fatal strikes in seconds.

History:
Back when Avalyn was a mere foot soldier in the Apocrean Royal Militia, she had a best friend in the army, named Carter Drake. They were deep in enemy territory on a special mission, when they were caught be Kat forces and were tortured. They tortured Carter to death, and left Avalyn barely alive. She crewed her way out of enemy camp and made her way back home. Weeks later, she came back with other troops and tortured the Kats there. From then on, she has hated newbies from the fear of friendship and losing them again.

Slink of the Sight branch in Apocrea yawned as he looked over the Plateau. As an assigned tower guard, Slink got to sit in one of the spires that were around the main Halls of Apocrea. His good vision made him apt for the job, and as he was finding out. It was very boring. Slink fingered his Carbine, wishing he could use it. "Augh, this is dull." He complained to no one, as he was the only one occupying the room. Once more he swept his gaze over the gravestone ridden plateau, hoping to see something important. When he saw nothing, he decided to take out his small spell-book. Slink had always liked ranged weapons, and was trying to create an Apocrean Rifle. Slink selected a tome, and muttered it under his breath like an incantation. Staring intently at his carbine, he finished his chant, and waved his hand over the pistol. It glowed purple, and its barrel elongated. When it stopped glowing, Slink was staring at an Obsidian Rifle. Slowly a grin spread across his face. It had worked! It had finally worked! He ran a hand over the rifle, and lifted it off the ground. Testing the sighting on the gun, he shot at a gravestone. The grave exploded into dust as the bullet slammed into it. Slink smiled even more. He heard commotion below, and decided to go check it out. Attaching the new rifle to his back, Slink descended the stairs to the main hall. A few of the Apocrean disciples were tallking about something. He walked unnoticed to the side of the group, and leaned against the wall.

"Are you sure there is a new mission coming up." One spoke in a hushed voice.

Another replied, "Yes I'm sure, I heard the Commander say that they were going to need a couple warriors from each Branch."

Hm, this sounds interesting. Slink thought to himself as he walked away. Coming to a decision, Slink moved towards the command room, to request a position on the mission.

Info on Character:

Name: Slink
Gender: Male

Appearance: Obsidian Hood of Sight, Obsidian Mantle of sight, Dread Skelly Shield almost always on his back.

Gear: Obsidian Rifle: A rifle version of the Carbine but more powerful shots in exchange for only three shots at a time instead of six. Obsidian Crusher used for close quarters, but Slink favors his rifle.

Special Skills/Powers: Overview-Vision: Slink's eyes focus so that he can see crystal clear and differentiate enemy from friend, not by appearance, but by loyalty. It lasts for about a minute, and has a cooldown time of five hours.

Personality: Slink is an observant Disciple. As well as being strategic and calculating. He doesn't know much magic, so he prefers his weapons. As a member of the Sight branch, Slink is supposedly able to see visions but he hasn't seen much of anything from the future, past, or present.

History: Slink was put in the sight branch due to his accurate vision, but he wasn't good at seeing visions, just regular seeing. In the sight branch, Slink learned the ways of the Apocrea and recieved his choice of the three Obsidian weapons. Picking the two that suited him the most, Slink began his training with them. Over time, Slink gained considerable accuracy and precision with the carbine, but never got used to the bomb.

Chapter 3: Back to Blood

Avalyn and her squad trekked through the dusty and smoke-ridden battlefield. Broken spears and banners lined the hills, the corpses of dead soldiers still clutching them in rigor mortis. She had to deal with recruits, which was what she hates.

'A couple of novices from Sight, and only half baked soldiers from Influence and Devotion...' She thought. 'Why am I always paired with guys like this...' Then, in the distance the was movement, and a glint of red.

"Get down!" She shouted, and rolled behind a rock. Some of the others were fast enough to get behind cover, but others weren't as lucky. They were shredded by a barrage of Kat gunfire. One of the recruits was already trembling in cowardice.

"Pull yourself together soldier!" She whispered harshly. Avalyn pointed at the gunman from Sight. "You there, what's you're name?"

"Slink, ma'am."

"See that hill there?" She pointed. "Get over there and provide some cover fire while we advance." Avalyn ordered. "Got it?" Sight nodded, and scrambled over to the hill. Then she turned to the rest of the soldiers.

"Three of you go into groups. Sight, you're with me and Grif. Now move!" They charged out of cover and fired at their attackers, dropping them dead like stones from a cliff. The Kats, their hollow eyes blazing with bloodlust, returned fire. Avalyn, took a deep breath, and vanished. The Kats were dumbfounded, giving Sight and Grif a chance to shoot some of them down.

Avalyn reappeared behind another Kat, cutting it in two, and pouncing on another one. The other groups were having a harder time though. The Kats were driving the recruits back, and one of the recruits got cornered. He screamed as the Kats gnawed his flesh, but Grif shot the Kats in the back before he was dead.

"We need a hand over here!" He called. As they helped the wounded soldier retreat, Avalyn and Sight were fighting the enemy deep within the battlefield.

The Kats, their billowing hoods and ragged capes, fell as Avalyn sliced through them. Sight threw fire and an array of magic at is enemies. The Kats were losing badly, and soon the small outpost was captured. They had managed to capture the leader of the outpost as well.

"Any last words, hmm Kat?" Avalyn asked. "Before I end your worthless life?" The Kat screeched in defiance.

"Very well." She whipped her sword across the Kat's neck, spraying his viscera across the wall. Avalyn took out her communication obelisk, about the size of a coffee mug. An image of Commander Thallis popped up.

"I see you've taken the enemy garrison and put an end to the assault." He said. "Excellent work. However, the rest of the enemy forces are still coming. Utilize the outpost as a defense center, we will be sending more troops soon. Good luck." The image dissolved in a purple haze, and Avalyn put the obelisk away.

'Now I have to train these recruits with the little spare time we have...Just great.'

The Kat soldier kneelt before Margrel, who sat on his throne, legs crossed and his fiery eyes focused upon him.

"My liege, the platoon you sent to the West Plateau are making steady advance." The Kat said. "We shall have control over that area in four days at most."

"Excellent." Margrel seethed. His voice was as deep as the darkest crag in the Clockworks. "Make sure nothing goes wrong, all shall kneel before the fist of Margrel."

"Make sure nothing goes wrong, all shall kneel before the fist of Margrel. What of the Eastern Plateau platoon. What of them."

"Well My leige..." the soldier started.

"Daddy! Daddydaddydaddydaddydaddydaddy!" a shrill voice shouted, "DADDY!!!!!!"

"Huh? AAH!" Margrel screamed as the very tiny white and cream cat juped on him, "Dawn?"

"Daddy!" Dawn screamed, excitedly, "Daddy? Can we play now?"

"Dawn I have no time to play, I'm planning a war here. Run along and go pester, I mean play with your brother Shade," Margrel seethed,highly annoyed.

"I haven't seen him in two weeks," Dawn said calmly, "How can I play with him if he's not here?"

"TWO WEEKS!!!!!" Margrel screamed and turned to the soldier, "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME THIS!!!!!"

"My liege, in all honesty," the soldier said, "I thought you knew."
The second this was said, an evil smile grew on Margrel's face. He had an evil plan.

"Dawn dear," Margrel began, "Would you do daddy a favor?"

"Of course Daddy!" Dawn said.

"Go find your brother. Here use these," Margrel said, putting some goggles on Dawn's bright blue eyes, "They'll lead you to him."

"Okay Daddy!" Dawn said, and hurried on her way.

A few hours later after following the trail of Shade's essence. Dawn found herself in a new, scary place. Totems and Obelisks made of this strange black stone floated around her. Then, she looked up and saw a tower, she quickly became terrified. Not of the tower. No, no, no. She was afraid of what was in it. Inside the tower stood a dark figure with three red, glowing eyes, and it had it's gun pointed right at her. Dawn quickly remembered what to do in this situation and started charging her energy. Once she was ready, she fired a blast of light out of herself, temporarily blinding the figure allowing to cover. Dawn was only sure of one thing now, she had to find Shade. She quickly rushed in through the door of the building the essence trail led her to, and took cover she followed the trail into a dark corner...

"Shade?" Dawn whispered, "Shade? I'm scared."

"It's okay," a voice said, as a kat drew out of the darkness. "You're with me now," Shade said.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Soldier!" the apocrean commander screamed, "Soldier get up! What are you doing on the ground! Explain yourself!"
"Well sir," he began "there was this kat, and I was ready to shoot it, but then it started glowing, and then there was this flash and..."
"Save it for Devotion," the commander said.
Le Sample Chapter:
A trail of Kats filled with hatred and anger raced after Sho through the ever changing twists and turns of Candlestick Keep. Normally no one would've dared even think of this but Sho, well, he was loving it. As the Kats closed in Sho knew he had to do something quick, he snapped his head back, pulled out his Carbines, at shot each Kat a multitude of times. That'll buy me some time, he thought. There was a way he could stop this but the spell required would take some time, more than he could gain buy shooting some Kats. He stared at the aged ceiling and the beams supporting it thinking of a dastardly idea. He stopped and smirked at the oncoming Kats. He took a Carbine from his Poncho and shot one of the beams in a barrage of bullets and watched as part of the ceiling crumbled down. Sho breathed thanks to no one in particular, he then sat down and muttered runic words. The words came out strangled and butchered but soon melded together in a soothing and mesmerizing melody. The runic song matched the beats of the Kats on the ceiling and Sho quickly found himself slipping. His eyes flared as the spell took action but then returned to their regular state as soon as it began. Patches of strange, purple fire appeared in the area of the Keep where there was expansion of above. They quickly turned into spherical shapes and rained on the Kats below causing chaos and madness. Sho was drained, he grinned at the malevolent scene and walked off.
I guess it's a little short but, meh.
screw it we r on the Western side of the plateau
Slink yawned and rubbed his eyes. He was on guard duty again. The Spookat outpost was a substantial holding point for the moment, so as they waited for reinforcements, their commander Avalyn decided to train some of the trainees. Leaning sideways on his rifle, Slink sighed as the dullness of watchguard settled over him. For the umpteenth time, he sweeped his gaze slowly over the desolete plain of apocrea, scattered tombstones decorated the black ground. A thought dawned on Slink, If Kats were occupying this outpost, then wouldn't someone know that it was taken? Maybe this post has a beacon on it, better suggest this to Commander. He reached up to his headset and flicked it on.
"Slink here, might want to check if there if there is transmitting beacon somewhere in this outpost. Just a suggestion, thought you should know..." He flicked it off and let out another sigh of boredom.
He checked his rifle, making sure that it was working at peak proficiency. It was, so he settled his arms on the guardrail of his tower. His eyes drooped threatening to put him to sleep. Blinking hard to stay awake, Slink looked around for something to keep him awake. He noticed a small book in the corner of the room. Picking it up, he read the cover, 'Book of Spells' there was the symbol of the Kat Klan on the cover. Funny, the book was from before the Kataclysm, someone must have left it here. Slink hesitated before he opened the book, should he be doing this? Curiosity got the better of him, and he flipped to the index. Before the Kats had beem transformed, they had different types of warriors. He found the page for the Kat gunner spells, and flipped to said page. Disappointment filled Slink's mind as he read about Kat 'gunners.' They actually are more of a grenadier, throwing small explosive bombs. Only elite kats had any sort of artillery.
Slink's eyes widened as he found a spell, labeled: Overview-Vision (Elite Gunners ONLY): Heightens vision to that of an Owlite, allowing for greater range when shooting. Lasts for 5 minutes, can use only once every 5 hours
He committed the small incantation to memory, going over it in his head. Pocketing the small book, Slink hefted his rifle, and muttered the spell under his breath. Almost instantly, his vision heightened, sighting a far off tombstone, Slink aimed, sighted, and fired. Watching the bullet fly off towards his target. The tombstone exploded and Slink grinned. He practiced his aim, and after the five minutes passed, he felt his vision return to normal. Definitely not bored anymore, Slink took out the book, and leaned against a support beam, reading the spellbook.
* * * (Insert 'Long time later' sign from cartoons)
Slink closed the book, and looked up. Nothing. Feeling the familiar sensation of boredom creeping up his body, Slink decided to see if he could hit something from even farther off. He shouldered the rifle and looked down the sights, and saw movement. He lowered his rifle, blinking to make sure he wasn't seeing things. There was an entire platoon of Spookats, slowly making their way towards the outpost, he could just barely see them.
Slink quickly flicked his headset on, "Enemy incoming! It's an entire platoon of Spookats! About a kilometer away! Advancing fast!"
Raising his rifle, he readied for battle.
Pulling her blade out of a Kat, Avalyn looked up to see another foe hit the ground as a bullet slammed into it from far off...
