Add 'em at the end of the level, where there are a few crowns sitting out.
I'm suggesting this because the crown pay-out is bad, even though these levels are fun/challenging for a lot of people.

Yep. Another one of those easy suggestions that needs to be put in ASAP.
Also, I should say that I've lost a couple Sparks of Life in T3 Compounds. Sure, I'm rusty, but I would like to have a bit more to show for those lost Sparks. >.>

Good point. But I still think that there needs to be at least a few guaranteed red blocks. Maybe a ratio of reds to greens could be 1:3, or something.
Compounds have a rather mediocre enemy drop payout as well. It may be just as beneficial that Minis should be given a considerably higher droprate to even up with the difficulty, at least those that don't come from respawning points.
As for the boxes, I would also give the mid-point treasure stops a minimum appearance rate of 4 boxes. That would estimate to around 12 boxes or more per Compound clearance on average, a long way from their currently reviled reputation.
Compound stages are so bad in comes to treasure boxes, I like doing compound stage myself and I like blowing every enemy in the stage with my nitronome, DBB, haze bombs, and shard bombs, (YAY SHARDS!!!) but the treasure boxes payout is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO poor.
Yeah you could end up finding a room that gives you a little more boxes then normal but they appear so rarely.
The box count, and thus rarity count is insanely low. They can just be regular boxes.
