Hello fellow Spiral Knights.
I plan to run my very first SL (UGWW, Shadow Snarby) to craft my Snarby Cap and require a team to help me.
My IGN is Crashburnboom. I don't use a mike and live in Pacific Standard Time.
Quite Frankly, I am very intimidated by SLs and feel somewhat ill-prepared (weapon-wise)

My primary weapon is my beloved Divine Avenger 10 (UV: Dmg vs Beasts: High, Dmg vs Undead: Low). I wear a Skolver Cap 5, Vog Cub Coat 5, and (atm a Feral Shell lvl1) or a Blackened Seal 10 (depending if I can get a Savage Tortoise in time).
I am also unsure what I should bring for my secondary weapon. I currently have;
-Acheron 1
-Shivermist Buster 5 (UV: Dmg + beasts low)
-Valiance 2 (UV: Dmg + slime low)
-Strike Needle 10

I am recruiting people to go on this SL.

Requirements;
Must be a Vanguard
The key cost is 450 CE (I don't have the SL key, will purchase at terminal after payment)

Edit:
I plan on doing the SL this Saturday at 12:00 AM Pacific Standard Time.

Congratulations to Claun and Leekcoco! You have been elected to join me.
(Note; Leekcoco you will not have to pay for the key but give me the nightmare mane and crowns)
However post your IGN.

I will tell you how it was the experience of my first SL.
I logged in the game. 2 of my friends were in the terminal, they invited me, there was a guy or a girl (i don't remember the gender) that had the key, he/she opened and we entered, but before we did that bug of hovering over the elevator. First i though it was very hard and i would waste a lot of sparks, but it was quite easy most of the times, you must dodge hard things instead of trying to defeat them, the first and second battle of the first level weren't too hard as i though, they were sort of challenging, but not something we can't do. Even if i died in every depth, i didn't wasted any sparks. The battle with the snarbies was a bit hard, because of the swarm seed and the respawning silkwing, but it wasn't too hard as one of my friends were taking care of the bell. After this i didn't even knew there was another depth before getting the mats, it was very surprising and fun to get to the unknown passage.

I think it shouldn't be too hard for you, i've got a lvl 10 DA too, but with beat UV low, but i don't think it should be so easy like me. i was wearing chaos and vog, making me completely vulnerable to wolvers' attack, but it wasn't too hard to handle with them. I was with 4 weapons, DA, BTB, polaris and Blitz. I don't think you should bring shivermist buster, as wolvers can burrow even if frozen.

I hope you enjoy your first SL, and have good luck with it.

A bit more information

What difficulty do you plan to run this on? If you do anything less than elite you should be fine. Also, what sprite and level do you use?

The primary damage you'll probably take is shadow damage, mainly because undead show up and turrets are primarily howltzers. Poison resistance is also a plus.

Shadow Lairs

Ah yes, I did an elite mode Red Twins Lair yesterday. I lost about 10 sparks until mid way into the second level were I finally found that 21 Vita, Remedy Capsules, and Health Capsules. Then it became super easy.

I don't plan to join in on the lair, but I can give you some advice. First off, don't get too intimidated. Shadow Lairs are hard, but not impossible. Have you ever done a Danger Mission before? Those are actually pretty close to a Shadow Lair. Lots and lots and LOTS of monsters thrown at you at once, traps cover 99.999% of the floor, and you very rarely can get a break. Fun stuff!

It usually comes down to good team work, close attention to your surroundings, and overall luck. Use my example of UICM. I lost loads of sparks because I had minimal ways to heal and stay alive after a revive. Once I found that medical supplies, it wasn't a very big problem.

I also should warn you about the Unknown Passage. It is the most fun you will ever have in Spiral Knights, but be prepared for death around every corner. There will be so many monsters in such a tight space, along with that Swarm Seed just to slow you down, that dodging anything will be a brutal challenge. If you want to stay alive, I'd recommend bringing an all purpose shield. I'd imagine that the Torto shields could work, but I have found the Omega Shell to be helpful do it's high health. It protects me from everything, if only by a little bit.

As for armor, as long as you go in offensively with that set, you should be helpful. Just know when you should go in for a kill, or stop and regain a bit more space. There is nothing worse than being overwhelmed by too many monsters in the Unknown Passage. I believe that the biggest damage dealers are the Swarm Turrets which apparently deal extreme amounts of pure normal damage. I may be wrong, but you should take that into consideration.

More Infomation

I like to play offensive support. I like dealing with the Zombies but not the Beasts or Fiends (lack Piercing sword). I can efficiently run FSC elite.
I plan on doing this on normal (or advanced).
I don't have shadow defense as the main purpose of the SL is to craft a snarby for my shadow def.

My pet is Fyralis ("of fire" in Greek) lvl 98, with Scorching Barrier and concussive firebolt. I like stunning things so I can get more dmg in with less dmg to me. I use the health perk. I have 10 sparks now, and am planning to buy 10 more.

I still need to know which weapon to bring if not Shiv. I guess my Strike Needle 10 will do...

I am also recruiting for the SL here. The advice is secondary.

I've done all the lairs at least once, 82k+ prestige, have sparks, a sizeable arsenal, and plenty of PvE experience. I don't know if it would even be appropriate for me to volunteer as I'm reluctant to pay 450E for UGWW due to not needing to craft and the minimal payout. Just leaving it here that I'm willing to offer my time, Nightmare Mane and crowns payout from the run if you'd like as I just want to help. If you need someone who can pay, that's understandable, feel free to ignore my post. :)

PS You should state the exact time of the run with the zone so we can tell if we can make it.

I would love to come... but

450ce for a UGWW? Bit more than my money's worth.

Wish I could come along

But I don't have the money nor am I a vanguard, just a defender elite. I did complete my first shadow lair last night however, same exact one. It was extremely fun, and it was just me and my other defender elite friend. We did better than I thought we would have, and now I have my beautimous first set of 5* gear (obviously snarbs)

I think you'll do fairly well on this, considering it's the easiest of the four and you're going with a party. I'd offer to come along but like I said I don't meet either requirement. Either way, you should be able to do great, and I hope you have fun doing it. Just have a decent amount of sparks and the gear you need, and don't forget that YOU CAN change your gear whenever you want inside the unknown passage. Piercing is good to have in the lair itself, but remember that wolvers have that tendency to burrow when fired at.

Good luck!
